Bullpen ERA
« on: May 13, 2007, 09:00:19 pm »
These guys:
Rick White
Brian Moehler
Dave Borkowski
Dan Wheeler
Brad Lidge

have a combined ERA of 3.23

Add Qualls, and it only goes up to 3.35.

You want to talk about the unexpected positives about the '07 Astros, here you go:
Rick White
Brian Moehler
Dave Borkowski

have a combined 2.79 ERA.  You'd have to think that we have, almost without question, the best mop-up, long-middle-relief, and setup-setup-setup staff in baseball.

I am on hydrocodone, so if something here didn't make perfect crimson dragon eating my ear, I'm sorry.

Did it work for you?  Why do you look like a giant hamster with wings and a Barbie doll head?

I have some sinus infection apparently that makes my head feel like it's full of bubble gum and my body feel like it's full of razorblades.  Razorblades.  Everglades.  Gatorades.  Goldenbraids.  Fuckedthemaids.  Ate my spades.

TIGER!!!  Don't touch it!  We're flying!

It's bad stuff.

I'm on it because it's mixed with the cough suppresant and antihistamine that I'm on.

Half the time, hydrocodone works great on me.  The other half, I just feel paranoid and jellllllllllllllllllyfish!

post-op, i took Darvocet. one pill killed the pain, and that one was all i needed.

THAT is supposed to be heavy duty shit.

And I imagine the only thing that could kill the pain of kidney stones.  That sounds like the opposite of fun.  These your first?

second. the first one was 30 years ago in law school.

nothing works until the stone is out. incredible, intense, constant, knocks you to the floor pain. after the stent he left in during the procedure came out, the pain came back temporarily. Darvocet is what he prescribed when i said "no hydrocodone, please." one pill did the trick, and the temporary pain did not return.

I don't know a single person who has done kidney stones that didn't say anything short of "Most amazing thing I've ever felt.  Like giving live anal birth to a campfire, but inside my body."

Only 2?  You pussy.  I've had 3 and counting.  Fucking urologists still can't tell me what is causing them.

Hydrocodone (the 5 mg) ain't shit.  The 10 mg is better but I gotta pop 2 of those suckers when the stones hit.  ABout every 2.5 hours.
You see pal, that's who I am, and you're nothing. Nice guy, I don't give a shit. Good father, fuck you. Go home and play with your kids. You wanna work here, close. You think this is abuse? You think this is abuse, you cocksucker? You can't take this, how can you take the abuse you get on a sit?

yeah, that's me. the pussy. you're tough.

i cannot keep pain pills or anything else down after the pain starts. throw up about every ten minutes. water will not stay down. the only relief i got was a pain shot into an IV at the hospital.

no one seems to know what causes them, but a partner of mine who has an MD brother says they are developing a link between grapefruit/juice and stones.

the CAT scan shows another embedded in my kidney. i hope that sucker stays put.

Pain as an out of body experience.  Once I was driving to New Orleans when one decided to move.  That was fun.

From bullpen ERA to heavy pain meds to kidney stone smack talk while driving to nawlins to fsn-homo-crack-literature. All the best writers loved opium, by the way. A hazy metaphor of why this place is good to visit.

I had one in my kidney the urologist thought was too big to pass so they did the lithotripsy.  Pulverized that sumbitch into a powder.  Everything was cool though my urine looked like fruit punch for a while after.

Tough break with the pain pills not working for you.  I don't go anywhere overnight without my bottle of hydrocodone.  Not sure why but everyone has hit me right around 2:00 in the morning.

But back to more important things.  This team is showing some life.  Lamb and a productive Scott/Pence can make this team a contender.

Wallace/Garner have the pitchers going above and beyond the call of duty.

I recommend having your kidneys removed and replaced with a colostomy bag.  They only give you a small bag, but with a sharp knife and some duct tape, you can swap it out for a 50 gallon bin liner.  That way, you'll never lose your place at the bar nor ever miss an inning.

I read something recently that suggested it was an interaction between calcium and something called oxalites (sp?).  I kind of skimmed it, so I don't remember too many details.  But that jives with the citrus you mentioned above; the article talked about high levels of calcium from eating antacids w/ calcium.  The only source of oxalites I remember being mentioned is tea.
