Good debate I saw on Twitter today. Which is the better 3 man rotation, Clemens/Oswalt/ Pettitte or Verlander/Cole/Greinke?

Has apparently cleared waivers.

I'm really quite shocked he made it through waivers considering he's still pretty good and doesnt have a long term deal.

The man who developed my love of sports in general and baseball in particular. The man who always told me to give my all. My biggest fan and the confidence boost when I needed one. Has passed away.

He was always there when I needed him. Wether it was giving advice or saying one of his crazy often humorous sayings.  I'll give you one of my favorites. "If is a big word. If a frog had wings he wouldn't bump his ass as he jumped from rock to rock."

About 4 months ago we found out that he had a tumor on his brain. It was too late to operate and the doctors told us he had 6 months to live. Unfortunately it grew quicker than we anticipated. We made of the most of the time we had though. My mom brought him from Houston to fort worth one weekend to see me play in the local Sunday league. I consider it the biggest game I've ever pitched, I knew it'd be the last time he saw me play. I pitched an emotional 7 innings, giving up 1 and faning 6, the game finished after 7 with us on top 12-1. He proclaimed it the best pitching he's seen in years. That was how he was. He always lifted you up and made you feel like you could fly.

The last time I saw him was when I made the trek to Houston to take him to what would end up being his final Astros game. Mike fiers pitched a great game and the Astros won. We had a great time and I'll be forever grateful that I had the chance to be with him at his final time of watching the game he loved.

This Sunday I will take the field in honor of that great man, wearing a patch with his initials and he'll have the best seat in the house looking down watching his eldest grandson pitch. And I know he'll smile if I do well, and comfort me if I don't.

Rest in peace old man. I'll try my best to live as you lived. I'll do what I can to make you proud.

I love you, DAK.

Talk Zone / Favorite moment of 2015
« on: October 15, 2015, 10:38:41 pm »
We all agree, this has been a fun season of Astros baseball. What was your personal favorite moment/game/series/play of the 2015?

For me you have to look back all the way to April. It was a Sunday in Arlington with Dallas Keuchel on the mound against the Rangers. Keuchel was cruising through 6 scoreless innings, with a 4-0 lead. He got in some trouble in 7th and gave up 2 runs, couldn't find the strike zone if I recall correctly. Neshek, Thatcher, and Qualls combined surrendered 2 more in the 8th to tie the game at 4. Sipp had a scoreless 9th but got in big trouble in the 10th. With the bases loaded and 2 outs, Leonys Martin steps up for the Rangers. He blisters one to right field, it's deep, Springer is racing back, he leaps at the wall, he caught it! Game stays tied!
Fast forward to the 14th inning, Hank Conger steps up with a runner on and hits an oppo lazer shot to left field! 6-4 Astros! Bot 14 who comes on to save it? Sam Deduno(seriously) he closes it out Astros win!

The reason this game and Springer's play in particular stands out for me is that I was at that game. I had a great time watching the ranger fans get so excited when Martin connected and so depressed when Springer came down with it.

Another interesting note, that day on the way home from the game, I was jazzed up about Astros baseball, I stumbled across a forum on tapatalk called orangewhoopass.

Any Dallas fort worth area fans going to the games next week? Would love to go to a game with other actual Aatros fans. I normally would go with the wife but she is gonna be visiting the motherland(she's from Mexico) next week, anyone interested?

According to an Evan drellich tweet Domingo santanta is on his way to "meet the big league team". Wonder who gets sent down if this is true. Marisnick, Tucker? Pitcher?
