Is it just me, or is Everett actually not trying to pull every single pitch all the time during his recent little surge? 

He still takes too many good pitches for a guy hitting 7th or 8th, but nice to see him swinging the bat better than he had been for a while.

That's what I noticed when he started the season hitting (fairly) well.  Then in May, I dunno what happened, if he went back to his old habits or what... But hopefully he'll keep working the count and hitting to all fields.  Nobody's asking him to hit home runs or slug .700 but if he can just be a Loretta-type hitter down here in the 7 or 8 hole, I'd be a happy man.

Right, obviously he's not going to hit at a .300 clip for his career.

I just think he has the ability to hit .250+ over an extended period of time if he just keeps doing what he's been doing lately.

Exactly.  I mean, at this point in his career, I don't see him ever getting much better as a hitter, but I also don't want to see him drop down to a .180 hitter like he was a while back.  Doesn't need to be a Loretta type hitter, just an Adam Everett type hitter. 

Plus, if guys above him are hitting what they are supposed to, probably nobody really cares what he does (to an extent, of course) down there in the line-up, anyway.  Just hit enough that he contributes occasionally, and keep the solid glove up the middle, and I'll be happy.

Not over his entire career, but for short periods of time.   Which is what you hope for out of the secondary hitters in the lineup.  One or two of them getting hot for short stretches.   Everett has hit well over .300 for about the past month.  Ausmus goes through similar stretches every season.

Adam doesn't do himself any favors when he gets pull happy. AE has a quick bat, but he makes contact too deep in the zone a lot, hence the pop ups. I don't know if it's a result of not seeing the ball well out of the pitchers hand or if he just decides to swing too late.

Ausmus was on last night. He drove that one ball just a few feet shy of the 326' in the RF corner. His back must feel a lot better.

AE said that it was actually Phil Garner (and not Sean Berry who was working hard with Adam on his swing) that noticed the hand positioning by AE was causing his little dip.  So he told him to place his hands just slighty higher to swing more level instead of elevating everything.
