Associated Press
report.
The hit parade continued tonight, as the Good Guys pounded out 17 hits on their way to a 9-5 victory over the ridiculously pesky Angels.
Things looked grim early on, as Jason “Wide Load” Jennings scuffled and got dinged for three runs in the first two innings, two earned and one not.
The Astros struck back in the top of the 3rd on an Opie single, a PENCE!!! single, and an El Kabong three run yack to deep center just over the reach of Spiderman wanna-be Gary Matthews Jr.
The Dinkin’ Angels struck back in the bottom of the frame, taking advantage of a Vladdy double, a Matthews Jr. single to drive him in, then a Howie Kendrick double to drive Junior home.
The 5-3 lead didn’t last though, since the Good Guys rallied in the 4th with a Munson walk, an OP ground rule double, a Biggio RBI single, and a Carlos Lee sacrifice fly to pull even.
Jennings hung around until two outs had been recorded in the bottom of the 6th, giving way to Rick White with a pair of Angels on the basepaths. Apparently Mr. White found his good stuff while relaxing on the DL. He was downright filthy, blowing the Angels away for the rest of the 6th, the 7th, and 8th.
The Astros, on the other hand, continued to pound the Los Angeles Angels of Los Angeles Los Angeles bullpen, scoring 2 in the 6th on a Biggio single followed by a Thunderpants tater, and 2 more in the 7th on a Munson RBI double and a OP RBI single.
Wheeler came in to finish it out in the non-save situation in the 9th, getting three quick outs around a Chone Figgins single.
In the “Well, that sucks” department, Brad Lidge is headed to the DL according to
Astros.com due to a strained left oblique.
