Ah Chris, you naughty boy, this was yesterday,

Although he remains adamant that he is not hurt, Sampson is cutting back on his bullpen sessions in his first full major league season.
"Bullpen sessions aren't as long, maybe cut in half.  Maybe the workout routine I've cut down a bit, not too much. You want to stay strong, but in the late part of the year you also want to conserve energy."

Garner had several closed-door meetings on Thursday, including one with pitching coach Dave Wallace and head athletic trainer Dave Labossiere. The three discussed the health of several players, including Sampson. The right-hander has been battling aches and pains, and he may have to skip a start.

He gets Sampson's next start per Greg Lucas.

Perennially cheerful Tom Franklin sez, unless someone tells him differently, Sampson will probably be out 3+ weeks despite the fact that he's on the 15-day DL. I dunno, 21 days... versus 15 days...
And, by the way, f*** off. --Mr. Happy, with a tip of the cap to JimR

It wasn't.  Just bringing up that Thursday Sampson is telling his good friend Ortiz, I'm fine, everything is fine, what? no I'm fine.

I wonder if Jennings is very far behind.

I don't think so.  Not unless Jennings says something.   They had that meeting with the trainer and the pitching coach.  That's where the Sampson decision came from.  We can't be tempted to think that they wouldn't DL Jennings if they knew he was hurt just because they already had a pitcher on the DL.

Speaking of DL'd pitchers- what's the prognosis for Backe- september 1 or thereabouts.

I think they have him pencilled in for "we'll see".  I think September is what they've been talking, 5 minor league starts. Link
