Fridays started on Thursdays back in my single days....

Then again, I chalked it all up to her perhaps being in Australia.

Well, we were in Ireland last week and got to do the Guinness tour in Dublin.  Very cool, and the Guinness was fantastic.  It's not a tour of the brewery itself, but it's on the grounds and has a whole thing on how it's made, advertising, etc.  Definately worth the 14 euros to get in.  Plus, every ticket gets a free pint, and since neither my wife nor our two daughters particularly like the stuff, I had vouchers for 4 pints!  Only had 2 though, had to drive through Dublin later in the day.

We did that tour a few years ago while there for the Dublin marathon. Besides the pint, I especially enjoyed the memorablilia and the Gilroy gallery. Lots of original art from his work on the advertising campaigns.

I also enjoyed that tour last year.  The advertisement museum was great.  And don't you know it takes an Irishman to convincde everyone that a € 14 beer is "free".

You can get arrested for keg diving and/or putting your mouth directly on the tap.

Had to entertain my new bosses from Dublin last week.  Took them out to the new Oasis to eat.  Whilest waiting for our food, we order beer.  I know that the light weight I am when it comes to beer, I'm not going to be able to keep with them, so I order a dos equis and sit on the drink for half an hour.  They, in the meantime, have downed quite a few different varieties of beers suggested by others in my group.

Finally, one of my new bosses turns to me and slurs asked "What's that you're drinking?".  I say "Dos Equis" in a sort of apologetic way.  He screams out "Dos Equis for everyone... on me!" So now everyone must drink Dos Equis instead of trying like the dickens to impress the new jefes.  I was waiting for the fall out of my choice of beer, but luckily for me, both bosses loved the taste so I was safe.

So I ordered a Shiner Bock the next go round.  Now my new boss looks over and asks... "What's that you're..."  and luckily our food came and he forgot what he was asking me.  I was beer challenged/intimidated being with two Irish from Dublin, trust me.

Ayinger!  daß kann Mann trinken!

And Celebrator is one of the best of the ilk.

However, I'm gonna have to go with a genuine kölsch at the Ständige Vertretung in Berlin next month.

Don't wear anything nice to the beer halls.  Wellingtons and a so' wester would be best.  The beer is swilling, the food is flying and the lightweights are chundering.

The odds of anything good coming from me diving in to a keg are ridiculously low.

You could try some Space beer.

Russian laboratory student from Japan's Okayama University, Elena Shaginardanova, displays a bunch of "space barley," the first generation of barley which was grown in a Russian space laboratory in 2006. . .

In Russia, a "shaginardanova" is what happens after too many space beers with some budding babushka in the bar of a hotel in Minsk.  You go out to the parking lot and jump into the back seat of her Danova (a cheaply made Russian sedan.)

Nyet.  But nice try.  And if you realize that "babushka" means grandmother, it may somewhat alter your mental image of this whole line of "reasoning".
