Jayson Stark gets it.

Mets Pipe Dream Dept.
We're not sure why we got so many trade ideas from Mets fans. (Possibly because, if the season started tomorrow, their rotation would include Jason Vargas.) But whatever the reason, you folks seem to think they're going to trade for every starter in America except Tom Glavine. So here come three of your potential swaps that at least got our attention:

1. Mets-A's (from Andrew of New York City): Lastings Milledge and Philip Humber for Dan Haren.

2. Mets-Orioles (from Chris in Washington): Milledge, Mike Pelfrey and Ruben Gotay for Erik Bedard.

3. Mets-Astros (from Xavier in Jersey City, N.J.): Pelfrey or Humber, plus outfield stud Fernando Martinez, for Roy Oswalt.

Two words here: No chance.

We're not sure where these Oswalt trade rumors come from. He's not getting traded.

At least now they're no longer offering Lastings Millege for Oswalt straight up (and calling it an iffy deal for the Mets because Milliege is too much to offer for Roy-oh!).  Oh and if he wants to know where these Oswalt rumors started, I suggest he follow the yellow brick road to the build-a-bear.

If the owner wasn't going to let these men trade Tejada for Ervin Santana or for Roy Oswalt, what would they be allowed to trade him for -- Albert Pujols and Chris Carpenter?

Most fascinating names that were talked about but never got traded: Oswalt, Jason Schmidt, Barry Zito, Mark Buehrle, Freddy Garcia, Javy Vazquez, Jason Marquis, Coco Crisp, Andruw Jones, Chris Young, Brad Lidge, Lance Berkman, Bengie Molina, Ted Lilly, Hank Blalock, Brad Wilkerson, Pat Burrell, Ryan Madson.

I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

Where do these rumors come from ?

From MM's link (Stark) "If the owner wasn't going to let these men trade Tejada for Ervin Santana or for Roy Oswalt,..."

...club executive vice president Mike Flanagan. "We never felt that there were any that would be strong enough for consideration to take to ownership."
Flanagan called reports that owner Peter Angelos rejected several potential deals for Tejada "totally inaccurate."
