Springer double puts men on 2nd and 3rd with one out. Altuve doubles down the line.

Solo HR for Chapman with 1 out. 7-5.Chapman has some Bagwellian qualities.
Giving up that grand slam to McCann was the best thing Oberholtzer ever did for the Astros. That time he beaned A-Rod is a close second.
He ran out of the baseline to avoid a tag. He's out.I knew you would say that.
North Texas 44I will bet real money that Seth Littrell will find a new employer at the end of the season. (or sooner)
Arkansas 10
4 minutes left in the 4th.
In Fayetteville.
Tyler, that was ball 3.it was a nasty slider.
Piscotty continues to kill the Astros. O's get 2 in the first and he gets a solo shot in the bottom of the frame (Bundy's given up 38 HRs this year, tops in MLB). 2-1 after 2.5It's Baltimore.
Bundy's got great stuff and has looked good outside of 2 hangers (the other was a rulebook 2B to dead CF). I wonder what his problems have been?
eta: 4-1 O's now after 4. Raining in Balmer, not hard enough to stop it yet.
These fucking dumbasses are trying to suggest that a string on Leon's glove might've gotten Altuve sliding in to home. What is the limit on glove string length. 2 inches? 6? Could you have one 90 feet long?
Nevermind that that isn't a thing, and hasn't been since 2016 .
Thought you meant as a hitter.Well, in that case, yeah.
Correct. That's pretty harsh I had him around 23rd best. Mostly due to his glove work.
He's not in the top 50Of shortstops?
Does anyone know how to get rid of that stupid ESPN crawl at the bottom of the screen if you are watching online?I don't believe that is possible.
Watched the whole series already. Pretty good.I like it. Will finish Ozark tonight after the game.
Funny how all the “they just fucked up” give the Patriots a critical break. That's good coaching.
The NFL can review it too. That’s someon’e job to look at every play and say “wait, that was close”.I agree. But rather than go all Alex Jones about it, I'm gonna think they just fucked up.
Google is telling me C major, and B major and G# minor. In other words, nobody knows.Mr. Diamond was tricky that way. Cracklin' Rosie changes keys in the song!
3 ER in .1 innings June 1,That was the one...
I love George, but it's a pity he's tied with McCann for worst base stealer on the teamWasn't he a 40-40 guy the one year when he split time between AA and AAA?
Am I wrong to think Correa would have made that play last year, or early this year? The thought crossed my mind but have no idea. He laid out for it, and it was a rocket.
The guys facing off against David Price tonight...
1. Springer (RF)
2. Altuve
3. Bregman
4. Correa
5. White (DH)
6. Gurriel (1B)
7. Reddick (LF)
8. Maldonado
9. Marisnick (CF)
Cole
I love how he tells his fans at his rallies that it's their fault if he gets impeached.Well, it's their fault he got elected.
you know the Astros have found a vein of talent up there, right? What's the story?
Same. You never grow out of it.
This Twins pitcher... name rings a bell... anyone know anything about him?I think he had a famous high school coach or something.
You mean the franchise that pissed away the prime of a generational player fucked up?It's kind of crazy that Trout has played in one playoff series. A 3 game sweep by the Royals in 2014, in which he batted .083.
Go figure.
Is that supposed to be... a joke? He's not that clever.
The line. It’s way behind you.Is that the plank in eye removal line?

I have a Buck Owens guitar in my collection, by the way.Cool, I'm jealous... The Gibson or Harmony version?
The first phone number I remember was 58864I think it was the phone number to Junior Samples' used car dealership.
Later was HO (Homestead) 58864
I watched Hee Haw, but his reference was lost on me.
Imagine that you're Jeff Luhnow, and the Angels call you this off-season and offer a straight-up trade, Simmons for Correa. Do you do it?
I hope you’re joking because, otherwise, you’re talking about a civil war.I read a blog post he linked to from his Facebook account where he basically said the same thing. I don't think he is kidding.
Which matters not at fucking all tonight or last night.Okay... Just don't let it stress you out too much, Jim. Or as you have often told me, chill.
I fucking cannot stand the “but he is hitting .326” shit. What did he do with the bases loaded and one out tonight?
Stuff that “to be fair” shit.
Its pure something. To be fair he has had 9 hits in two games before. Sample size being what it is and all.
Cam Maybin is who he is.Nope.
I have no fucking clue what’s a strike tonight. If he stares down the batter, it's a strike.
Fucking shit. This is very depressing. And I"m tired of Simmons bending us over. They can walk him for the rest of the season as far as I'm concerned.I wish we had a slick fielding shortstop that can also hit.
Well, Framber ain’t been the problem tonight.I think he’s good for another inning.
I don't think so. his helmet is still on his head to start with. Someone bumped in to him and knocked it off running up with a water bucket.I think that was Lance McCullers.
Wonder if we are in on anyone. Harris needs to stop pitching.Or at least never pitch with inherited runners.
Not an Astro ache and pain, but it concerns the Astros given they are playing the Angels next. Albert Pujols had knee surgery and is done for the season. He should retire. To continue to play at such a poor level is tarnishing his otherwise fabulous career.
Fisher, JD Davis, Tucker.Reed...
The last 2 probably just need more time.
Yep. Meant Monday. Got my days confused. For what it's worth, he did hit one on Friday too.
Yep, very similar HR.On Monday. I don't know about the one on Friday.
Not sure what Hinch is thinking! Updates on phone but 3 walks and you leave him in. No excuse
I only have Game Day so I can't tell, but is Dull really that sharp? He makes a point of honing in on the zone.

I just got home, is anyone else having issues with at bat or the att sports app?MLB.tv on my Samsung TV is working but my ATT Sportsnet is doing the same as yours.
At bat stops fucking working when I try to do the in market streaming but every non in market game works fine.
Att keeps showing the double in the top of the 6th and then stops working.

Interestingly, it seems ok on my iPhone and computer. I just would rather watch on my TV.I often hook my laptop up to my TV via HDMI and watch on AT&T Sportsnet. That way I get the pregame and postgame not included with MLB.Tv
Are you watching MLB.TV? I know it's around 30 seconds or so behind the live feed on DirecTV. And that's if you're not having any buffering issues. That's me. I usually have to "reconnect" between innings to make up for time lost buffering, otherwise I end up 2 or 3 minutes behind by the 5th inning.

I want to hear SD’s Green Chile salsa recipe. What did you add to make it spicy?I started with 3 large whole hot Hatch chiles, boiled them with a couple of garlic cloves, then blended in a cup of water with a pinch of salt and a pinch of cumin. It was too thin and too spicy, so I finely chopped up two tomatillos and a mild Hatch chile and added to the mix and let it simmer for 20 minutes. The tomatillos add a desired mild tang. I've already wiped it out. Gonna have to make more.

This green chile pork looks fan fucking tastic. I’m kinda proud of myself. After my trip to New Mexico and since it's the season, I got inspired to make a hot Hatch Green Chile salsa with fresh ingredients--like I had a Horseman's Haven. It's good and spicy. I'm kinda proud of myself.

Verlander is up to 26 HR's on the season (including the ones today). His career high is 30.I'm betting the over.
That’s pretty much it. You’re not getting three runs off of Manea and the A’s pen.How about 4 runs?

Unless it's a long term thing that gets worse the more you see it.Some kind of cumulative physiological effect seems counter intuitive to me. It would have to be psychological. A hitter is not focusing on an object 400 feet away. So if the batter's eye is a problem it has to do with the background color. I'm pretty sure blue or green are better background colors than red or yellow as far as the ability to pick up a white ball against colored background.
Or it actually is different/irritating, and having to look at it for half the games sucks. All I'm saying is the other teams sees it for half the game too and it's no excuse for losing.
ATTENTION! I have an announcement.Well, we got a good radio team.
I decided not to watch the game tonight after Frito pie failed yesterday. Apparently my not watching unleashed the offense. Unfortunately for me, what this means is....
Lee Harvey or Patton? He acted alone.

Beautiful job by Bregman taking that curve to right center.Just like a hitter. Leadoff double.
I am sure it has appeared elsewhere, but this is the first mention I have seen of grumblings about the new CF batter's eye.If they can outscore teams on the road most of the time, they should be able to outscore teams at home most of the time. The opposition has to look at it too. I say it's a bullshit excuse to blame it on losing at home. They're just in a prolonged slump and are plagued by injuries. They still have the same record as last year give or take a game.
Can anyone provide a primer on this issue?
JV recovered nicely from 3-0 there.Very nice.

I was going to respond to this but just asked myself why. The moral high ground is too steep for me to climb. I know what redemption is and believe in second chances. Those who are remorseful and contrite and who sincerely seek forgiveness and an opportunity will earn their second chance every day of their lives.
I am trying hard not to comment on the smug moral superiority and rush to judgment I see. He apparently did a bad thing and has been punished. None of us knows what happened. He, like my daughter, deserves a chance to atone and to be forgiven. He, like my daughter, deserves the opportunity to become the kind of person he should be. Perhaps the Houston Astros will help him in his endeavor. If he, like my daughter, has not truly changed, he will lose his job and be punished again.
I, for one, am going to wait, watch, and hope his remorse and contrition are real. I will hope fervently his changes, like my daughter’s, are permanent. If they are, he has my unqualified support.
My attitude no doubt is greatly influenced by personal experience. If you ever live through a similar experience, God forbid, perhaps you will better understand.
So maybe, Godfather-like, Trump's Russian benefactors asked him to do a simple thing for them: run for President and generally run interference on western democracies. I'm sure there was no intention or expectation to win, which is why the tracks were so poorly covered, but win he did.The best laid schemes of mice and men
I don't like or condone what he did at all but as far as I'm concerned, due process, punishment and whatever happens from now forward is what matters. If the Astros are willing to take the risk then I have no problem with it.Same here. His leash will be short.
I opposed the Brett Myers deal for the same reason. And Pedro Astacio.

So my suggesting a hit and run every once in a while is gross overreaction and I need to chill? The way this team is playing right now they need to take a few gambles to shake things up. What they’re doing now ain’t working, but we can agree to disagree.Even I think you tend to overstate things.

His versatility is very valuable. Last year was unexpected. I would but not by breaking the bank.Exactly. Last season's offense was icing. His value is his ability to play damn near everywhere on the diamond.
We're gonna waste that leadoff double, aren't we?Why not?
For what it's worth, I think Tucker's .1XX is down the middle of the list of this team's problems.Agreed. Missing 2 of the best players in MLB is at the top. I would still like to see Tucker bat second with Bregman batting third.
Is Marwin ever going to return to last year's form? That's going to be a tough decision this off-season unless he lights it up in the next couple of months.I want old Marwin back so bad.
You have to be patient. Dammit.Yeah, I know. Never claimed to be virtuous...

I used to wistfully what-if about picking Bryant instead of Appel and having Bryant at 3B. But if that had happened we wouldn't have Bregman, and I'm beginning to think that Bregman might be the better long-term player than Bryant.

Isn’t Osuna a wife-beater? No thanks.I think a female acquaintance-beater. Plus the charges could fuck with getting a work visa for any team not in Canada.
I have zero confidence in Britton's ability to stay healthy. It may turn out to be a poor decision, but I'd let some other team assume that risk.Same here. I'm not worried about his ability as much as his availability.

A fly ball is very, very, very rarely better than a hit. So much so that it’s also a dumb argument to make.I think by stating "putting aside whether it's a hit or an out," he means is the outcome of a fly ball in play, on average, is greater than the outcome of a ground ball in play.

I doubt it was audible with a commentary track on, but Reddick or someone (off screen, from the dugout probably) could be heard clearly yelling to the umpire (rightly) “It was off the fuckin’ plate!” after he struck out; ump responding accordingly by barking something back.I heard a bit of it.

I have friends, that have college degrees, that support the policies of this administration. I wish they would look beyond their party and see the bigger picture. But, until they are hit in the pocketbooks and realize that Democrats are not to be blamed, they will stick to their self-righteous beliefs.I'd venture to say we all have some friends and family that support the policies of this administration. I don't know, maybe some have actually cut off contact and unfriended them. All my closest friends are liberal/progressive democrats, but I've got more than a few old co-workers and family members that sure seem to support his policies.
Agincourt: Part DeuxIf archers are strategically placed in the stands on both sides of the field, I give the edge to England.
What is inaccurate about someone’s opinion? The scout thinks Abreu is who the Astros need. You do’t. BFD.I live over the edge, man. My issue is with the phrase, "you can start printing World Series tickets now." I guess for sake of keeping the scout's opinion accurate, the ballclub should start printing World Series Tickets now. But that would be as dumb as the opinion.
You have gone over the edge.
It is one scout’s opinion. Not lazy. Not cheap. Not sensationalism. His opinion, which is as valuable as yours. Chill. It is a fine example of journalistic sensationalism--presenting information in a way that is intended to provoke public interest and excitement, at the expense of accuracy. I guess lazy and cheap are subject to individual interpretation.
LameWell, it was funny to me, and that what's really important.
He was quoting a scout.A cub or boy?
There's been no shortage of excitement in this tournament. No kidding, on to penalty kicks. With the Croat goalie hobbled, you almost have to give the edge to Russia.
Funny thing, we go to Paris next. Their match is Tuesday.Sweet!
No. Marisnick broke his thumb 9/13/17.Correct, he missed time in to the DL (7 day concussion) in April 2017 and then in September when he broke his thumb.
Back at the pub. Got here in time to hear the patrons sing God Save the Queen. Are you in London? What Pub?
Mood is upbeat, but reserved (of course, they're British and they're soccer/football fans).
I just don’t feel right about paying a premium for a giveaway.Which begs the question, are the one's they give away at the games, one size fits all, or are they sized differently and you tell them what size (11) you need? Also what do they have on them in place of a player's name? The replicas I've seen online are sized and you can choose between Springer, Altuve, or Correa.
I’m resigned to not getting one.Yeah, me too.
The fact that there are two other AL teams on pace for at least that many wins, and that they're named Boston and NY, has quite a bit to do with that, I think. Also, Machado and Lindor lead Correa and both are having a better season than him. Trout, Bettis, and Judge are all having a better season than Springer.
I'm not crazy about putting a couple of guys on each inning and leaving them there.I don't much care for that trend.
It was the kid's call.Ultimately yes, but he got bad advice.
From a recent Jonathan Mayo Q&A:Too bad for the guy (but good for the Astros) that Gretchen Carlson's husband basically screwed the kid out of $2.5MM.
"All reports were that he had a healthy offseason and was looking forward to turning a corner in '18. Then, he vanished. There's been no news of a particular injury, but there were things that needed to be addressed based on his '17 season. His stuff backed up, with a dip in velocity, his walk rate spiked and he missed fewer bats. Physically, he got bigger and had trouble repeating his delivery, which of course leads to command issues. So it's possible the Indians simply needed to hit a reset switch with him, hold him back in Arizona and almost start over again."

After the Astros didn't sign him, Aiken went to IMG Academy, sort of a "post-grad" school for athletes. He tore his UCL in the first inning he pitched, and had to have Tommy John surgery. The Indians drafted him in 2015, and he's still in their system. He was at low-A ball last year, but didn't do too well. As far as I know he's still in the Indians' system, but I don't know for sure.
I looked up the name Verlander the other night. It literally translate to "pasture dweller".'Verlander' denotes 'the dweller by or on the pasture land'.
I assume the term means the opposite of "dirty food". What other usage is there? It's Marketing terminology for non GMO ingredients and shit like that. It's just another way to reach a new target market without alienating the people who just want their shirt fresh and tasty.
While we wait for the Astros to start vaunting in the 7th, I have a question. My wife pointed out last night the the American flag on the jerseys is backwards. Why is this? I’ve never noticed but now that she’s pointed it out that’s all I see.Think of it as the backside of the flag.
He's looked pretty weird for a while now.Yes, he really has.
I have a major problem with showboating. I rooted for him to STFU and play well when he was an Astro, but I am glad he is gone.I never liked Gomez before he became an Astro and I liked McCann since that time he got in Gomez's face for dicking it around the bases that one time. I don't like showboating either. However still, when Gomez was an Astro, I guess I got to know him a little better due to the increased exposure and better understood, at least, his perspective on the behavior, Of course I rooted for him to do well while he was here.

so, she drove him then rode the gravy train? Maybe she is smart enough to have done it all herself. Nah, she rode his gravy train. She obviously is quite intelligent. Bill has said he had wanted to be in public life as an elected official since his high school days. Not sure how much credit she gets for driving him, more like helping him steer when he swayed off course--as he was wont to do from time to time. She was very shrewd to hitch her wagon to him because it made everything that was to follow possible. I really don't think anyone would know who she was if not for her marriage to Bill. She certainly doesn't get elected to the Senate without having been the First Lady. And doesn't get Secretary of State if not for being a Senator. To paraphrase Jimmie Dale Gilmore, She was the wave, Bill was the water. In my fevered mind, women like Lupe Valdez and Wendy Davis have done far more on their own merit than has Hillary.
And she wasn’t just someone’s fucking wife. What a thing to say.You are right, in the Clinton's case, I don't think there was much fucking with each other going on anymore. What I meant was, the best thing she ever did was marry Bill. It was mutually beneficial for both, she drove and supported him. It put her on the map. And that she's been riding that gravy train ever since.
Find me one registered Democrat who believes their side is absolutely correct about everything and I’ll eat my shorts. Find me two Democrats who agree about everything and i’ll eat their shorts too.Well, I'm not eating any shorts.
This thread is overflowing with condescension, fantasy, and purely hyperbolic nonsense that muddies the debate. Truth in any form is at a premium- Mr. Happy is hardly the only, or even the largest, offender. There is never an honest debate when each opposition party believes their side is absolutely correct and the other side is absolutely wrong. Even when the same result is desired, they argue over methodology. And if you don't totally buy in to one side or the other, you get accused of lacking passion and being apathetic or even cynical.
And another thing, the idea that anyone can make a persuasive counter-argument to Trump loyalists is idiotic. That is true to for about 75 to 80 percent of Trump voters. They are impenetrable sycophants. The other 20 to 25 percent can be persuaded. I realize it is hard for some to see the difference between someone who chooses out of desire and one who chooses out of frustration. But anyway carry on and we'll see how it plays out.
[not sure if serious gif]If only it were a popularity contest. And let me tell you, I had correctly predicted every presidential election going back to President Johnson over Goldwater. Every damn one. She fucked me. Damn right I don't like her, it's personal.
And let me just say that sure, maybe Hillary wasn't the best possible candidate. Sphinx certainly doesn't like her and we all admire his unerring political instincts. But she did win the popular vote by a healthy margin.
So, given all of that, if Hillary is literally the worst that the Democrats can do, I'd like to think that there is reason for optimism among sane and decent people going forward.
OR...if everyone around you - from cabinet members to campaign members to family members - has had meetings with Russians that were only disclosed under duress...Exactly like that. One can't help but wonder.
Huh? You said something about the supporting a maniac. Your words. Supporting a maniac fits “crazy” in my mind. So, coddling those who support a maniac is the sentiment I’m referring to.
Also, coddling those that spout inane falsehoods also fits mt definition of crazy.
Supporting Trump with facts isn’t crazy, I just don’t see much of that.
C'mon Hap, you're too smart for that tinfoil hat shit.Exactly, just because they've had a whole lot of close associates die (far more than anyone else I know of outside of the mafia) under abnormal circumstances, doesn't mean they had anything to do with it. That is just such a reach and I'm not suggesting anything but that there are numbers there. Some on the dark side would say that's just doing business...
I’m so sick of this sentiment: don’t offend the crazy as they’ll just bow up. We all have a responsibility for our actions and our honesty. Those are the rules. Everyone has to play by them, none get breaks.I don't know what you mean by "don't offend the crazy." Are you suggesting that it is wise not to got to mental hospitals and such and attempt to offend the patients? If so, I agree.
We went very very very very very wrong somewhere.Yes, and her name was Hilary. I don't understand why or how Donald Trump could be elected if not for the incompetency of the Democratic Party. I know y'all don't like it when I say this kind of stuff but it's true and until liberals and or progressives recognize what it takes (hint: Obama-like Bill Clinton-like and not their goddamn wives) the Democrats will continue to lose. Hilary, as bad as she was, she still almost won. That should be encouraging to the democratic party because almost anyone would be better than Hilary. I hate to think that people have already conceded the next election to Trump. That makes me sick. Surely there is some self accomplished charismatic person that can inspire the way Bill Clinton and Barack Obama did and unite the party and defeat Trump.
I can't remember seeing it in soccer before, at least not with the keeper that far forward. Mexico used to move their keeper up to midfield back in the 90s (forget his name) and sometimes substitute in net so that he could attack full-time late in games, IIRC.Rene Higuita of Columbia was well know for doing that in the 90s.
Germany "pull" the goalie - pushing Nueur up front - and get caught.
Did you ever play sandlot baseball with neighborhood kids? That is how I spent my summers.
I agree. Sandlot is a classic right up there with the others.I didn't like it that much but it was better than the one with the monkey or the kid pitcher.
Oh they most certainly do.Well, if you say so.
Dingers #2 and #3 tonight. He's swinging a stout stick. Can't wait for his first tripel.
And now El Tri has to beat/tie Sweden to advance. What an entertaining group. Fuck El TriOr Germany lose or tie S Korea.... I normally hate El Tri but this is a little different with no USA team. I have foound myself rooting for Mexico. I've got a lot of Mexican friends.
If the Astros flip a coin at a home game it’ll always land on its side... because LED lights and tight gaps and stuff.
Probably celebrating with the Croatian branch of the organization.
The fedora is awful.I'd like one.
