Rice v. UNC
« on: June 20, 2007, 02:40:58 pm »
Baby Blue dominating thus far.

Rice taking a lot of strikes and bitching at the umpire about same. only 2 hits thus far.

3-0 UNC in 6th
Often wrong, but never in doubt.

Let's hope they don't freeze like last year.  They look really tight (as in stressed and pressing).

Because?

because i saw them play three games in the regional here, and i very much like the way they play. their bench is great fun, too.

I was a student at San Jacinto Junior College when Graham was there.  He was my raquetball instructor.   Rooted for his teams since then.

I've checked Youtube at least 10 times today hoping SOMEONE got a cap of the feature about The Whammer on the game last night.

No luck so far.

We sat in the row above the UCI dugout during their first game against UT at the Dell Diamond. The Whammer was right in front of us, along with his crew of lackeys. Despite UT's buffoonery on the field, UCI's bench kept us in pretty light spirits.

On EVERY ball, The Whammer would yell "Thats not your pitch (insert player nickname here). " Then he would apply one of two saying to it... "If its high, let it fly."/"If its low, let it go."

Their bench is pretty loose, and I'd imagine that is has a lot to do with that dude.

Oh watching that brings back high school memories of my time spent as a varsity student assistant for 4 years.   I remember all the chants, weird bat concoctions, etc.

That video also didn't have their uber-lucky red bat, "The Eagle" (with The Eagle spelled out in medical tape on the barrel).

I remember one time one of our pitchers took a wooden bat and put fruit on it and left it in our dugout as our lucky bat.  It was hilarious.

I'm still rooting for UCI, eliminated or no.
