I literally love CFM.
I also hate it when people talk with food in they're mouth.
For a time, that team also included Orlando Cepeda, Jim Ray Hart, and the Alou brothers. Quite a lineup.
Machado is a very talented player and a dirty cocksucker.
That’s a full-bundle service. I think the problem is that the skinny bundles are different because they can’t pass on the charge for the extraneous shit the wrap around desirable channels.
This will be our little secret, okay? The Sox fans are not really sure if all the Texans are baseball or football fans but they are duly impressed. I was up at my Vermont place earlier this week and all anyone could talk about was the upcoming series with the Astros and they would grill me for Astros details if they heard I was a fan. Not a peep about the Patriots. I think New England is the inverse of Texas in that regard. They love the Pats because they are winners but their first love is baseball whereas Texas loves football of every type but like/love the Astros because they are winning.
I'll vouch for this Das. I do a lot of business on Boston. Flip on sports talk there and they're talking baseball no matter what time of year it is.
It's been a great year for music.
I love that Leon Bridges album and think it's his best yet.

Never understood the focus on voting for your favorite team.
Vote for who I thought was having the best year at each position. I want an all star team not a most popular team.
I was in junior high school for most of the goings-on of the Watergate scandal, back in the 1970s. In the summer of 1973, the Senate investigative committee hearings were broadcast live on KUHT/PBS – this was before widespread cable TV, CNN, etc. I remember the hearings being broadcast in black and white, although that could be my memory playing tricks on me.
My mother, who was still a stay-at-home housewife/mom at the time, was practically glued to the TV set that summer. She never watched much television otherwise, but she would not miss the hearings. I would pass through, in the midst of conducting my early teenage doings, and I would occasionally stop and watch with her for a while. I missed most of the high points – most of it seemed like dull, procedural stuff to my unsophisticated 14-year-old mind – but I vividly remember the day that Alexander Butterfield, a former White House staffer, disclosed in front of the committee that Richard Nixon had an extensive taping system in the Oval Office, unbeknownst to almost everyone else in the White House, and that practically all of his conversations with staffers were on tape.
I guess I'm about the same age as you. I remember the hearings. I was totally anti Nixon. I had a poster that said "Dick Nixon before Nixon dicks us" I remember being super pissed at my folks when they went ahead and voted for him again. I voted for Carter my first time because all the shit with Ford stunk so bad.
That revelation blew up the Watergate investigation. It was getting a lot of attention already, but after that day it was huge, and Nixon’s fate was essentially sealed the moment Butterfield revealed the taping system.
For a lot of people my age and older, Nixon has always been the prime example of moral corruption and abject criminality in the upper reaches of our federal government. He has been the default bogeyman for all these years now. No question about it.
I have no idea what all is finally going to come out about Trump and his administration eventually; but it occurs to me that Nixon was less than an amateur crook, compared to Trump. Nixon was a guy with some good intentions, and a good side and a bad side. And the bad side won out. Nixon had morals, though – he ended up betraying them, and being immoral, but not amoral. Trump, on the other hand, does not seem to have any redeeming qualities at all that I can see. He has been up to no good from the start. It seems to me that he woke up one day and realized he was President, and just kept on doing what he apparently always did. I don’t think he made some cynical decision to be corrupt. He just is corrupt, that is his basic nature.
And he makes Richard Nixon look quite good by comparison. That is something I never thought I would ever say.
Another thing I love about SiriusXM. I can get games pretty much anywhere, no matter how far out in the sticks I am.
Me too Jim. Can’t wait to see Reed and Fisher......and I’m stoked to see Armenteros. Tomorrow can’t get here soon enough!!!

I sincerely hope you are right.
If he runs and wins again I will not be surprised.
after Bud Selig is mysteriously fucked to death by rabid hyenas.
One thing I think I haven't seen discussed much is the failure of the Voter ID law to continue suppressing the minority vote. Alabama's has been in place since 2011 and so it's been through a number of election cycles already. With African-Americans making up 25% of the population but 30% of the electorate on Tuesday, it seems that the effectiveness of the law has an expiry date. Those who were originally disenfranchised by it appear to have obtained an approved ID and are using it against those who took away their vote in the first place.
If the same is true in Texas, Ted Cruz is in a lot of trouble.
I think his whole career was in Atlanta. May have been picked up in their expansion year. He was always in the shadows of Butkus but I think he every bit the player Butkus was but wasn't the self-promoter.
I didn't like Pederson. But then after his abomination home run trot, I really started to hate him. I hope that the next Astros pitcher to face him (no matter how long its takes) drills him right in the ribs.
Just finished frito pie.
I made the seven-pepper chili from Homesick Texan and ate it both nights. Tomorrow I believe I will make frito pie out of it. It’s excellent, by the way—especially when fed to confused non-Texans marveling at beanlessness.
To me, the problem is impatience and chasing bad pitches,
I half way expected to see Joe Niekro's 1980 gem.
My recollection of Gray is pitching pretty well against Houston, but your preview makes me think he was no better than ok. McCullers pitched three shutout innings against the RS, then allowed the first two to reach in his fourth inning, and they scored. This is a real gamble by Hinch which shows great faith in McCullers. I hope he steps up.
Just adds to the exit velocity.
I read it. It was good. Things change and people change; I'm OK with StrosRays just not feeling the same passion that he once felt for the team. You can't just make yourself feel it again; it either will happen or it won't.
Their bullpen. We need to get up early.
I like breaking ball pitcher/fastball pitcher/breaking ball pitcher/fastball pitcher, but I also overthink things a lot.

I love the rationale for the prediction at the end. That's some deep analysis right there.
Every baseball fan needs to read Ball Four. Additionally, there are plenty of references to Bouton's time with the Astros.
Start there.
You might not be caught up on all the fine print but technically Duke is still in play and blownranger has been eliminated.
If the Astros win 98, then you would win.
I think most of us agree...charcoal is best, but the convenience of gas has a quality all its own. Most of the time (two or three times a week) I go with the gas. I have had my eye on a pellet grill for a while now, as it seems to combine the flavor of charcoal with the convenience of gas, but have heard mixed results.
Waters are warm,
Bad calls happen. It's part of the game. But that was malicious, and with intent. He was ready to get the game over with, and it showed last night.
It's pretty understandable to be fed up when there have been multiple punchouts in the last week on just atrocious calls. The umpires have to be held accountable by someone, since the umpire union's only job is to defend fat pieces of shit like Joe West who should've retired 5 years ago.
I think this group respected the BBGs and did not cause the present woes. Clearly, however, the Baseball Gods are angry. There is no other possible explanation for the never-ending parade to the DL. I blame throwing in Aoki to clear the way for Fisher. There was no other reason for him to be in a Teoscar for Liriano trade. Problem is, I do not know what can be done to appease them. I am willing to listen and to try most anything.
I still don't get why Dodgers considered to be such big winners landing the prize Darvish. He really has not been good this year.
The same. That makes the arm lag behind, and the result is wild high and inside (to RH hitter). If he rushes and tries to catch up his arm to his body, the result is yanking the pitch low and away. He was wild on both sides of the plate. His visible frustration and demeanor on the mound do not help either.
I doubt he is hurt.
Jammed left thumb for Correa.
Why would he do something crazy?
Am I the only one thinking Luhnow wants to Keuchel back on the hill and see how effectively McHugh can pitch in major league games before making a deal?
Pretty big haul.
I don't see the Cardinals and Luhnow making any deals with each other any time soon, if ever.

Well, folks, what do you think? I certainly do not want to give up elite prospects for him, and I really liked Fisher.
The Mariners are going nowhere. Would King Felix be available? What is his contract status?
Peacock was great. Correa was not.
It was Game 3 of the '72 Series, and Austro is correct that Bench looked at strike three.
What is rarely mentioned is what transpired in the TV broadcast booth. Monte Moore was the A's pbp guy and was sitting in with Curt Gowdy and Tony Kubek. When Dick Williams went to the mound and gestured toward first base, Kubek said "Monte, don't the A's have a play where they act like they're going to walk the batter, then try to sneak a strike by him?" Moore and Gowdy chuckled, and Moore said "If they do, Tony, I'm unaware of it". After the A's pulled it off, there was prolonged silence in the booth until Gowdy said "Tony, you can now mount up and ride triumphantly into the sunset".
Man. And all this time I thought I was clever for having a touchpad on the front door rather than a key.
And just because I didn't see it in the list, I'm really digging American Band - Drive-By Truckers
Probably won't be any scheduling between schools as long as DeLoss Dodds is alive. Don't you know that removal of 4,100 unsafe temporary bleacher seats really set the UT program back.
Osweiler is just unimaginably bad. I just cannot figure out what they were seeing when they decided to give him a big contract.
There is a multitude of tacos better than Torchy's within a quarter mile radius of your seat at the park.
back to the subject instead of this name-calling pissing match, I do not care if we hire Orlando, but I do want a good DC. Under no circumstances should UT even consider bringing Major back.
Well, I don't know, in my world there is no real heartbreak, very little melancholy and no untimely death.
The opposing coach from the "other" tavern is such a Ranger.... not so much a Cardinal, Cub, or a Dodger. Clearly a Ranger (which is a step below the pimply ass of the Reds even...)
I wonder which team claimed Puig.
As of UH fan that would be ideal, but I doubt that is happening. Of course the SEC doesn't shy away from bringing in teams that could be good. Meanwhile there is a group of Big12 fans that dont want UH because they are worried that UH might get too good.
You'd think the idea would be to get the teams that would make for the most intriguing match-ups, seeing as that what ultimately drives TV ratings.
The SEC is so interesting because there are so many good to great teams and generally people like to watch football games b/w good teams. But by all means add UCONN, I'm sure the UCONN Iowa State game will totally kill it in the Hartford market.... meanwhile enjoy those 3000 mile trips for the baseball, women's volleyball, softball, women's soccer, etc...
Oh, and several UT board members still bear grudges against them.
Sumatra is an interesting place. It's mostly monkeys eating mangoes and masturbating. It's kind of how I pictured a TZ gathering at your house would be.

No. Why? Did I miss anything?
Colombia was playing their JV team. I wouldn't read too much into that loss.
Starr was Chancellor and President, I think. now "only" Chancellor.
So...because I'm not a particularly patient man...I went ahead and got the iPhone 6s. It's still big, but I suppose I'll have to get used to it. I went with the 64GB model, but am wondering if I should swap that for the 128GB...I know the lack of expansion is one of the drawbacks of the iPhone, and bigger is better, right?
If you like local beers, visit Arizona Wilderness and Goldwater Brewing.
Heard this morning that Gonzalez learned of his firing via... the team's travel itinerary.
That was bush league. Gonzalez wasn't the problem there, but the lack of big league talent, and that Gonzalez obviously wasn't the GM's choice.
So did the Rangers really wait until the last inning of the last game of the year they play against Toronto to retaliate for the bat flip in the playoffs last year? If so that is some next level chickenshit.
I saw yesterday that the odds on Leicester winning before the season were longer than Elvis still being alive.

Actually he said he wanted a political insider as VP. I'd guess either Sessions, Giuliani or Christie.
Then you missed seeing him rack up another two hundred yards or so.
The consensus seems to be that Miller was very poorly used in Miami.
Baseball Prospectus has released their PECOTA rankings. They predict the Astros win the west with a 88-74 record.
Idid...err..."dated" a girl from Ft. Collins once (or twice). It's a pretty cool place. Not a lot in terms of jobs there though, at least not at the time.
Not me. OB had made up his mind that he was never pulling Hoyer from a game again. Ever. They were going down the drain together.
Meanwhile, the scheduled friendly (football) match between Germany and Holland has been called off at the last minute due to threats of a bomb and the reported discovery of a truck bomb at the stadium.
In London, the friendly between England and France is underway as planned. England winning 1-0 at halftime, but the whole stadium belted out La Marseillaise like they were all card-carrying sons and daughters of the Revolution.
FYI, the French team includes Lassana Diarra, who lost his cousin in the attacks last Friday.
The emperor's had no clothes on for over a year now. O'Brien is so far in over his head he makes Ray Handley look like Vince Lombardi.
Watts-Jackson said his hip was hurt when he hit the ground-before his celebrating teammates piled on top of him. "It felt like I was under there for an hour. After watching, I guess I wasn't under there that long, there were just a lot of people on top of me. Definitely being under the pile of all those people, being about 190 lbs., it's not that fun of an experience." He added he would do it all over again if he had to. (from Dallas Morning News, 10/22/15).
I never thought I would see anyone as hot as Beltran in the playoffs as an Astro. Murphy was a "who's he?" guy for me, but not any longer.
You left out the part where the MSU returner broke his hip when everyone dogpiled on him.
I shop at Kroger on the weekends, and I always make it a point to check on Nolan's meat.
It is good meat, generally. But pricey. And not many around here want to pay full pop for it, apparently.
So as the expiration date nears, Kroger is forced to slash the prices, across the board. On Nolan's meat, I mean.
Once they start slashing, I start buying.
I don't know that Perrin could let Strong go without the blessing of the new President. Very unlikely.
Boosters didn't like the hire to begin with, also new AD will want to make a splash. I think he should get a 3rd year but I'm not so sure he will get it, unless things turn around and I don't see that happening.
People should just look at the whole year and then evaluate, IMO.
And what is he supposed to do about the special teams mistakes, at least mid season or game by game? He has a shitty kicker. How's he supposed to coach that up?
I'm having all sorts of weird things run through my head about this week's games, many of them at least mildly amusing, and I'm terrified of saying any of them, terrified that they may jinx the Stros. I can't remember many times I've exercised so much restraint.God Bless you for doing so.
That's a pretty big leap from shitty officiating to moral bankruptcy.
That game was the biggest no lube screwjob I have ever seen by an officiating crew. Charlie Strong not murdering that side judge is a testament to his character. I would've ripped that guy's head off long before then.
Fucking unbelievable.
Wow. Johnson three puts on 18 to lose the U.S Open. Historic dick stepping.
If Gurley is available when the Texans pick at 16, they'd better fucking take him. I think he'll be gone before then, however.I think he'll be long gone but if he isn't the Texans should snap him up. More likely they'll end up taking the next best WR after White and Cooper.
I know it's a silly question, but are you sure about this? Usually ESPN televised games aren't blacked out.
Had to try this last night at Julep on Washington... I concur to its awesomeness.
Best item on the menu is the Vieux Carre. Have a couple and you won't care if the food is any good.
This is idiotic.
Although one does wonder if these refs will ever call any of the fouls that UK is committing.
I don't mind that he was in there. Whatever gives you the best chance to score, and Watt's the best tight end they have. But there was no need for the dirty hit on Mettenberger. There is no need for the finger wagging. There is no need for the being a dick to the reporters post-game. There is no need for a lot of the douchebag things he does. Yet he does. He's hard to watch sometimes.
Our D's performance this year makes me believe we honestly could have competed for the conference if Ash had been healthy. Ifs and buts, candy and nuts.
I don't get this.
This is why golf, oddly enough, makes for great television. There's pretty much always something actually happening in play on your screen.
At least in the NBA, the ball is in play 100% of the game clock. That's only 40% of the actual tip to buzzer time, but at least the clock doesn't run when the ball is dead. Plus, there's actually scoring even when the clock is *not* running.]
I think one can play his best without being a prick or denigrating his opponents.

My parents used everything including the switch. The worst part was that I had to go cut my own from the camphor tree in the backyard.
I think Duke's point, and mine too, is why would the NFL try to protect the guy in the first place if in fact they saw the tape? How valuable can one woman-beating, star running back be? There has to be a compelling reason for them to protect him knowing there's even the slightest possibility of the tape getting out.
I hope that I am way wrong.
I think it's a regional thing. They have them in West Texas but only tested them a few months ago in the Austin area and then withdrew them. It was an excellent addition to the Whataburger line and I hope they bring them back around here.
it is never routine.

If you know how to control yourself, which apparently you don't, the right amount of syrup makes the pancake awesome and adds flavor to any bacon/sausage you are also eating.
Also, it's flooding in Recife where the US plays Germany today. Game still a go, though.
I probably should know this but am drawing a blank.

Springer hits one straight away. Love to see him go up the middle. It would serve him well to do much more of that.Announcer said 441 ft.
No idea, but I'd be shocked if he were not.
Yeah, "puta" literally means "whore" (and "puto" would be the male equivalent), but it's often used in the same way we'd say "bitch". Slang doesn't always translate directly. For example, in Spanish, they'd refer to a guy getting kicked in the "juevos", while we'd say "nuts". Neither literally means "testicles", but colloquially they mean the same thing in that context.
I went to school with a weird group of guys one of whom was from Juarez, one of whom was from Zaire, one was Spanish and one was Italian. They would speak in Spanish and call each other 'puto' all day long.
Isn't "hijo de puta" the equivalent of "son of a bitch?"
If I wanted to be offended I would be.
Man, that is a great article.
It's also amazing to me that Snyder and the others' primary argument is "No, it's not offensive."

I'm 1/8th Arapahoe and I never thought that Blackhawks or Braves or Chiefs were offensive. But Redskins always seemed akin to yellow peril.
He's whining and trying to get traded. I like Andre. I understand his frustration. I don't disagree with his sentiment. But he's made his point. He's under contract. He needs to shut up and get to training camp.
Pretty good basketball player, too.
I liked the one about never being struck out by Pedro (35 AB) or Maddux (94 AB).
This game looks absolutely miserable to play in.
Yeah, but not to ESPN which had a black screen for the dramatic final pitch.
Also, for those interested, Derek Fisher is on for viewing in the UVA/Maryland game.
No Donovan, though not entirely surprising, it seems a bit odd to not vale the experience he could have brought.
I'd have to be in a lot of pain for a long time to even begin to think about a replacement.
She had a saint for a husband. He took very good care of her.
a friend's mother did that in her 80s.
My mother had both knees replaced in the same operation when she was 65. She did them both because everyone she talked to that had the procedure done said they would never do it again.
They ended up closing and moving to Pflugerville. It took decades for me to get over that fucking sign. In fact, it still pisses me off but I don't want to punch them now.

it is the most interesting this I have ever done. this is my second time.
that advertising on craigslist that you are interested in ice skating means you want to buy crystal meth? I am foreman of a Travis County Grand Jury and learned that recently.
This is rarely a good thing.
I saw Lee Arthur Smith pitch for Castor. He pitched a long time in the big leagues. He was untouchable in high school.
The good news is that it shouldn't be blocked out / I think you should be able to see it.
The bad news is that Lucas Harrell is pitching, so even if you are able to watch you'd wish that you weren't able to after it is all said and done...
Also, according to the Round Rock Express schedule, Oklahoma City is opening there. I wish I had time to go this weekend, but would anyone consider a meet up in July when they play there again?
Also of note, Bo has a 9am meeting every morning he refers to as a "“synergistic chemistry lab"
The Texans, through McNair and O'Brien, have been saying a lot of shit. I assume it is just maneuvering to keep the first pick valuable. I have read McNair saying Clowney is all that, that he wants Manziel, and that they are willing to trade the pick. I thought I read that O'Brien wants Bortles. I assume this present Schaub nonsense is just more posturing.
I'm a museum goer, and if I had one day in Paris I'd spend 1/2 in the Louvre and 1/2 on the streets.

I am not anti-gun, but I wonder what you do with 30+ guns?
According to links posted in other forums (ok, the Shag) Canzano is Oregon's version of Lopez/JdJO, only worse. He's stirred up the same shit with every Blazers GMs since Patterson, as well as Mike Belotti, Chip Kelly, and other UO revenue sport coaches. Whatever he writes should be taken with a Jeff-Madden's-hemorrhoid-sized grain of salt.
I guess I'm slowly turning into a normal sports fan, someone who watches the games for amusement rather than using his teams as a foundational element of self-identification.
The Puerto Rican Whore signs with the Debbel. May they rot in hell together.
Can we go ahead and start this thread?
Like a dumbass, I'll be getting up at 05:00 to go to the game. At least we're having chili and tamales.
He really needs a change of scenery, something to get the stench of the staff and the whole damn franchise off of him. I mean, you run it 15 times for about 130 and are hell bent on passing it...with a big lead!! I literally would have fired Garrett immediately after the game. The players seem to really like Garrett, but he is not the guy. I hire a guy, ask him if he can win with the base personnel, and move forward. Problem is, Jerry will never allow that to occure, Garrett is the perfect puppet.
Well, I suspect it'll still be a while. But it's hard to point to another diplomatic policy that's been as much as an abject failure as the US policy towards Cuba. 50 years ago, no one could have imagined that we'd have normalized relations with places such as Vietnam long before Cuba.
Well, you're *allowed* to order and have wine shipped to you. Whether or not someone will be willing to do it is another matter.
I guess it's kind of the inverse of buying Cuban cigars abroad. It's perfectly fine for a retailer in Canada or the UK to sell you Cuban cigars. They're not violating any laws, in the US or within their own countries. But it's against US law for a US citizen to buy one, anywhere, from anyone.
Dick Justice published his votes:Here's my Hall of Fame ballot: Bagwell, Biggio, Glavine, Maddux, Morris, Mussina, Raines, Schilling, Thomas, Trammell.
He explained later that he identified "16+ players in the conversation" for his vote.
seriously, where did you come up with that "nobody expected much from" shit? 19 returning starters.
Any you guys hearing that John Harbaugh is interested in returning to college football?
Indeed it was. Always go with the wanton.
Wow what a season by my Auburn Tigers. Mr. Happy told me not to despair when his Tigers beat mine. Looks like his prophetic skills were right on. War Eagle! I am very concerned about the match up between FSU's offense and AU's defense. I am not sure we will be able to keep up scoring with them.
something like 9 of 11 were behemoth OL. spectators or not, they had no chance covering a kick.
I was sent home early from first grade at Anderson Elementary School because Kennedy was assassinated. I was too young to really understand the gravity, I just knew all the grown-ups were really upset. It was Friday and my older brother and I went home and remained glued to the television for the next few days. My mom wouldn't let us go outside, she was worried there would anarchy or something. A couple of my neighborhood friends came over and we watched TV all weekend. We watched live when Ruby killed Oswald in the Dallas police station, that blew my 6 year old mind, it seem so surreal.
EDIT: Actually I was seven years old in the second grade.
no, no, no! great, exciting game.
So can we hope that Incognito's (presumed) PED use has rendered him sterile? I'd prefer to see that particular genetic line come to an end.
And I thought Bum Phillips was as good of a color man on the radio that has existed.
He may or may not have been a horrible human being, but as an owner he was one lousy piece of crap.
And there it is...

Gary Kubiak announces Case Keenum will start Sunday against the Chiefs.
some idiot on OB criticized Gray by saying most of his runs are 3-4 yards. I have no idea if that is correct, but there is nothing wrong with a 4 yard run!
The game-ending drive was a thing of beauty. OU may have been deflated after turning it over on downs, but seeing Texas line up and methodically run it down their throats to kill the last few minutes gave me great joy.
Duke... I would have loved to have had any shade in the 4th quarter. At one point I went up to grab a water and saw that there were Texas fans stacked about 4-5 deep watching from the concourse, just to escape the sun.
if all it does is allow him to leave on a high note, that is good. OB was readable for the first time in a very long time.
Most fun I've ever hat at the Cotton Bowl, but it was hotter than hell.

No. It doesn't matter though, because Brown is gone after this season.

No, but I wanted to see how politely she could tell me it wasn't her birthday. Or maybe she just won't bother.
My 13 year old son greeted me this morning with - Auburn has a better record than Alabama right now. First time in two years we have been able to say that. I replied - only cause bama didn't play.
My mother banned Monopoly when we were kids. Then Checkers. Then Chess. Then Chutes and Ladders. Then board games in general. My brother and I (and to an extent dad) were waaaaaaaaay to competitive when it came to such activities, which is odd, as we rarely ever got into it playing sports. Maybe it was because he was 5 years older than me so I had no chance to beat him at anything until I was about 14...and by that time we were as much friends as brothers so nobody got too pissed about anything.
I've NEVER understood the appeal.
Excuse me, would you like this large collection of crap for your speedy leadoff man?
Nevermind my previous thoughts...I know, this is probably standard practice around there anyhow. See link below regarding the Braves need to add SP...possibly Norris.

While I am intrigued by the possibility of building a basketball (multi-purpose?) arena in Mueller, I can't imagine how that would work. Neither Airport nor 51st are particularly convenient to navigate when traffic is bad, and with the town center and retail area already planned would they even have the space? Maybe if the urban rail succeeds and car traffic is not the only means for getting there, it might make more sense.
Think his rationale was the he had to try to stick it close on the next shot, make bogey, and birdie 18 to have a chance.
Sergio Garcia...now THAT'S stepping on your dick!
what kind of case? I have only been on one jury in my life, but it was a Yogurt Shop case.
I guess the restaurant business isn't working out for him.
Godfrey was great when we saw him at Parish Underground. What did you think about John Tole and Puddles? I bet his voice was awesome in a proper theater.

Thursday Lineup:
7:15pm | Stateside at the Paramount | MARIA BAMFORD
Maria Bamford, Jared Logan, Derek Phelps
Started the night off right with Maria Bamford, who is hilarious. Derek Phelps was terrible. Jared Logan started off meh, but finished decently. Maria Bamford was amazing. She's so weird, but funny.
8:00pm | The Hideout | TRIPLE THREAT
Danny Palumbo, Brendon Walsh, Baron Vaughn, Michael Che
Caught the tail end of this show. Saw the last few minutes of Baron Vaughn and then all of Brendon Walsh, who is a funny dude.
10:15pm | The Parish | FOUR EYES
Dom Irrera, Andy Kindler, The Lucas Brothers, Marc Maron,
Bil Dwyer, Judah Friedlander
This show was GREAT! Dom Irrera was the host, and he was a riot. Andy Kindler was a little off his game, but still brought it. The Lucas Brothers were great. They have a slow, deliberate delivery that is really funny and a few REALLY great jokes. Marc Maron was great in his usual intense, slightly crazy way. Bil Dwyer was the only letdown in this group. He was pretty terrible. And Judah Friedlander was really funny. He singled me out to start with for my perfect clapping form, and told another dude in the front row to "get the fuck out of here" when he couldn't replicate my fantastic applause.
Overall, another great night of shows. The supporting acts weren't as great tonight, but the big namers still brought it. Dom Irrera stole the show as host tonight. He was really funny.
And Andy, I'm not currently planning to see Jim Norton, no.
If people are interested, I'll gladly keep updating this. I'm planning on catching as many small room shows as I can this week. Not too interested in the big names playing at Paramount.
Live WTF on Saturday. That would be fun.
On a more positive note: Star Spangled Banner before the Bruins game in Boston tonight.
Chills.
He is having the Braves hoping Bud institutes the DH in the NL today. When McCann & Freeman back off the DL and an outfield of Upton, Upton & Hayward - there is no where for Gattis to play. Will likely be the most feared PH in the game.
I like the Pulenta better than the Luca, though both are good. I found the Pulenta smoother. The Luca was a little oakier to me...more of a California taste, which I'm not really crazy about. Haven't tried the Suzanna Balbo.
Gorgeous day...sitting on the patio with a La Flor De Las Antillas toro and a bottle of Pulenta Estate malbec, 2009. Both are out fucking standing.
Why does anybody think this guy would be drafted if he declared this year? Bad decisions, bad shot, bad handle. He might eventually mature into a useful player, but I wouldn't risk a draft choice on that possibility.
Gee, I wonder if he is one of the Yankees.
There is an unwritten statutory exception to taunting rules for the horns down. I have never once seen it called.
Saw a stat saying TCU over Kansas is pretty much like a 16 beating a 1 in March Madness, from a statistical/ranking disparity viewpoint.
Truly stunning result.
Aren't they all?
Hogan is, or at least used to be, an Astros fan.
i think we fought that battle years ago, and Angelina Eberly kicked Houston's ass.
But I can say that I enjoyed going to the workouts as much as the games themselves.
I'm typically surrounded by 200 lb dumbbells.
Unfortunately yes. I considered asking my wife to hop off so I could offer her a ride, but decided against it at the last minute.
Cary Ann Hearst told me she liked my scooter once.

Favorite Albums (songs in parentheses)
8. Shovels & Rope – O’ Be Joyful (Birmingham, Lay Low)
I'm with you on Shovels and Rope - My favorie is "The Keeper" though.
Bulleit just started making an excellent rye, as did Knob Creek. The Bulleit at least is widely available. The bar rye of choice is apparently something called Rittenhouse, or so I've read.
Morris is the smarter football hire. Kingsbury rallies the general fanbase.
Now I'm just worried that Kliff's going back to Lubbock.
Gundy to Arkansas supposedly."I'm 40! I'm a man!" Gundy?
ETA: May just be twitter bullshit.
Apparently it is being rumored that Auburn has offered Kirby Smart (Alabama Def. Coor) 3.3 mil to be the next head coach at Auburn.
Never been to Burt's Burger Bowl, but the Bobcat Bite in Santa Fe has the best green chile cheeseburger on the planet.
Matthews and Joeckel are both juniors. Matthews is returning, and Joeckle has said he is returning (NFL top 5 money would be hard to walk away with from, so huge grain of salt). I think A&M loses Damontre Moore but keeps their tackles another year.
That's where the ouchies are.
that is Mack Brown, not Davis.
The King of Bullshit
Speaking of invisible networks, I believe that Time-Warner and the NFL Network have finally reached a deal.
Ash will be fine. he should have redshirted last year.
Back to college? Not like it's special if it's not the first time anymore. Buy him a greyhound ticket and a pre-paid visa for a tetanus shot once safely arrived back on campus after riding in said greyhound, and you've done your paternal duties.
wonder how high the flames will go in altuves
Destiny Hooker... best damn volleyball player I've ever seen. At least, the most dominant and if you're facing her kill on the other side, you're going to get a black eye when the ball bounces off your face.
till they meet in the world series
I came for an argument, you're just contradicting me.
If you knew Kirk Bohls when he was younger and didn't kill him, I'm afraid that makes us mortal enemies now.
Don't get me started...
Every day you get: See Pam LeBlanc doing yoga, See Pam LeBlanc doing pilates, See Pam LeBlanc climb a tree and/or Michael Barnes attends a swank party at a local gay icon's palatial estate, or Mike Leggett recounts yet another tale of squirrel hunting in East Texas. Every. Day.
Will have a day to kill in Budapest and about three in Prague. Any suggestions besides going on an absinthe binge?
Speaking of plays worth watching... Michael Bourn ain't half-bad as a CFer...
Even when he's complimenting somebody, the way in which he says it reeks of "somebody finally did something close to what I did all the time".
Probably wears a hat, skinny jeans, loafers, suit jackets with thin lapels
I know that area well. While in high school I worked at the Bonanza on Research and a lot of my coworkers (and girlfriends) went to Lanier.
I played baseball and football at Bartholomew, grew up near 51st and Manor Road. There's a lot of ghosts in that complex for me.
When we moved to Pflugerville, there were no Little League teams but the nearest big town, Taylor, wanted me so I played there and when that season ended I got picked up by teams in Round Rock. Finally the high school started a team but that was another Adventure in Suck.
i loved the expressions on the good guys young guns root root rooters and sad to say its not a tradition that can continue. i mean i can stand the strangers, but that is so differeny
two 9 p,m. games in a row. next year there will be a whole lot of that going on. when a game is ongoing i dont go to sleep till the final out
Don't know your price range, but here you go:

I'm guessing they want him on board for the announcement of blowing up Kyle Field to build Clear Channel Communications Stadium...
That's actually a pretty common pastime of pitchers. It's a shame. The last No. 42 is a class act and perhaps the finest relief pitcher of all time.
The Piranha is clearly the most improved player on the club. He had to make the adjustment or risk not succeeding. It's like I said several times last season: if I was pitching to Altuve last year, he'd never see a strike. This year, he's honed his pitch selection and learned how to take pitches and even walk some. That's a remarkable turnaround for a young player who probably never had to make such a huge adjustment in his game before since he'd had nothing but success as a free first pitch swinger. However, they keep up with things very closely in the big leagues, and there is a very well known "book" on a hitter that prevents that strategy from being successful in the long haul.
If you don't like that idea, just pretend he's a WR. 6'4, 244, great hands, good routes, High 4.4s to low 4.5s.
I had a college friend who got up to .34. The ambulance picked him up and saved his life.
Nancy keeps her skin smooth and supple by stretching over layer upon layer of subcutaneous fat.
And he's now evidently a fired scumbag... (LINK)
The few people I knew who played football at Rice excelled academically also. I figured they would have qualified on their own merit. Kind of surprised to hear that about Pierce.
I went to school with your brother then. Small world.
Amazing how someone can attend a fine public institution of higher learning for years despite being illiterate.
Sad is the aggressive march of bastard cabbage and its crowding out of native wildflowers http://texasinvasives.org/observations/search.php?sn=RARU&search=go
watching the birds and squirrels in their battle over the feeder (protected by my attack cat) and seeing all the green peeping out..might head down mopac to see some bluebonnets
That I'm in the office and not playing golf or fishing or smoking weed down by the river is bonafide proof that I'm a goddamned idiot.
I'm giving everyone here the rest of the day off.
I can't imagine him getting drafted in either round. He really needs another year to demonstrate that he can cut down the turnovers and make an occasional shot. Without that, he's just another guy.
no. he let a defender distract him. Kabongo rebounded the miss, and Chapman made 2 FTs so the missed dunk did not hurt anything but McClellan's pride.
ETA: the game was a microcosm of the season: get WAY down, make a heroic comeback, get in position to win, play fucking stupid down the stretch. JCB's fumble, then two rushed, early, unnecessary 3s turned a tie into a 6 point deficit in three possessions.
The ESPN play-by-play isn't very flattering for J'Covan Brown. Lots of "J'Covan Brown Turnover", "J'Covan Brown missed Jumper", "J'Covan Brown missed Layup", and "J'Covan Brown missed Three-Point Jumper" entries. Looks like Chapman must have played hard, though.
Ugh! I'd rather move to the AL than have orange uniforms and especially white shoes.
wonder how much input ryan has
Homeslice and Saccone's are my favorites... Frank & Angie's is pretty good, too. Also like Rounders and Salvation.
No. Should I put that on my list?
Not to worry. I have a family condo down there that I use when I go. I'm from that part of the world and miss it terribly during the warm weather months. Glad to hear you had a great trip.
That was the smart end-of-game execution that's been lacking this year. Great job by all of them, particularly the defensive effort in the last couple of minutes.
I think I'm headed in this direction.
Right. Reselling is not necessarily illegal in Illinois.
I agree. Lots of fresh approaches from the new staff that I'm liking.
I think you're thinking of Petrol Station. They fill growlers.
The beers that Limey and I consumed (in gallon quantities) were 512 Pecan Porter and 512 Cream Stout. Both good. I prefer the pecan.
gleach clued me in to the D&Q on Richmond. I was planning a shopping trip down there tonight, but I have a question: what's the treatment of growlers as far as open container laws are concerned?
Can I carry them in the car, or do they have to go in the trunk?
Thanks.
It would be a pretty small circle around 1st base. Cabrera is apparently moving back to 3rd as part of the shakeup. Add Peralta at short and that could be the worst defensive infield, ever.
I have yet to meet anyone...casusal fan, diehard fan, disinterested bystander...who is happy about the move to the AL.
Nope, but thanks for asking, Bench. I'm old and experienced enough with losing to know that it, like winning, is but a temporary condition. The 49ers played well, although the Saints sure helped them an awful lot with all those turnovers.
I don't understand all that O/U crap. I go by my woman's intuition.
Also, as an aside to the "Sweet Caroline" debacle, do people really still enjoy singing "touching me, touching you" now that we know it's a song about Caroline Kennedy...who was eleven years old at the time?
The Giants seem to be getting better and better each week, much to my disgust.
I think the Texans/Ravens are a close game.
Texans and Giants in the SuperBowl.
I thought this was going to be about manscaping. I read an article about that in a waiting room yesterday and started to get light headed thinking about having to shave my scrotum.
Today's word is Triskaidekaphobia.
palliative.
Twenty years ago basketball was for me a most beautiful game, maybe even the most beautiful. Now, college and pro, it is so fucking ugly that I cannot bear to watch a minute of it.
For the third straight year one of my alma maters is playing for the BSC championship. (Got my undergrad at Auburn and my masters at Bama). Hope I get to claim a connection to a 3rd straight BCS champ.
Great night for UT tonight in the Under Armour All-America Game: Connor Brewer left with a concussion, and Jonathan Gray just went down holding his knee and then hopped off the field. I guess the football gods have run out of targets on the Texans.
From personal experience (and imperial evidence in the Limey Time section), my creative juices flow a lot more when the team's losing than when it's winning. It's a lot harder to be interesting and entertaining when writing about yet another win.
Will be gone for a few days and wanted to tell you all Merry Christmas, Happy Hannukah, and Happy New Year.
Sherm in his press conference said he had pulled in the driveway of the recruit when he got the call that he was terminated. He said he was dissapointed in that because, "We are better than that." He also stated that he regrets his family learned of it before he could tell them. They learned through internet news.
from a post on OB
Cheap bourbon is worse than cheap scotch. My bourbon tastes run on the expensive side, even for everyday drinking.
Fucking aggies:
