Ninja was out by a country mile.  And predictably, a solid Bourn basehit follows.

Taveras has a faster looking stride, but Bourn can go.

The way Matsui looked back towards homeplate, seems it was a missed hit and run by Bourn.  Either that or Matsui has no business looking home on a straight steal.

Thinking the same thing. There was a game in 2005 where Willy scored from first on a similar play... can't remember if it was a playoff game or just one of the many 'must win' games that year.

Casell has an interesting delivery.  He looks like he short arms his pitch in order to get the sink on the pitch.  Doesn't completely follow through.  Sort of a poor mans imitation of Greg Maddux (very poor man).

This looks like a repeat of his Cincy start... everything is up. He's not following through on the pitch so anything he's throwing is just spinning up there high in the happy zone.

Cassel was under full sail and suddenly came about into the wind.  Leaning back is not proper scoring from first running form.

Luckily Berkman's got a 'contact problem,' or else Cassell'd still be sucking wind through the first 2 batters...

No, he was sent.  JD said he disagreed with sending Bourn because Berkman was up next, but agreed with sending Cassel because Bourn was up next.

Don't know if it was blatantly bad, but Romero just learned that Cassel is good for 180 consecutive feet of running, not so much 270. Now he knows.

Throw had to be perfect. And it was.

Maybe, but Cassel was out by a mile.

Don't know if it was blatantly bad, but Romero just learned that Cassel is good for 180 consecutive feet of running, not so much 270. Now he knows.

Funny that he was sent because it actually looked like Cassel had been grabbed by Romero and pulled back towards 3rd.

That wasn't Romero. That was my old friend from track: Riggy Mortis.

Towles hit a homer off the rail above the yellow line, but it's going to be a double, with a headfirst dive into the space between 2nd and 3rd.

Slo-mo replay on the AZ feed showed it clearly made it over the wall, hit something and bounced back.  Seems like the 'thud' shoulda given them a clue as well.

Give him at best a 5.5 on the Berkman headfirst dive going towards third scale...

Do-ray says it hit the green rail.  Thinks Coop should have looked for a green smudge on the ball.

Grace (EI AZ feed) was saying that it looks like Cassel appears to drop his arm down a bit on the changeup.  I'm not seeing it (but wasn't paying a whole bunch of attention either).  Anyone?

Yeah, he's got a funny follow through, sort of pushes the ball towards home plate.  It looks like he just doesn't complete his pitch all the way.  I'm not sure if that is what causes the changeup to stay high in the zone because he threw a beauty to the guy playing in place of Byrnes (Sanchez?).  He short armed that pitch too, but it broke down really nicely.

I think Casell just throws that way.

If that's the case, then Matsui has to stop doing that and just run.  When you look home on a play like that, you're looking to see where the hitter is going to place the ball.  If it's in front of him, he's going to go into the bag hard to break up the double play or if he sees it's going to be a single behind him, he's going to go to third and avoid sliding at second.

On a straight steal, you run, don't look... RUN... to second with all the intention to slide into the bag.

Didn't understand coach's comments in the Bus Ride forum about Wigginton's ABs last night at round Rock.  Did he get HBP 3 times?

13 straight retired w/ 7 K's, 35 strikes and a mere 12 balls, I'd say that's enough.

One hell of a debut.

Just out of curiosity, I looked up RP debuts and found John Montefusco went 9 complete (starter failed to get an out) in this game, and hit a homer.

Barry Jones had 8 K's in 4 IP in his debut game here.
