Astros Trivia: Dome disaster

What former Astro once hit .344/.394/.545 with 12 homers and 65 RBIs away from the Dome in a single season? This player never had a 100 RBI season in his career.

You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

Nevermind, Simms never hit more than 9 homeruns for the Houston Astros.

Yeah, I already realized I was mistaken.

Cheo Cruz?

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Seems incredible his home/road splits. If he could have hit the same at home, he would have given Ryneberg a run for the MVP in 1984.

Good job Noe!

"former" and "still in uniform" were a dead giveaway.  It was tough before that.

Cheo was such a line drive machine, I never realized he was affected by the dome so much. Strange fact.

Of course you didn't say "still in Astros uniform".  Had you said that, it would have been too easy.

This may have been suggested before but these trivia threads would be a great section on their own.   I'm not very good at the answers and the amount of baseball history that comes of them is incredible.   Anyway, just a thought I had.  I figured it might help on the off days if I could go back and find different trivia threads to help me procrastinate at work.   If anyone knows of a search criteria for that, let me know.

It was discussed at one time to have the Reverend Wild Dog Saturday Morning Church of the Holy Trivia section in our offerings.  But the right reverend and his high priest mihoba were too busy to make it happen.

I'm sure mihoba would love to revisit this at some point with someone and perhaps get his own group of trivia researchers together for it.  But there are no plans rights now for a formalized way of delivering the trivia.  Perhaps someday soon though.

We may have to look into this again Noe, it seems to be a popular item.

I enjoy finding obsecure stats that you never knew, and part of the fun is taking the time to use the interweb to research said answer if you have no clue, so i'd willing to participate in something like this.

Thanks guys.  Seriously, I meant simply taking the existing trivia threads, and the new ones as they arise, and put them in their own section.  It never occurred to me that you twisted folks actually research obscure stats to amaze and inspire the rest of us.  Thanks for sharing the fruits of your labor!
