So-does Barry refuse to play 1B or what?
« on: May 16, 2007, 09:20:50 am »
I know that LF isn't a premium defensive position, but geez, Bonds is beyond horrible in LF.  Rich Aurilia starting at 1B against RHP seems like a bad bet at this point in his career.  Why haven't they put Ortmeier or Sweeney in LF? Is Bonds afraid of having to talk to baserunners?

After watching Sheffield butcher 1B last fall, it should be apparent that 1B isn't just fall-off-a-log simple. Can you imagine Bonds stretching for a throw? Or blocking a throw in the dirt? Or diving for a low liner? Hell, he might not even be able to get to the bag in time to beat a runner.

But the future has to change - and to change I've got to destroy
Oh look out Lennon here I come - land ahoy-hoy-hoy

The next person to accuse Biggio of hanging on purely for his milestone is going to get a Barry Bonds sized piece of shut the fuck up jammed up their arse.

he could not play 1B with bad knees. Mantle tried and failed.
Often wrong, but never in doubt.
