Author Topic: as has been noted elsewhere, the Astros could learn from the Rockies example  (Read 5377 times)

As we all know, there's a science to winning baseball.  Alyson Footer gets the details on the Rockies success from some long time, and very successful, baseball managers,

"The bottom line is, it has to start with the players," Phil Garner said. "Look at that fabulous run they've had in Colorado. They had a plan and they stuck with it."

Jack  McKeon  "Everything is going their way. They are getting all the breaks. They are playing great, like they really want it. They are playing unselfishly. I think they've got a chance to win it."

Clint Hurdle "The bottom line is players play the game," he said. "You can't miss that. Our players play the game. Our players hung together. They were a tight-knit group. They got tighter as the season went on. They believed in what they believed in."

Then again, it could be something more mysterious,

Rockies chairman and CEO Charlie Monfort  "I believe God sends signs, and we're seeing those."

I wonder if he sends that one where he touches his nose, then his ear, then his nose again, then the belt, the chest, then the nose again, then clap three times.

Unfortunately, that's also the sign that catches California on fire.

I'm really impressed by the Rocks.  Nothing's better than watching excellent defense.  They'll be a fun second team to follow while I'm here.  Hopefully, McLane's watching these guys and not listening to sports radio.

If we still do POTWAs, that's it right there.

No, I'm thinking that one is sent with "middle forehead, middle clavicle, left shoulder, right shoulder, kiss the fingertips, clap, clap, clap."

I made a "fire and brimstone" reference in passing to a coworker in San Diego yesterday. You'd swear I just kicked his little yip-yip dog in the head.
Another trenchant comment by a jealous lesser intellect.

You did better than CNN's Glenn Beck, who said on his radio show: "I think there is a handful of people who hate America.  Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today."

He's a special kind of crass.

You're so sensitive.  It was a joke! He was joking about the hilarity of a million people evacuating their homes.  Makes me laugh.  Besides, he said "unfortunately".  I don't know what more you want.

Don't blame him - blame the assholes that watch/listen to that crap.
I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing AstroTurf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, torture of Bud Selig.

No, but they're the reason he's given a platform.

Not many people do.  Yet he still gets a radio show and a TV show.  See Justice, Richard.

I object to that remark!  If we've learned anything from Larry Craig, Mark Foley, Ted Haggerd etc., is that fruitcakes often come from the right wing.  Left wingers are tin foil hat wearing nutjobs.

I think that after Gore made the big stink about global tepidness, the left wingers switched from tin foil to dung hats from free ranging marmosets.  And, for the record, I associate with several right wingers and not one has admitted to giving reach arounds.

There does seem to be a lot of 'em who turn out to enjoy restroom tap dancing.  Nothing wrong with that, just a shame that they don't feel that they can be themselves.
