To curb the speculation and end the "How come pravata is showing up as a guest" questions, I wanted you all to know that Richard has decided to back away from the site for awhile.

Some of you have noticed that pravata's account has been deleted.  And just so we're clear, that was his decision.  He took that action, not any of the admins.  From emailing with him, I don't think there was some sort of big event that led to this decision.  More like a lot of little thing that have been building up over time.  Simply put, I think he's burned out.

The door is open for him to return at any time, and he knows that.  For now we wish him well and hope he decides to return soon.

For me, NYCU is a cornerstone of SNS, not to mention everything he brings to the forum.  I hope he reconsiders.

pravata was the Last Sane Man.  A man who wasn't distracted by hype or any matter of media prestidigitation.  He intrepidly fished through the oceans of dreck and brought us the most relevant and informative Astros news.  He brought us the news in a workmanlike, taciturn factor, without begging for accolades, without calling undue attention to himself.    No longer can we rely on pravata and Footer.  Now, we must do our own research, exercise our own judgment.  We suffer from those losses, but I am hopeful that we can follow in pravata's footsteps.  And, if the legend is true, when SnS is in its darkest hour, he will return to reclaim his position as Ferret-in-Chief.

As much as I liked NYCU, there are bigger things in life than a fan web site. Pravata, take care and Godspeed. Get out and watch some ball games, and turn off your google for a while. You are more important than NYCU.

I realize that this is just for attention at this point, but...

there is no word even close to "poiant" that would fit in this sentence fragment.  Secondly, to revert is to turn back into.  So the thread would have had to start as a discussion on the marketing techniques used by JitB, moved on to another topic and then reverted back to the current discussion.

If you were as handy with a mute button as I am you too would have no idea about this jingle. I am blissfully unencumbered.

Of course pravata (R.I.P.) considered it unmanly to mute, preferring to endure two minutes of pain and/or terror rather than enjoy contemplative silence.

Yes.  No reflection on billemite, but that postscript might help even the most farfetched pronouncement go down easier.

What a lot of Mayan calendar detractors won't tell you, while meanwhile laughing out loud at gloomy 12-21-2012 predictions, is that there is a tiny inscription, right down there at the bottom of the Dresden codex. . . three small glyphs, hard to even see, much less decipher. . . "F. T. C."

Your hard work was appreciated, at least by myself.  You clearly put a lot of work into it, so thanks.  But with that said, if it all took too much of a toll on you, fuck it, I say its not worth it.  Not that you would need my blessing or anything, clearly.

But even though a lot of us never said thanks (myself included), we did appreciate it.
