Bourn is fast.
Ninja was out by a country mile. And predictably, a solid Bourn basehit follows.
Taveras has a faster looking stride, but Bourn can go.
Thinking the same thing. There was a game in 2005 where Willy scored from first on a similar play... can't remember if it was a playoff game or just one of the many 'must win' games that year.
Seeing-eye single Lee, 2-0 good guys!
The way Matsui looked back towards homeplate, seems it was a missed hit and run by Bourn. Either that or Matsui has no business looking home on a straight steal.
Mark Grace:"His nickname is el Caballo, which means....the bull."
Wow, here I've been thinking this whole time that it meant "lover of stick horses." Thank god for enlightening color commentary.Horse... cow... whatev!
Seriously, was he waved? Why?? Did Romero think it was someone else running?
Dammit Romero, that was plain silly to send the P.
Berkman really selling the eye drops. Squinting and blinking.
Do-ray agrees with the send, was it really that blatantly bad?
Was Bourn stoped at 3rd?
i thought JD was saying Bourn should have been sent earlier when he was held. I did miss the first half inning though. Was Bourn stoped at 3rd?
Yeah Noe, Ho and Hum on the radio were saying that play had to be a missed sign by Bourn. Hung Matsui out to dry. I was on the road and didn't see it but they went on about it and how if Bourn is going to bat second he can't be missing signs like that.
Throw had to be perfect. And it was.
Don't know if it was blatantly bad, but Romero just learned that Cassel is good for 180 consecutive feet of running, not so much 270. Now he knows.
Funny that he was sent because it actually looked like Cassel had been grabbed by Romero and pulled back towards 3rd.
Hey Ty, I'm loving Richards.Stars just won in OT. Yeah!!
Enjoy. He did win the Conn Smythe.
He is definitely a good addition for this team.3-0Now if only the Spurs and Astros win I'll have a great night.
Ya know, since moving to Spurs country they've grown on me, even though I'm more of a Rockets fanBut I don't know why FSNSW chose Spurs over Astros even though the Spurs are on another channel
But I don't know why FSNSW chose Spurs over Astros even though the Spurs are on another channel
FYI...I love the road grays.
that should be a HR
Towles hit a homer off the rail above the yellow line, but it's going to be a double, with a headfirst dive into the space between 2nd and 3rd.
Slo-mo replay on the AZ feed showed it clearly made it over the wall, hit something and bounced back. Seems like the 'thud' shoulda given them a clue as well.
Watch Matsui when he steals, he always looks back.
Geez, they teach you not to do that in Little League.
Grace (EI AZ feed) was saying that it looks like Cassel appears to drop his arm down a bit on the changeup. I'm not seeing it (but wasn't paying a whole bunch of attention either). Anyone?
Man I wish I could have seen this.
Yeah, he's got a funny follow through, sort of pushes the ball towards home plate. It looks like he just doesn't complete his pitch all the way. I'm not sure if that is what causes the changeup to stay high in the zone because he threw a beauty to the guy playing in place of Byrnes (Sanchez?). He short armed that pitch too, but it broke down really nicely.I think Casell just throws that way.
They'll have a replay on Gameday here shortly I'd guess. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2008_04_29_houmlb_arimlb_1&mode=gameday
Jeff Salazar, a future GG in waiting.
Blum and Tejada with a coupla gems.
lots of guys do it. It's not good form, but it doesnt necessarily mean theyre looking for the hit and run.
If that's the case, then Matsui has to stop doing that and just run. When you look home on a play like that, you're looking to see where the hitter is going to place the ball. If it's behind him, he's going to go into the bag hard to break up the double play or if he sees it's going to be a single, he's going to go to third and avoid sliding at second. On a straight steal, you run, don't look... RUN... to second with all the intention to slide into the bag.
Just repeating our beloved radio announcers. You would think they would pick up that as a habbit of Matsui's. The guy is 64-9 career wise in SB's after all.
These ARI TV kooks are about to spooge all over themselves about this pitcher.
Does this guy have an extreme side arm delivery, or is my game day screwed up?
He throws at his shoulder and snaps his head down at release.
3 K's tonight for Wiggy in RR. Express win on 2 hits.
Thanks for the update. When's Wiggy supposed to be back?
Jebus, these guys make Chip Carey and Joe Carter sound like Scully and Drysdale.
It's going to take more than 6 to win this game.
Who?
Didn't understand coach's comments in the Bus Ride forum about Wigginton's ABs last night at round Rock. Did he get HBP 3 times?
the dbacks TV guys. Absolutely horrible and I'm not exaggerating.
I think it was only two HBP.
(Don Sutton's son).
But their pitcher hit 3 consecutive RR batters.
7 would be good.
I'm getting this feeling that this is one of those when they score early and get shut down the rest of the way.
Here comes the right-hander-we've-never-seen-before phenomenon.
Outstanding 5-4-3 DP
Matsui is a hell of a 2b.
Much better than I thought he was. Glad we got him.I hate to admit it, but I was not overjoyed at getting him or Tejada. I will gladly say I was wrong.
And its only getting worse the longer he stays in...
13 straight retired w/ 7 K's, 35 strikes and a mere 12 balls, I'd say that's enough.One hell of a debut.
Yep, guess their gushing isn't completely meritless... [Think they said 13 straight retired was a RP debut record (since '56) and he's one K short of tying a RP relief record].
9 Ks is the record. They had a chart up but I didn't catch who it was.
Sounds like Brocail is dealin out there. He has turned out to be a good pick up.
He's another that's much better than I realized. What is he, 40?
This will be a big save opportunity for Valverde. Nice piece of hitting there.
At this level, they are all big.
but don't some count more than others?
here is one instance where showing up your old team better not happen
Spurs win!
mavs lost. too bad donkey boy owner.
Fucker hit 98 on the gun, he must be a little pumped up about something.
Have you sworn off "ass" forever?
Hornets are scary.
Hit 99 on that last pitch.
what an excellent night.may tomorrow be even better.
Remember its a 2:40 start tomorrow.
Brocail awarded with the W, scorers decision.
Woulda forgotten that. Thanks for the reminder!
That's our time, you are 2 hours behind?
