Home opener! Cards @ Astros
« on: April 07, 2008, 06:55:59 pm »
Am I the only one not at the game? I missed the first 3 1/2 inings, forgot it started at 6.

No score, Astros batting in the 4th.

I'm here, but working on my laptop in front of the TV, so I can't totally concentrate on the game.

Pence looked like absolute crap that at bat. JD is saying he will have to adjust to the steady diet of off-speed stuff.

Aaarggghhhh. Anybody who was doubting Jim's assessment of Pence's current travails should look at the replay of that last at-bat. Ugly with a capital U.

Pence looked bad first at bat also. Two Ks tonight for Spaz.  Wandy looks great.

I don't think anyone doubt's Jim's assessment of Pence's current goings on, but he needs to get straightened out somewhere other then the two hole.

Pence first pitch swinging.... wow.

He is pulling off badly on the breaking stuff.

Of course, his teammates don't look so hot either.

Wow, good play by Molina.  Looked like he actually positioned himself at an angle towards first prior to the pitch.  I think he was planning on throwing down after the previous pitch.

Great throw and relay from Bourn/Tejada.

Bummer for Wandy, no W.

Outstanding play by Tejada stopping that ball.

Alright! Just in time for hoops!
I remember all the good times me 'n Miller enjoyed
Up and down the M1 in some luminous yo-yo toy
But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

HOLY SHIT! Feel bad for Wandy, but DAMN that was good to see from Miggy!

Random thoughts:

Absolutely great game.  Sat in CF, watched Wandy really work it, what a superb performance.

Lots of people left after the bottom of the 8th and missed all the "fun".

When Pooholes hit the ball in the 9th, the crowd sucked in all the available air, just willing Carlos room to catch it.

Some idiot kept trying to start the wave and it just never got up the momentum, thank God.

Berkman should know better with Molina behind the plate.
