Snipets from Former Legends
« on: October 15, 2007, 10:14:37 am »
The Lexington Paper gave snipets of their conversations with Former Legends that took place during a late season trip to Cincinnati.
Part of the article is a guessing game since they left the name off the quotes and just put the position.  Who needs editors anyway.

Here are some highlights:

Patton:
Quote
"I used to throw a lot harder than I do now. Everything's different. I throw a different breaking ball low. I attack hitters differently. ... I was like 90, 94 (mph) back then. Now I'm like 88-to-90. I move it around. I'm sinking it more. ... And I threw a big curveball back then. Now I throw a little slider, or slurve, and a two-seamer."

Paulino:
Quote
Manager Cecil Cooper sees Paulino as a possible closer because "that's an arm that you just don't see." Paulino says he has traded velocity for command: "Now I've got control for strikes. Before I could throw hard -- 99, 100 -- but never had command of my fastball. That is a good plus for me, getting my fastball 4 or 5 mph lesser, but throw for strikes."

Always ready to go to a game.
