With buses warming up behind the right field fence and all gear packed, stowed and ready to catch the flight home, the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves engaged in one last game for old time sake. Nothing like watching Los Bravos and the Mud and Blood play baseball to stir the emotions no matter what. So for this fan, watching the good guys pound out 5 runs and beat John Smoltz and his mates was a good thing. Eventually the game ended with the Astros on top 7-4 and Phil Garner dancing a jig. I knew I liked him for a reason.
Roy Oswalt looked sharp going five complete and tossing a ton of changeups in doing so. If Roy-oh has control of that puppy to go along with his heater and curve, he's going to be one tough mutha to beat this year... *knock on wood*. On offense, the experiment of Adam Everett at leadoff and Craig Biggio hitting in the two hole did most of the damage early and then late in the game, Morgan Ensberg iced the game with a two run blast to right field.
The team now makes a pit stop in Windy Austin, Texas today to play AAA affliate Round Rock in an exhibition game and probably drop off a few kids too. Andy Pettitte takes the hill to log more innings in preparation of his Wednesday start. Game time is set for 6:05 tonight and if this wind keeps up, expect some balls to be flying out of the park tonight.
