It's interesting that both Houston and the DRays passed on this offer from the Rox. Surely if TB or HOU saw Baker as the same as Wiggy, they would have taken the deal.
Logically, that is true for Houston, but not for Tampa Bay.

So yes, if the assertion is true, Houston would have taken a y + 1 deal over a y deal since we know they think y by itself is > x.
But TB obviously thinks x > y, which is why they traded for x. Whether x > (y + 1) or not is an answer we don't know.
