Why limit it to the playoffs? I say whistles and stomping all season long.

I want MMP to sound like a revival of Stomp during the playoffs next year.
Manfred speaks:
Major League Baseball's investigation into the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal remains underway but no other teams are currently under suspicion, commissioner Rob Manfred told reporters Wednesday.
"I have no reason to believe it extends beyond the Astros at this point in time," Manfred said at the owners meetings in Arlington, Texas, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.
Yuli has been a great addition. Fuck “racist gesture.” He seems to be loved in the clubhouse.
Slick trick to cheat in Dodger Stadium.
Of course they did, but being lucky in being born well does not mean they lack talent or ability. Thinking otherwise without personal knowledge is an insult.
Reid Ryan did not have “a baseball job.” This is a corporate business position, not a baseball job. Luhnow and his staff handle baseball.
If a baseball background were required before being hired, many front offices in MLB would have to get rid of there nerds and analysts.
Y’all are just looking for something to bitch about.
Doesn’t sound like The Old Man is taking it well:
Mark Berman tweeted:
Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan says in a text message he will not continue in his role as an executive advisor to the owner of the #Astros: “I will not be back with the club and will leave it at that.”

Did he get his breasts caressed like Suzuki did?
Talked to a guy I didn't know before today, a Rockies fan who recognised my Astros and asked me what happened? I just said they blew a great opportunity for another title. His explanation, the gnats just wanted it more... it sounds cliche maybe, but hard to argue.
Frito Pie doesn't guarantee a win, it's simply preparation and dedication. It's like hitting a 2-0 line drive 110 mph with the bases loaded...it usually plates two runs, but baseball is a cruel mistress sometimes and the BBGs are fickle. You do what you can do, not matter what.
My seats were too high up to judge HPU’s work, but he looked consistent. Only y’all watching TV can say. The replay of the 2-1 pitch to Soto shows HPU missed it, and Greinke’s reaction showed he thought so too. I am beyond bummed about Greinke’s effort being wasted, and the media’s fixation on “it should have been Cole” in the 7th angers me. Hinch made the absolute correct choice if Greinke was coming out. After Eaton grounded out in the 7th, I allowed myself to think “If he gets the next two guys, he may pitch a complete game shutout.” I did not say it to anyone, but maybe my thought alone jinxed him. Ugh.
I keep thinking (against my rational mind) this result was pre-ordained. Certainly was at least bad luck at the worst time.
Cortisone shots basically shut off your immune system, which eliminates all the swelling/inflammation. I got one when I had a severe cold last year. I was up 24 hours straight and felt like a god.
The catch is...it shuts off your immune system. What could possibly go wrong?
So I guess I’ll ask the question.
Do the Astros dump Osuna, either via trade or outright release, in the off-season in an effort to try and right this ship in the face of all that has gone on?

Don't like Soto?
Get him out.
The only thing I don't like about the Nationals is that they are paying great.
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!?
and there is life.
let's go uncle mike
Nobody beats us by 10 runs.
Damn.
Booth audio was out.
But they fixed it.
Fucking HR to the 8 hole in a tie game.
Now he's done sucking as AJ puts us out of his misery.
They pitched a very impressive bullpen game against the Yankees, but I'm not sure anything short of a shutout will suffice.
Greinke needs to go nuts like he did in Seattle, or we're probably fucked.
Oh come on. The Nationals are on fire. They can do no wrong. The Postseason is like that.
Too bad, they should try harder
I don't. They have $3,000 to spend to go to a baseball game.
Did you miss the first batter?
That's how it started.
This is not unfolding according to the script.
reddick is practically an automatic out right now
Kurt Suzuki is killing the Astros.
Buck droning on about football...
Hit it over the shift, Yordan.
How do you characterize Altuve's blunder - stupid, selfish? Given the game situation and the skewed risk-reward ratio, there is no justification for the steal attempt. It's not just that he forfeited the go ahead run for his team, but how many more stress pitches could the Astros have put on Strasburg? Hard to gauge how much damage he caused to his team's chance to win the game.
He calls the action just fine for me.
I don't think he is known for his ability to throw out runners either.
I can't remember the last time the Astros had a clean inning after scoring.
Shot of the Astros in the dugout discussing tipping pitches
Thank you, aliens!
Correa and Alvarez swapped in the lineup again:
https://twitter.com/brianmctaggart/status/1187098662360489991?s=19
Upsides...lots of bullpen use. Downsides, our bats are dead.
do you just walk bregman?
I understand. I’m just saying Alvarez went from an automatic out versus the Yankees to three productive plate appearances tonight. It’s progress.
time for machete to get a hit so diaz can bunt him over and springer can get him home. jose will then get a double, they'll walk Brantley again. then bregman will finally get a hit.
Yordan just failed in a big spot, but he’s had an encouraging night at the plate. Two singles and a walk before that appearance.
FWIW, I think Yordan's big problem is the long season. I think he's tired. People used to talk about that. Maybe it isn't true anymore.
Altuve's heroics the other day aside, the guy I most want to see at the plate in a big situation right now is certainly Yuli.
The Aldemys Diaz Postseason PH Experience has been quite underwhelming.

The Astros need some vaunting thisinningseries.
This is an especially good question considering Corbin is the one warming up for the Nats.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Scherzer pitching into the 5th.. at 101 pitches with 1 out.
Not as much as the lineup has so far.
The 1-1 FB was the one to hit.
Sometimes the pitcher wins.
But damn we're are missing opportunities.
I’ll grant him that, but the glove moved quite noticeably. Either way, the play should be reviewable.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
MLB review is a jooooooooke.
The fact that something that obvious can't be reviewed tells you all you need to know about the umpire's union.
I doubt even Altuve would have swung at that.
Not one hundred per cent sure, though.
I want to see Yordan have a better at bat.
Does anyone think Reddick could've brought back LeMahieu's home run? I think yes.
Neither has Brantley on that breaking ball.
Neither has Brantley on that breaking ball.
T6:
Gurriel...take a pitch at his shoulders for strike one...fouls off one in the dirt...1-2...lines out to RF
Correa...full count...walks on a pitch closer than strike two
Alvarez strikes out swinging
Boone out...leaves Paxton in
Chirinos flies out F7 at the wall on the first pitch
4-1 Yankees
Astros have had baserunners in every inning.
Stevie Wonder
Me too, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards.
They're resting up for tomorrow.
And one went down. Another can't mathematically decrease any further.
So the Astros have four guys in a row tonight hitting: .056, .176, .063, and .000.
Wild pitch (should have been caught) plates a run...1-0 Astros
I assume there are other connections, but the son of his longtime hitting instructor and friend is autistic.
I'm hoping that Cessa gets distracted enough by Marisnick to make a mistake with Bregman.
And unlike Boone, AJ has a bullpen full of great arms for the ninth.
Having to Gameday...are they reviewing it?
Anyone else think Sanchez does a horrible job of blocking?

Why the umpire switch?
Hurts Cole. NYY conspiracy.
I really wish someone would jump over the barrier and hit A-Rod with a folding chair. What a fucking dicknose he is.
Exactly. This is not hard to figure out.
Also, Joe Fucking Smith
See you guys on Wednesday, that was a rough one.
I've got a really bad feeling about this at bat.
God. Fucking. Damnit.
WHY THROW SOMETHING HITTABLE WITH 2 STRIKES?!
This is fucking infuriating.
I hope Alvarez talk to Yuli about this at-bat.
Send altuve here?
Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
I doubt that Sanchez could both catch the ball *and* throw accurately to second, but I doubt they'll send him.
Who's in the BP? James, Peacock, Pressley?
Buck said Diaz.

Diaz in for Tucker.just heard that. I can't say i'm disappointed.
Chirinos batting?
He needs to swing at the fastballs and stop letting them go to get down in the count.

I am so mother. fucking. tired. of this team taking meatballs for strike one.
Did Buck say that? I guess I missed it when I walked out of the room for a moment.
Wow, nice assist by Altuve.

I understand it.
But now he's out after seeing 1 pitch in the zone.
Over. Matched.
Pinch hitting for Jake there was a desperation move. Terrible.
Our pen is going to have to handle at least three innings tonight. I wish that worried me less.
Well, I sincerely hope Yordan can hit one in the stands.
We finally get a lucky one to fall in

Ordinarily I'd be optimistic about tomorrow with Verlander on the mound, but since we're in an American League park and he won't be batting, I'm not sure where the runs will come from.
Listening on the radio. Sounds like it's all Yankee fans there. Not as many as you’d think. They have reasons to cheer.
A lot. Reddick makes contact; Marisnick does not. Reddick also is an elite defender.
My guess is the rotation after game 4 is subject to change for the same reasons JV pitched on short rest. This team will get a huge boost if Greinke can step up and beat the damn Yankees.
Here's what we need:
1. 1 run in the 7th - to remind ourselves what this feels like (scoring a run)
2. 2 run dong in 8th Alvarez or Yuli (get within a run)
3. Game tying steal of home in the top of the 9th by Straw
4. Game goes to the 15th inning and we get a walkoff from Ted
There... this is best I can make with this shit given,
7 guys hit over 30 Homers - just asking for barrel on a ball to the stands to remind our guys what is possible.
How about George? We need to get him going.
I for one am not too optimistic about the Astros winning on Thursday either. Today was the day. They'd rather be somewhere else.
We need some belief.... its too predictable (pop-ups, tappers to the mound, and stupid takes).
We score in bunches --- all it takes is one and then we go from there.
It's fucking embarrassing how much they're sucking off the crowd of the team that had the second lowest regular season attendance this year.
I'll give them a call.
I hope Garrett has a shutout in him Thursday.
These at bats are fucking pathetic.
Which location? I may try to join.
What bothers me more than JV going today is the talk about the rotation for the ALCS. Win today.
As for me, I'm wearing my orange today, which I do not care for as much as the navy, but this is the shirt I wore on Opening Day when JV beat the Rays. Frito Pie and Love Street.
Keep in mind that not all providers are participating in the coverage. Here's the chart:

Anybody worried?
There doesn't seem to be the McCullers/Morton/Peacock option this year as in '17. Who steps up if the usual reliables fall through?
There are only two things that smell like fish.
As luck would have it, my company is upgrading its IT this weekend, and so we're shut down for the day. I will be at Johnny McIlroy's watching the game if anyone cares to join me.
Point of order: wear my WS Game #7 shirt, or save that powerful juju for later?
In other Drayton news, he is suing Crane for purposely tanking in 2012-13 to undermine Comcast Sportsnet. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/astros/article/Drayton-McLane-charges-Jim-Crane-Astros-tanked-14484014.php
I can't imagine investing in a business model that revolves around the fortunes of a single, or even two, sports teams' performance to determine profits.
Because Judge and that other guy got hurt?
Well shit.
Also:
Gerrit Cole: 200 strikeouts. How cute.
Trump: "“I want to know who’s the person, who’s the person who gave the whistleblower the information? Because that’s close to a spy. You know what we used to do in the old days when we were smart? Right? The spies and treason, we used to handle it a little differently than we do now."
Fear leads to the dark side. I don't have fear but legitimate questions. The left has not sufficiently answered those questions.
In this instance you picked medicare for all which happens to be one of the least on my list that I object to. That why I tried to give you 2 for 1 to start with.
I am most interested in the overall cat-n-mouse game being played here. So many teams are following the Astros high draft pick generating "model" that the value of the play is increasingly diluted. I wonder how many are also following the minors development part of the model as well. It will be fun to see what the next innovation is that they dream up to stay ahead of the pack.
You obviously missed my point. A group of you (and you know who you are) say almost nothing but negative things about the team. I'm not even sure that some of you are really Texans fans down deep. Perhaps the Tennessee Titans nee' Houston Oilers really is your team. The stark difference between the misery that we've all endured as Astros fans, I've heard very little of comments like "the GM's an idiot. AJ's lineups and pitcher usage is horrible. etc. ad nauseum." We maintained a positive outlook during the Astros darkest days. I've heard nothing positive about the Texans. You should be grateful that it appears that you've got a QB. Cheer about that.
Suit yourself. Wallow in your misery. We'll just have to read many more comments from people who never coached or played about BOB being an idiot and the club's numbnuts owner and GM. I'll take Sean Payton any day of the week.
Astros rotation rest of season, with news Jose Urquidy has earned a start:
Today: Verlander
Tuesday: Cole
Wednesday: Greinke
Thursday: Miley
Friday: Urquidy
Saturday: Verlander
Sunday: Cole
According to McTaggart tweet (ETA) and HH.
And according to me a half hour ago, Dr. Cabrera.
And I’m afraid Hinch is going to run his usual AAA lineup out to back up Verlander tomorrow. They’d better fucking win another game because the A’s ain’t losing another one.
I'd think Yuli was a bit upset that it was about to hit him right in the fucking knee right before the postseason.
The Yordan shot was oppo taco just inside the fair pole and bounced off the tip top of the railroad track wall.
The Gurriel hpb was bush league garbage. Budgirl may need to rethink things.
I guess the problem is it plays into the "Fake News" narrative. It's going to be called fake news by Trump supporters no matter what, but leaving out these details gave something of substance to be pointed to backing up the fake news claim.
NY crushed Tor 13-3
Oak leads Arlington 7-5 in the 7th
I'll worry about all this when the playoffs get here.

I think having to play hard until the end is a good thing. Teams that can coast in have a hard time turning on again.
So today Trump went full on crazy suggesting he be given back time as President that was "stolen" due to his many scandals. I guess that's sort of how "injury time" works in soccer?
CFM v. JV
Hope the offense is there.
Pujols in a "run"down.
That made my day.

My vote is for Himalaya.
I cannot abide Popeye's. In fact, I find it particularly distasteful. If I want fried chicken, it's Frenchy's or nothing. On the other hand, I love CFA's chicken sammich. And their waffle fries...I'm all about the surface area to mass ratio.
I do not believe for a second that Trump will not win Texas, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. He will win a second term easily. It simply doesn't matter what ridiculous or evil thing he does or how he hurts people. People will believe they deserved it and God wanted them to be punished by such a godly and honorable man. Plus, Hillary used a private server.
While complacency is and would be a terrible thing, here's the latest state polling on Trump's job approval; the state-by-state numbers being important because that's how the game is played.
Trump is underwater in:
- Michigan (by 11)
- Pennsylvania (by 12)
- Wisconsin (by 10)
- North Carolina (by 9)
- Virginia (by 17)
- Utah (by 3)
- Texas (by 1)
- New Hampshire (by 26) (not a typo)
- Iowa (by 4)
- Arizona (by 9)
- Colorado (by 18)
- Florida (by 3)
- Georgia (by 5)
- Minnesota (by 15)
- Nevada (by 23)
- New Mexico (by 9)
- Ohio (by 2)
Also with:
- Independents (by 10)
- Women (by 25)
- Every age group except over 65s
- Every ethnic group except whites
While the Democrats' path to 270 is narrow, Trump's is narrower than his baby fingers wrapped around his micropenis. In 2016 he threaded the needle by < 80,000 votes across MI, PA & WI and, right now, his job performance is disapproved of by double-digits in each of those uber-critical states. He's also underwater in Ohio, Florida, Arizona, Texas, Georgia and U-fucking-tah. Job disapproval doesn't necessarily translate into votes - hence the eleventying-down on the racism - but he can't afford to lose a single state he won last time and right now he's in danger of losing a lot of them.
It's the economy, stupid. And while the Dow is good, that isn't trickling down to the miners and car workers and many, many others for whom he promised to make things great again. He's also chopped off farmers at the knees and is trying desperately not to fuck up holiday shopping.
"His" people are the ones taking it in the ass the most; they should be the ones to run him out of the White House on a rail - a heavily reinforced, steel rail - directly into the waiting cuffs of a NY state trooper.
Josh Rojas already called up by DBacks
Was it that or just a case of the Yankees playing great baseball? I honestly don't remember, because I don't think I watched a single game of that series. But I know the Yankees were a tough out in the ALCS.
I’m waiting for more data. He pitched well in his last starts prior to the trade, and it was the Mariners after all. It’s seems likely that he is better than what we had, and that curve ball was real nice, but it seems a bit early to conclude much more than that.
In the hours after the El Paso shooting, Mitch McConnell's campaign posted a photo of gravestones at a rally, one of which is for Amy McGrath, his current campaign opponent. You've gotta be fucking kidding me.
But hey, it's the liberals and their violent rhetoric.
How is it that the trainer does not speak Spanish? If you work with major league baseball players on a daily basis especially where their health is involved you must speak Spanish. It is amazing that he hasn't been ordered to learn Spanish much less learned on his own initiative.
ALTUVE! Over Frito pies on Friday, a very wise woman told me that when Altuve is happy this whole team is happy.
What's with the lights in the stands?

What was the HP ump jawing at Altuve about when he crossed home plate. Ump seemed pissed.
So does anyone have any thoughts about why the Astros chose to pinch run Marisnick and not Straw in the final game? I thought that Straw would have been the natural choice but they chose otherwise.
So glad Rose Lavelle got her goal, didn't want the team to win on just a penalty kick.
I hope BudGirl is getting me a Cole Train bobble head
I think I would rather see them in RR. The injuries are awful.
I actually think France will win Hope I'm wrong.
Jake is not a starter, he is a late inning replacement. Because of the injuries, he's now asked to play more and that is exposing his lack of production. Makes others have to do more in this lineup. So basically, yeah, he's not producing as a starter because he's basically not a starter and never will be. So yes, others being injured means he gets to play and that means he's producing well below Mendoza. I would rather see Straw play more than Jake for that matter. Straw is the bench player, Marisnick the starter. Should be the other way around.
Berkman, not any form of Bregman, is the motor mouth. He thought the booth was his personal stage.
Don’t understand your jab, but if you knew what is going on with me, you’d be nicer.
Carry on.
Bergman is a motor mouth.
Pence just hit an inside the park HR.
Arlington leads Boston 9-3.
Yes, but what kind of cookie? Chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin? It makes a huge difference for most folks.
And, finally, if ever I am critical of either the TV or radio teams, all I have to do is listen to another teams' broadcast team for a few minutes. My goodness, there's some crap broadcast teams out there. Flip over to the Seattle feed for a couple of minutes tonight if you want an example.
Airbnb. I was in Toronto last September coincidentally when the Astros were there. My trip was an unqualified success, but not really baseball oriented although I did see a game.
The Blue Jays would be a far more interesting team to see, obviously.
Wait, we're still trying to trade Jake?

Sparks and Ford briefly speculated that it could be Valdez who gets the spot, especially if he were to pitch well tonight. Noted that there was no one in AAA ready.
Just my opinion, but no way I’d put Rodgers in rotation.

The biggest troll of them all, though, maybe Her Majesty herself. Buckingham Palace has over 77 state rooms and guest bedrooms, but the Trumps could not stay there - as did the Clintons, Bushes and Obamas before them - due to renovations.
Options may determine the initial decision, but roster construction fascinated me, and I am wondering what it ultimately may be. Marisnick’s new-found offensive progress complicates things for sure. Straw has too much value to be traded, I think, and I have liked Kemp all along. I really hope Alvarez hits when he comes up so DH will be solved. Then there is Tucker who is hitting again. The team needs a frontline pitcher, and someone has to go in that trade.
Two outs
Raise your hand if you thought Brantley was going to be the ironman for this team.

Brantley swung at balls three and four.
Bregman needs to end this thing
Two shiftfuck rollers, and a seeing eye grounder. They didn't exactly smack him around.
Better than fucking Devers.
It's interesting that they're avoiding the fact that Chavis got rung up for 80 games last year for PEDs.

Is it too much to hope for White to produce?
Fuck Jack Buck. He has no respect for ground rules. Cocksucker.
Anytime Stassi is up with runners on base, he should be bunting.
There was no delay at all. Everyone knew what happened and what the rule is.
Someone needs to explain the concept of ground rules to fucking Smoltz
I've seen more sox this week than a laundromat. I'll be glad when they're gone.
Today's game is on Fox, btw, so you get the dulcet screech of Joe Buck.
If they're sticking with 13 pitchers, and everything they've said indicates that, either he or Kemp has to go when Altuve comes back (was told the radio said they're thinking during the Cub series). I see no reason they would keep White over Kemp.
And regarding Springer's replacement, MM is correct: keeping Tucker down until June 1 gives the Astros this year and then 6 full years before he's a FA.
New Yankee or old Yankee? Seats are so expensive at New Yankee that it has priced out many of the characters, but the bleachers in the old days were a little edgy, and I liked it.
