It wasn't that long ago I was cursing the Twins for not taking him with the first pick in 2001.

You've got to wonder what took the Cubs so long to get this addressed.  He's clearly been injured for a long time.

I don't know if he was pre-destined for arm trouble, or if Dusty screwed him up, or if the collision with Giles set a bunch of other problems in motion. It's all very odd, because much of the talk as he came out of college was about how perfect his mechanics were, and how that made him such a good bet to avoid injury.

I remember all the controversy swirling around that pick, how the Twins couldn't afford him and how this symbolizes one of the inherent defects of MLB, etc. etc. The results sure don't obfuscate the systemic flaws, but it is an interesting twist. That cheap local Mauer guy turned out alright for the Twins.

Yep, I remember all that, comparisons to Seaver, etc....
You may ask yourself, "How do I work this?"

And in other NL Central pitcher news, after tossing 3 shutout innings, Sheets just left the game with an injured groin, according the MLB Gameday.

Had the Cubs kept Prior and Wood healthy, with Zambrano, we'd be saying fuck the cubs a lot more.

Since 2004 the Cubs have paid him (counting the $3.5 mill this year) about fourteen million dollars to go 18-17. I don't feel too bad for him. Fuck the Cubs.

Equal parts desperation and incompetence.

The Cubbies are absolutely hilarious to me. Every year, anything said about them is prefaced with "if Prior and Wood can stay healthy, then..." And every year, Prior and Wood get injured.

How's that $300 mil treating you?
