Pence & Anderson stories in Lexington Paper
« on: October 03, 2007, 08:27:24 am »
While the Astros were in Cincinnati, apparently the Lexington paper took the chance to get some interviews with former Legend Hunter P & KY native & former Legend Josh Anderson.

Here are some snippets:

Quote
Josh Anderson has been a real pleasant surprise for me," Astros Manager Cecil Cooper said. "I saw him in the spring the last couple years and you could see there was some ability there, raw ability. He just had to harness it.

"And it looks like he's starting to figure it all out. He's played well here. And as long as he continues to do that, we'll keep running him out there. He's got some skills

Hunter on advice from Pujols on how to approach Spring Training:
Quote
"He said, 'When they ask me what I plan to do in spring training every year, I say I want to make the team,' " Pence said during Houston's final road trip of the year. "Pujols, one of the faces of the game, one of the best hitters ever to play, and he takes that attitude to spring training."

Quote
"Hunter has been just a marvelous player for us. Just an exciting player to watch," Cooper said. "He continues day after day to get hits for us. He plays center, he's played right, and he does a good job out there. He's the guy that, down the road, he's going to be the face of our franchise."

Quote
Differences between Pence the Legend and Pence the Astro are slight.

"Probably a little more balanced, a little less movement at the plate," he said. "I see the ball better, and I'm a little more selective. I used to swing at every pitch.

"In the outfield, you get better instincts the more you play, and I'm just a little bit better outfielder."
Always ready to go to a game.
