So I guess Peacock isn't starting tmw.
Choi just will not chase.
And at bat consistency. Taking and swinging through so many hittable pitches.
Can anyone name one redeeming quality of Moscow Mitch??
Ken Rosenthal says the Astros are mounting a serious push for Marcus Stroman...
I don't have stats to back it up but I'd think control guys that rely on spotting their fastball, would do better there than more of a breaking ball pitcher.
Yeah, I’ve thought about him. He’s got as good a numbers as anyone else but I haven’t considered him as available. His WHIP is 1.33 but that is no doubt inflated by Coors.
Luhnow just said Peacock will not make his start tomorrow as planned. Valdez will make the start. He then stated the obvious, “we probably need to be looking at external options.”
I came back to my computer after a few hours, read this and though "That's really harsh on Bouton!"
I've wondered if Selig's grave will be accessible pissing on. There seems to be a great demand.
I fucking hate The Peen.
All the real hatred I have is reserved for the Owner In Absentia though. The classless, bullying greedhead who became the scuttling lickspittle of the Barons who call the shots in the game I love. Inheritor of prosperity, relentless questor for ways to heap even greater sums into the ledgers of those who jerk his strings, all the while blithely willing to suffer the hatred and scorn of millions of fans across the country. As much as I’d like to see The Peen sprawled on the turf, shattered testicles filling his pants with blood, it would make the scene complete to catch Allen Huber’s kneeling figure as it pulls erect in the glare of the lights, his fangs dripping from lapping his dinner, a raspy gasp escaping his lips as he turns, snaps his cape and assumes the form of a bat to fly back across Milwaukee to his nocturnal lair.
Except cameras can’t see vampires.
Fuck you, Bud. I will piss on your grave. This time it counts.
The acting SecDef is withdrawing from consideration of the position of actual SecDef - and stepping down entirely - because it turns out he’s something of a major douche. Still going to war with Iran, though, son everything is fine.
Your wife sounds like a good lady.

You're gonna miss him.
Now I’m blanking on who we used to call Captain Red Ass.
I have the autographed card of JA Happ.
Just had lunch with Ty and Chuck. Headed to the yard now.
Does the "The Lid" still exist? Wasn't there a Derek Bell baseball card as well?
recently took in the country music hall of fame. It was very well done. I spent about 2 hours there, could have easily spent 4.
So, apparently, there may be tickets for Opening Day after all.
Would you all still be interested? I do not have the pricing yet.
I think that the OSC had to release a statement taking issue with the Buzzfeed News report because it had to establish immediately that the leak did not come from them but from the SDNY. The OSC cannot give the office of the AG any reason to force the closure of the investigation, and the perception that the OSC is leaking privileged information would certainly be such a reason.
It was a baseball story that sounded too weird to be true. Supposedly happened 40 years ago, yet the evidence was scant. The tale included a 25-year-old man living in a tent for 10 days on top of one of the most famous sports venues in the world.
As a dedicated reader of Dress For Success you should certainly know that paisley silk never goes out of fashion. It is a cornerstone of any man's closet, like a good Chelsea boot, and will be employed either as a shirt or a cravat, or, among the more fashion-forward, both simultaneously.
My strategy was to scan the room for an upstanding, yet disparate group of individuals seemingly bound only by an intense rooting interest in Astros baseball and then look for context clues such as the presence of beer and/or queso. Admittedly, this approach is bound to produce many false positives.
I’ve got a lunch meeting today, so may be a little late to SF but looking forward to it and Second Lunch (beer) there.

How the hell can you be so sure? You haven't seen him in a full year, and fashion trends move swiftly in a place like Austin.
I mean, for all I know, madras capri pants are totally out for the gentleman this season.
Just to confirm, since I don’t know what any of you people look like, we’re all wearing Junction Jack costumes, right? Should be easy enough to find each other if that’s the case.
The only in-inning breaks that lead to commercial I can think of are pitching changes. I don't remember anyone being injured so badly on the field that the tv went to commercial. Do they take breaks for replays?
Commercials have been shortened which is the only good thing to come from all this
If you're not familiar, The Athletic has built a blog network with professional writers (Rosenthal, Gammons) doing national coverage, and local writers providing more in-depth coverage. The "catch" is that it's paid only. It's not unreasonable (the current promo rate is less than $4/month), and there are no ads or clutter. No 12 page slideshows.
They're launching the Houston site now, and they've already grabbed Jake Kaplan and Steve Campbell from the Chron. Site is up here.
I'm debating about whether the (cheap) cost ads any value compared to what I get for free from the Chron and McTaggart. But it's tempting.
You could subscribe to the Snuffy Smith cartoon syndication and add value to what you get from the Chron and Taggart.
No one, because they're winning it here.
Who does Hinch send out for the 10th?
McHugh's body language has changed
Does Yuli's haircut make him look like a Muppet to anyone else?
Astros just played one of the worst games in team history. Hope they pick themselves up off the floor tomorrow. Keuchel and Verlander need to pitch the absolute games of their careers. Wasted a valiant effort by Morton tonight. The stench from the offense was putrid and Giles went out on the hill to toss batting practice to the dodgers.
I’m blaming my wife and son on this one. Last night she insisted I buy game 5 tickets if the Astros win tonight and I could not get her and the kiddo to fucking shut up about it all damn day.
Sending Giles in results in a situation where you basically have to beat the best pitcher in baseball tomorrow. Very, very bad.
I've been meaning to mention that I've never been a huge Radio Birdman fan but I have always loved Died Pretty. Did you happen to catch their tour together earlier this year?
The plaque next to the raccoon enclosure must be larger than average given the region's various, seasonal options for that particular delicacy.

Joto. go-to. see how that doesn’t work?
I forgot to tell you, i have tried Matoi but i still think of it as Sam Oh Jung which was the previous name. very good sushi. i’m friends with one of the chefs at Jo-to so that’s my go-to.
If you were, erm, FAMILIAR with the geography you would know that the area indigent whose presence of mind allows him to cross a busy thoroughfare has his choice of two outstanding sushi options.
I'm having a beer that's been in the back of my fridge for an indeterminate amount of time.
That thing I told you about a while back or something else or all of it?
If you're from Texas and you don't like them you need your passport revoked.
I love all of it. The Bowie stuff is great, but his other work is great, too.

The charges are still sealed under orders from a federal judge. Plans were prepared Friday for anyone charged to be taken into custody as soon as Monday, the sources said. It is unclear what the charges are.
George was also supposed to have caused the on stage punch up between AC/DC and Deep Purple depending on who’s version you believe, they were a wild crew.
i’m afraid you’re going to have to ask the internet.
Charlie Morton is the first AL starter with a scoreless outing in a Game 7 since Jack Morris (10-inning shutout in 1991 World Series).
Looks like he is losing his off speed stuff a bit ---- falling behind in the counts
You'll know it when you see it.
Gotta listen to the crowd, I guess.
I don't know who to trust in the Astros bullpen right now.

FANTASTIC job by Keuchel!
Strike 1 looked juicy.
I'd say he's doing ok at 97 pitches...
As a former baritone in the Second Baptist choir, I'd like to give a hearty "screw you" to you, jackass.
Note to Joe Buck...that wasn't Sanchez's leg.
Keuchel can't find the zone again.
Been hearing the bolded point from pundits for awhile now. The naivete embedded in this belief that makes me wonder about the media.
To Trump's credit, it sound like he is at least listening to the people that actually understand the border.
My little brother just got accepted to this. It was his top choice so he's planning to go; ironically he's never set foot in the state of Texas.
Just curious if any of y'all have any connections to the program or know anything about it.
I have an HTML email forwarded to me from RB (not from BG), and it has links to claim the tickets or return them.
Bar code is there. Have to set up an account and open the link.
Can someone explain to me why this makes any sense?
While traveling through Texas in 1993, I went to a game in the Astrodome. The promo that night was a set of Astros trading cards sponsored by Mother's cookies. It had most of a set and then had 7 of the same card. You were supposed to trade to get the rest of the set. We didn't.
Anyway I have two sets that I found during our move last summer. If someone wants the extra set, I am sure we can work something out. Just PM me.
So, when the nth court in a row rules against Trump's Muslim ban, he tweets - in all caps - "see you in court."
Who better to instruct us on the plight of those fleeing tyranny, murder and torture?
Man, I'm sorry to hear that, RB. I hope 2017 works out better for you.
It's one of the downsides of getting older.
Everyone died in 2016.
I've been asking people this and oddly enough I have never received anything approximating a response.
But I would like someone to explain their hatred, if they truly harbor hatred.
So Eric and Amy refer to you as Ron Brand? Cool story. Hope you weren't inappropriately rough.
So far in the last month I’ve had two stage invasions, once in Bryan, Texas and again in Austin the following night:
In Bryan it was a random twerp who’d left a few bits behind from an open mic night and decided to stride across the stage in the middle of my set to pack up and ship out. I caught him on the stop in Semaphore Signals, grabbed him by his hippie t-shirt, asked him what the fuck he thought he was doing. Whatever it was he won’t be doing it again. I slapped his face - not hard but enough to make the point. I told him he was being disrepectful, pulled his glasses off his face and stuffed them down the front of his shirt. I poked him in the stomach and told him to fuck off. I thought I’d gone too far but it seems he’s universally loathed at the Revolution Cafe and I wasn’t the only one who thought he was being rude and intrusive. People have to learn.
At the Hole In The Wall in Austin a guy took it upon himself to jump on the stage and sing Whole Wide World. He wasn’t doing a bad job but Amy was about to come on and sing it with me so I got out of the way and Ron Brand (my right-hand man in Texas) escorted him off.
Joining Eric for a few songs every night – This is Eric’s tour and he asked me to come up and sing and play a few songs which is really sweet because since we’ve been together, a big part of our relationship has been playing music and even though it’s great to go out and do our own things again, performing together is special and romantic. The first night in Austin I’m waiting by the stage for my entrance in Whole Wide World and – wait, that very enthusiastic guy who’s been bopping and nodding his head intensely for the whole show is actually climbing onto the stage and striding straight up to the mic to sing the song as if he’s the special guest. Eric kindly deflects him and then our friend Ron Brand helps him off pretty quickly. At least I have my guitar so people don’t think I’m just one more in the queue to sing Whole Wide World.
reverse the numbers. and who put the chink in the armor that was last years season
I wish I was there with everyone. Sounds like MMPUS is rocking.
Could i meet you in Austin between now and then?
Yes, please.
Do you have them or does he?
I would love them, no matter where they are currently geographically located.
So what's the plan for meet up, getting the tickets, etc?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I am interested in any unused tickets.
I don't remember the exact particulars, but didn't we have to sit around outside the TT for a while because they didn't open as early as they used to?
Hard to believe it's been 8 years since those started.
On a recent visit back to Austin, though, she was shocked at how trashy it was to go out. Bunch of drunk college kids running around.
Now I'm not saying that there's nothing to Austin but 6th Street; of course that's not true. But it's a small town dominated by a huge college, so that's a big part of what happens there.
And I will take the opportunity to thank Brandy for keeping me out of jail on the date a number of years ago. I've never been to jail but one's birthday seems an inauspicious occasion for one's inaugural visit.
Not shaming at all. Reminding people.
post the names of paid and unpaid.
On Monday, we begin selling Group Tickets for the 2016 season. As a renewal group, you have priority during the week of (November 2 – November 6). This is a great opportunity to secure the best seats at the lowest price possible. In the past, our early group buyers have saved up to 31% over traditional ticket buyers.
The first postseason series clinching win at Wrigley Field. Ever.
Point taken.
I'll take clueless at the plate (or to be fair, in a bad way) vs poor performance behind it.
Not typically... Probably a number of folks at the Texans game, but other than that no clue...
Be sure to offer to fetch a Frito pie for Neil.He said he's on Day 3.
You finally made bail?
That's Keuchelangelo to you, Mr. Brand.
West coast games are alright by me. Gamezone crew is solid, and it gives me something to watch before bed.
3 of us at Spanish Flowers now. I guess the other guys were set on a beer down the street.
You're right of course. Gerry Fraley of the DMN gets it wrong in this article when he says the 2003 Brewers were the last to do it.
As extra incentive...anyone who shows up at the Tall Texan prior to 1:00 will receive a free frosty goblet of Shiner, courtesy of OWA.
I'm quite looking forward to it. I've pretty much decided to skip my french class, so I will be at the Flower.
So, I'm thinking I may want to change my schedule and go to lunch on Monday. What is the time frame for you all to be there? Around 1:00? I won't really be able to get there sooner. You all would still be there, right?
What?!?!?!?!? Are you not going to the Tall Texan? Spanish Flowers? Flying Saucer? That new BBQ place?
I am out because of work. do not know about Mark, but a night game may screw him up too.
Have not see a response but I PM'd you, Ron.
I get more Texas Ranger action
One third of the way through his chances you mean (5 of 15).
3 years at 124 years at 9 vs 4 years at 10.
chuck, any idea why the Astros didn't close the deal if they were the high bidders
Several as in twenty. Did he follow Ronnie Lane to Austin, do you know?
On Sunday, Ken Davidoff of the New York Post reported the Astros have reached out to David Robertson's representatives to express interest. Robertson is said to be seeking a four-year contract at "Papelbon money."
...or that Obama needed to do anything on this issue.
I love the fact that a guy who once posted his address to facilitate a fistfight with another poster is now the hall monitor.
I've been to KC once, for a football game. It was nice. I wouldn't get carried away with it or anything, but it was nice.
I'm not against Freese, per se, just wondering what the hell a "Cardinals connection" has to do with anything.

RB, let us know when and how to pay.
I'm getting more and more of the mind that experience is the only thing worth spending serious money on.
Sweet Jesus, we're all going to die via foul ball.
You don't get much more of a hillbilly battery than Posey and Bumgarner.
Bum's gonna win though. But I was rooting for the Royals.
Gordon's due a hit.
If he's not geeked up for the 9th, someone check if his balls are still there.
Well said. Now where's the mute button on this thing?
I'm surprised you made it through most of your life...
I'm surprised you made it through most of your life with that kind of reaction so something so offhand and not even meant to be insulting.
"Teabagger" is insulting to me. At least "libtard" makes sense, I'm insulting your intelligence. "Teabagger" means what, that I like to dip my nuts in peoples' mouths? It creates a perverse mental picture, but how is that even relevant? And the constant use of it by mainstream libs is disturbing. I was shocked when I heard a guy on NPR say it.
"Conservatives" are simply lazy thinkers.
"Conservatives" are simply lazy thinkers. Consider the source and take it for what it's worth.
"liberal" is a term that should be worn with pride. It signifies that one can think for himself. As opposed to "wingnuts" and "tea baggers".
Actually, this keeping of the same uniform or even the same color scheme is a modern phenomenon. In the old days, teams changed uniforms nearly every year, including changing colors from red and blue to black and white to pink and purple plaid.
I know libs love to, but you shouldn't confuse the average tea-partier with the average birther.
There are a lot of mullets on that Giants team.
Dead Skeletons
Going to a hospital in the first place is what got her into this mess.
I hate the Cardinals and anyone currently or previously associated with them including but not by any means limited to Joe Buck.
What I'm really wonderin, however, is what is the status of the Derek Bell card?
I would like to see someone try to pitch like that today.
Just read the Manifesto. It's gotten much more gentile as the denizens age that the rough and tumble place that it once was.
AJ Hinch "close to becoming" the new manager?
But Arizona’s young foundation appeared to underachieve last season— the team finished 82-80, two games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the pallid National League West — and a poor start to 2009 doomed Melvin, who was popular among players but less so in a front office that questioned his commitment to the club’s build-from-within philosophies. General Manager Josh Byrnes explained Hinch’s arrival by repeatedly citing his “organizational advocacy,” a euphemism for which the team was roundly mocked; Hinch’s page on the Web site Baseball-Reference.com was quickly sponsored by a Diamondbacks fan who cackled, “A J Hinch ... brimming with organizational advocacy.”

What is the NL? Don't follow that stupid league where they let pitchers hit anymore....
But seriously I did not know that. Did their GM call the manager and override the decision? Did Morneau want to play and they are sitting him anyway?
It seems to me that all he is saying regarding the lawsuit against him by Crane is that he will take on the defense expenses himself rather than enforcing a clause that would require the network to pay for those expenses on his behalf.
Who would you like to see as manager?
Sounds like Washington likely relapsed. I wish him the best in battling that beast if that is indeed the case.
I bet Fowler would have caught that if he had looked at the wheel today.
Peacock's back in after 4 days' rest.
I've never been to a Waffle House, and that's the topic of the night for the radio broadcast.
So you have to go in front of the partners' committee for your annual comp review too?
Just wondering, sounds like fun.
Is the game on TV tonight?
I keep looking for Drellich's offensive tweets and every "objective" spanking and come away perplexed. It appears that some fans want their reporters to merely parrot and blindly support those they cover.
Luhnow's statement suggests an acknowledgement that the current state of Astros is not all on Porter. Which would be correct x1000.
RIP Bo Porter. He was a good man. He often knew the rules of baseball. The losses weren't his fault. He likely tried to get his boss fired.
He was dealt a crappy hand and told it was a full house. He'll find another job pretty quickly, I hope.
How does that boot fit?
Thanks for the PBP. Nice to see you again, sir.
