Is Wiggy hurt or is this just a game to get Blum in?

Read previously that Coop'd be trying to give his regulars a break during this 10 game road trip and trying to give some of the vets some ABs, so I presume thats what is happening here (although I've not seen anything on it one way or another).

Berkman leads the league in runs scored.  How's that happen? Lee 26 RBI, Pence 22.

Well I'm no sabremathlete, but I'm pretty sure Towles wasn't gonna go all year without a passed ball and we might make an error or two, pitchers may give up some runs.  I'm still pretty damn confident.

Pence smoked one in the hole, 3rd baseman makes a nice play and fires wide of first. First baseman swipes at Pence, comes within MAYBE  a foot of his ass, and the first base ump rings him up.

Of course Pence was about a foot inside (??) the basepath, so he could've been called out for that anyway.  If he'd been running inside the lines, it wouldn't have been close anyway (not that it was very close as it was).

Um, what did he do?  Was away from the game.

Vizquel hit a pop-up in no-man's land between 2B and CF. Bourn got it it late, and rather than throw the ball in immediately, he dropped his head and looked at his feet. Vizquel took the opportunity to move up to second, while Bourn threw wildly and short-hopped Tejada, who had to be backed up Blum (I think). Not his best moment.

Was watching Baseball Tonight hoping to catch some coverage of Lance's continued awesomeness (maybe a homer replay on Touch 'Em All) and Bourn's webgem.  Its possible I missed something with the audio off but ...

I don't understand why people are surprised by that. The good folks at ESPN are a bunch of fuckwads, and as far as I'm concerned, can kiss my lily white ass.

I know, but with 5 TV's in the house, too expensive.  They charge too much for more than 4 TV's.

I don't understand why people are surprised by that. The good folks at ESPN are a bunch of fuckwads, and as far as I'm concerned, can kiss my lily white ass.

I know, but with 5 TV's in the house, too expensive.  They charge too much for more than 4 TV's.

you could get satellite programming on four of the tvs and just use basic cable on the 5th tv, might be cheaper.

Or a satellite package for 4 TVs, and then a Slingbox for #5! Or keep the kids on a permanent grounding rotation, so that one of them is always grounded from the TV.

Best thing (for me) that ESPN did this year was pull the Tejada stunt.  Turned me off from 'em so bad that I've caught maybe 45 minutes of programming since.

The next step could be withholding allowance so you could save up for an HDTV.

Well if the "text poll" says Berkman will win the triple crown, it's going to happen.

Am I the last person in the USA who has never sent a text message?

Reminds me of today when I finished with the playstation and flipped back to TV mode and espn's E:60 was on in which the channel was changed immediately.

Well, I can't say I never have, but I very rarely do.  Frankly, this FSN text poll crap really bugs me.  Is FSN getting a cut of the text message fees or something?  Enough already!

Cubs lost and Cards down 8-4 in the top of the 10th (1 out).  It'd be an especially good night to pull out a W tonight (BBGs willing of course...).

Yep, unfortunately, the 9 spot has been a thorn in the Astros' side this year.

He's looked like crap at the plate for weeks, but thought his AB that time (result notwithstanding) didn't look all that bad (or did it?).

Matsui and Pence collided.  No one got the ball.  Looked at first like it was serious--knees, legs hurt.  Both stayed in game after a delay.

Lucas in the postgame show reported that Cooper said that Pence and Matsui are ok, maybe just a little sore tomorrow.  Sorta figured that after they stayed in the game tonight.

Hope we don't ever see that again.  This game was really sloppy.

The biggest thing I noticed was the complete lack of plate discipline tonight. Took a lot of fastball strikes and chased a lot of crappy pitches. Not much working of the count.

Is Wiggy hurt or is this just a game to get Blum in?

Per Footer: LINK

Quote
SAN FRANCISCO -- Ty Wigginton was in enough pain after being hit by a fastball in the eighth inning Monday to warrant having X-rays taken on the left side of his rib cage the next morning.  The results were negative, but Wigginton didn't play Tuesday, and his status will be monitored on a day-to-day basis.  "I'm hopeful for [Wednesday]," Wigginton said. "I'm going to stay positive and be prepared to play."***

Asked if he was initially worried he had broken a rib, he said: "I really wasn't too worried about it but I thought there was a chance. I knew he hit me good. I've never had a broken rib. It hurt running, it hurt throwing. I knew there was definitely something there. Luckily, it's just bruised."
