08 mlb draft
« on: November 10, 2007, 04:33:49 pm »
Just looking at the standings it looks like we'll have the 9th or 10th pick with the Nationals also finishing with a 73-89 record, so who picks 9th and who picks 10th how is it decided? and does it flip flop in the following rounds similar to the nfl draft meaning one team picks in the 9th slot in one round then the other picks in that slot the next round?

I think the tie goes to whichever team fired more GMs.

I forget the method, but I remember someone saying we lost that tiebreaker.

Perhaps in case of tie, it reverts to best record the preceding year.
2006 Houston 82-80 / Wash 71-91

meaning the nats with the worse record the previous year get the higher pick? this would make sense..i wish it would change the preceeding rounds though with us getting the higher pick 2nd round then back to them in the 3rd..

This is correct.  Didn't we talk about this here or on the Bus at the end of the season?
