This week in baseball
« on: June 02, 2008, 11:23:41 am »
Given the current run of 5 consecutive Mondays off, I was worried that my frequency of contributions might be mistaken for a vanity columnist.

So I offer you the first edition of This week in baseball, SnS Style, and would love to hear everyone's comments about where they'd like to see future editions focus.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

I like this.  I like the mention of TZ discussions, this would be good even in weeks when the TZ discussion was not the direct cause of the offenses' collapse.

Hmmmm... good point.  I ate more chicken this weekend than I care to mention, so time to break out the lawn equipment, I have some work to do.

I may be partly to blame because the belt broke on my riding mower over the Memorial Day weekend and the fucking repair place still hasn't gotten to it yet. So I haven't been able to mow for more than a week and my yard is getting away from me. Though I did shoot a copperhead the same day the mower broke, and I figure it's always good karma to kill venomous snakes. That was a week and a half ago, though, so I may need to find something else to sacrifice.

BTW, great job, MM.

I am entirely in favor of other people killing venomous snakes.  I have a Henry Jones Jr.-level fear of them.

A mention of lesbians is always a crowd pleaser.  Lipstick variety, of course.

We've needed to have you with a regular outlet for your silliness rapier-like wit for some time, in addition to that a weekly roundup is a great idea.

Jay BRUCE!! is this season's you-know-who, by the way.

Great column.

SnS turning point of the week

On the afternoon of May 28, Noe came to sing the praises of the Astros’ lineup construction, which then evolved into discussion of the proper name for the Four Caballeros.

Since that time, the Astros have scored 6 runs in 5 games.

Don't know if Noe should take all the heat for this one.  Seems to me that the losing streak started about the same time the "Ponche" header was put back on top of the 'Forums' page (which would stand to reason, as that header was also the one that was on the 'Forums' page the during the first week or two of the season.

Not trying to take the (deserved) heat off Noe, just sayin'...
In the end, my dissolution with the game of baseball will not be a result of any loss of love for the game, rather from the realization that I can no longer bear the anger its supposed stewards cause to be built up in my soul. -Lee (01/08/2013)

Actually, I was the one who put the banner back up there in honor of Iron Face.  They went on a tailspin two games later.  Working on a new banner as we speak.  BTW - did some serious yardwork today/this evening/even when the sun went down.  BBGs, please forgive me.
