Narron ejected 6 pitches into the game, bitching about a called strike 2.

Good.  Maybe they'll have as much luck with a 1-0 lead as we do.

3-0 now... still just 1 out.  This game could be over before an Astro even steps into the box.

Whatever you do don't think about Woody Williams though. THAT is what will really fuck this team over.

Damn it, I even decided to try Noe's suggestion, so I came home and mowed the yard. I come in, shower, and then turn on the TV, only to find out that we're already down 3-0.

Maybe the Fort Bend guy wrote that winning the series was "practically impossible" because he read strosrays' preview and saw that Wandy was on the hill tonight.

two out RBI double Lee off the wall to the left of the Crawford Boxes.  Ensberg scored from first without a throw home.

2 run game now, and it's early

Wandy nuts up and gets out a bases-loaded, one-out situation (after a Biggio error). Maybe that'll be a spark for everybody else.

Can Garner please explain how Lane gives you a better chance at a hit than Wandy?

Wandy put a good stroke on the ball last time up. He got jobbed on a nice play by Castro (or whoever is playing second).

Lane was a winner at every level.  he is also out of options, so even if he bats -.342, we are bound by the CBA to keep him on the roster, or face the wrath of a Trident wielding Sheriff Blaylock and his posse of rabid, switch blade toting wolverines.

Nice relay from everett.

That was definitely a lousy throw from Everett, but it's likely there's not even the need for a throw if Pence doesn't do his little chicken hop thing out there after picking up the ball.

Meanwhile, Encarnacion finds an acorn at 3B.

And yet another fantastic play.  It doesn't get much easier in tossing someone out at home.

It didnt help that Ausmus for some reason seemed determine to keep his foot on the plate, as if there was a force, instead of going and getting the ball.

Meanwhile, Encarnacion finds an acorn at 3B.

whatever, that was a routine throw for someone who is so special in the field.   And a play that someone who bats 200 HAS to make every time.

It's pretty fucking depressing to feel like a 3 run lead is completely insurmountable.

That's a two-night lead for the current crew.

I'm thinking that when you're on an eight-game losing streak and haven't shown any ability whatsoever to hit the ball, the umpires probably aren't going to be very accommodating.

Anyone listening to the radio? Milo's partner (whichever one it is) didn't even try to hide his disgust.

On another note - anyone watching on TV that can explain what happened? Both the radio broadcast and MLB.com's Gameday indicate Loretta came out, then OP pinch hit for him. Did Garner actually burn Loretta there, or what?

ETA: Gameday corrected itself, but Milo and OtherGuy (still can't keep them straight) both said Loretta came out, then got called back in favor of OP.

I'm thinking that when you're on an eight-game losing streak and haven't shown any ability whatsoever to hit the ball, the umpires probably aren't going to be very accommodating.

Nine game.  I insist this team be given full credit.

Harung batting in the 8th with runners on.  LOL.  He probably told Buddy Bell he would beat his ass if he took him out.   You dont get to face a lineup this chalked full of shit everyday.

Looked to me like Hunter had little to no idea where the ball was hit, and was Derek Belling straight to the bullpen.

Just two fly outs to the outfield tonite. Everything else was fielded by an infielder or a strike out.
The Maytag Repair Man could have been out there tonite.

On the bright side, Nails ERA is falling like his teammates batting average.

He really looks like he's starting to get it back. He's even got a little bit of that ol' JR-style wildness to keep the batters loose.

Cincinnati chili sounds very weird.  A friend from Cincy brought some to a NYE party I was at this year and it tasted like it had cinnamon in it.  She said the other famous kind of Cincy chili has chocolate in it.  Thank you, no.

I liked the one where the robbers broke in the house and then quit busting up stuff because they homeowners were Astro fans.

The robbers must have felt sorry for them.

Lost in all this is the fact that we just lost a home series to what was (before this series) the worst team in baseball.

Stand pat, Tim.  All is fine.  All.  Is.  Fine.  It's just a phase.  We're not this bad, we're just bigboned.

Heard that too... doublechecked.  36 in MLB, 20 in NL.  So, we got that going for us, which is nice.

Have we won since he signed on with the Astros?  Maybe he brought the bad luck.
