Sharknado doesn't count?
Would have liked to have seen Sipp this inning.... Oh well.
The 3 other full season clubs lead their respective leagues in K's as well.
The Indians are beginning to annoy me.
Tony Kemp does not appear to be eager to use his return ticket to Fresno.
It now appears he wasn't. If it was a matter of tipping pitchers, it should be an easy fix, right?

I've gained 10 lbs during the playoffs.
Amen. Brilliant fucking go to make sure there's no shot at Jose.
My left nut would do a better job than Fox, and it looks a lot less creepy than A-Rod.
THIS PREGAME SHOW IS A FUCKING ATROCITY AGAINST NATURE!
ARod is fucking horrible.
Here's Sparks on the radio postgame: https://sports790.iheart.com/featured/what-s-on-matt-s-mind/content/2017-10-09-steve-sparks-alds-clincher-clubhouse/
At least it wasn't Astroglide...
YES!!!
HOW DOES 0 FOR 5 FEEL, DUSTIN!!!!!!?
Bregman at least needs to get Marwin home.
Chris Young didn't get a hit! Amazing!
I get the reasoning, but I don't agree with it. Similar to my feelings on Fisher over Kemp. But not my decision to make.
Any thoughts on the reason? While it is easier to hit a homer to LF, if you don't hit it out you are less likely to get an extra base hit, and with the LF playing closer, less likely to get a hit to LF in general?
Does the shifting that the Astros do have an effect as well?
While I think JD is the superior color guy, he also had the advantage of working with Bill Brown. Blum was saddled with horrible Ashby and now solid Kalas. Vs JD getting to work years with Brown. JD/Brown's chemistry is part of what made JD so great.
At the end of the day, Im really happy with the TV broadcast, Blum/Todd/Julia are excellent.
Goddamn this s enjoyable. Fuck Arlington
It would be really nice if he weren't on the postseason roster.
The irony (yes the real kind of irony) of Sears' demise is that they became what they were through the mail order model. At one time you could get anything through sears...clothes, appliances...hell you could buy a house from Sears and they'd deliver it to your...well...maybe not your door. But no matter what it was, if you wanted it, you just ordered it from Sears. They let Amazon kick their ass via internet sales, putting their eggs into the brick and mortar basket.
Springer flies out to medium RCF, Kalas wets his pants
Don't know where I read it, but it was implied that his scheduled use tomorrow is out of the pen. It sounded like it wasn't just a 'limit his innings' type thing but a 'we're transitioning you to the pen' type thing. If so, it appears that Hinch is somewhat displeased with him and given up the idea that he would be a starter in the postseason.
Not so over the top. Dropped his arm down some.
I might need to start drinking
There needs to be a term for a shift-fucking. Stick shift?

He's a strikeout factory.
It's tough when a ball down the middle is hit 500 feet too
how does Marwin not even put the ball in play there?!
I still say we would be better off with Kemp in left. I think he would hit just as good if not better than Fisher, and he would play better defense out there than what I've seen from Fisher. I'm not giving up on Fisher, I just don't think he is ready just yet and I think Kemp is a better option. Obviously the FO doesn't agree though.

Holy fuck, what a screwjob that last at bat was. That umpire should be fined for those calls.
Speed kills.
What happened? All I got on gamecast was Altuve lines out to CF.
Fisher break for home early?
What was Pettis doing?
I thought there was a play and he gave up too soon. I'd have at least tried.
Yep. One I'm thinking of was also a SS...two time MVP
How many runs have scored with 2 out in this inning?
McCann can hit, but he runs like a catcher. Coming down the third base line to score, he looked like a damn Weeble Wobble.
Huh, Crane makes me think another owner vetoed a deal.
He also said he's never vetoed a deal.
Wow, I thought Marisnick was out on the 3-2 pitch.
Man. This is such a relief. After the horrors of today's trade deadline, I was concerned there wouldn't be anyone to pitch.
I don't think Fidel covers much ground anymore.
My bet is he stays.
Martes looked good out of the pen.
Setup man, good stats, LHP, unorthodox delivery
are there better ones on a seller team?
About to get in the car, someone else PBP he 9th.

I think it might fit across his gut.
Altuve drilled, just like Banister ordered...and that's it for Jeffress,
B3:
Reddick...hitting .500 leading off an inning...full count...doubles to LF
Altuve flailing wildly at pitches 9 feet out of the zone...quickly 0-2...flails wildly at a pitch 12-feet outside for a three pitch punchout
Correa grounds out 6-3, Reddick to 3B
Beltran flies out F7
Leadoff double wasted because Altuve sucks!!!
4-2 Angels
Your reaction is a tab bit knee jerk. I said that (with Keuchel on the DL) we have four question marks in the rotation right now, which is unusual for a team with a good record. Thus, I'm agreeing that Peacock is shaky so far tonight. Let's hope he reverts back to his first two start form.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hand-wringing about 4 starters is quite unusual for a first place team with the highest win % in the MLB.

Also took part in the MMP pre-draft workout today.
Ranked at #129 on the BA 500 list. Inconsistent bat with some power. The lefty swinger is an Arkansas commit.
Wong started his career at UH playing SS as a freshman, also played the OF. He then moved to catcher. Excellent athlete.
Not so fast, my friend.
Morton to the DL with a strained lat. Jankowski recalled. Fiers presumably back to the rotation.

And John Jaso, the dreadlocked one, wins it for the Pirates with a walk off single in the 10th. Poor Pill takes the loss in his debut.
I hadn't tuned in at that point. But when Preston Wilson said "Infielders aren't used to having their back to the infield." I was done.
Uh, almost any popup to shallow center both the SS and the 2nd baseman are running with their backs to the infield. What are you talking about, you goon?
Watching him take BP yesterday was pretty crazy, he was going train tracks in left center quite a bit. Took quite a few to the top of the fake ivy too.
Preston Wilson sucked as an Astro and he's even worse at whatever he calls whatever the fuck it is he thinks he's doing right now.

I would have taken the over.

The Toy Cannon was my favorite player as a kid.
Interesting that he's sick and not starting but available off of the bench. Am I crazy to think Hinch may be sending a message by benching him after not running out that play on the ground ball he hit last night?
Man, does Stanton ever stop talking?

MR, that's some quality play by play
Bottom 7
Marwin leads it off and leads the team in home runs, which should embarrass about 10 people in the lineup. Marwin drag bunts one right up the line, Miggy playing back and can't make a play, easy single to lead it off. I love it! That's some salty veteran shit.
Yuli squares to bunt and misses a fastball, strike 1, hits a fading liner to right that drops in for a single, runners on 1st and 2nd, no outs. Marwin had no chance to move to 2nd because he had to wait a second to make sure it was going to fall.
Bregman up, PLEASE be bunting. Because this is double play/Astros baseball city. Not squaring, takes a fat fastball for strike one. Will Harris tuning it up in the bully. Ball 1. Tigers have two guys up in the pen, a lefty and a righty. Breggers fouls one straight back, 1-2. Setting himself up perfectly for the rollover double play. 50 footer, bounces around the grass in front of the plate, 2-2. Fucking terrible check swing on a pitch a foot outside, Bregman out without an appeal. What a shit at bat. 1 out.
Springer up with runners on 1st and 2nd, 1 out. Strike one on the outside corner. Astros have EIGHT fucking hits in 6 1/3 innings and one run. That is putrid. Ball 1, outside. Fouled straight back, Springer got a meatball and couldn't put it in play (AGAIN), 1-2. Fullmer at 102 pitches. WAY outside, ball 2. Springer a mile behind an outside fastball, punch out. Fucking shitty. 2 outs. I hate listening to the nonsense excuses the TV guys make for bad at bats.
Reddick takes ball one low. Smacks on to right, but 20 feet foul. He just missed it, 1-1. Woos raining down, ball outside, 2-1. Fouls off ball 3, 2-2. Flares one to shallow left, Machado easily makes the catch. Fucking dogshit at bats from Bregman and Springer doom the Good Guys to another shit inning with runners on.
End 7, 1-0 Astros.
Please don't fritter away valuable bandwidth like this.

Escaped despite the dick stepping.
Was that even hit high enough to get into the lights?
Man Marisnik can cover some ground. What a catch that was.
My guess is there's a girl involved.
Missed it--why was Straily taken out?
He did make pitches. He got six fucking outs that inning. How many do you think he ought to have to make each inning?
And just like that, Morton is out and Devo in.
Morton should be kicking Carlos Correa in the nuts.
And now another tailor-made, inning-ending double play ball turns into an RBI-single due to the shift.
IIRC it was Gomez misplaying a can of corn at Fenway last spring. Also, I'm pretty sure he was talking to himself. Does that count as throwing your teammate under the bus?
Exactly. It's one thing to drill a guy in the butt to send a message. Throwing behind a guy up is dangerous. I understand Napoli's point, and frankly he had every right to make that a bigger deal than he did. He was remarkably restrained.
Expanded today into the Top 100 Draft Prospects list. Among previously-mentioned players in this thread, Pavin Smith is ranked at #8, Shane Baz at #12, Adam Haseley at #14, Seth Romero at #20 and Clarke Schmidt (w/his TJS scheduled for next Wed.) at #48.
Among others: A&M righty Corbin Martin slipped to #32, Horned Frog backstop Evan Skoug fell to #86 and Longhorn righty Morgan Cooper comes in at #92. Another couple of college righties, UCLA's Griffin Canning and LSU's Alex Lange, rank 17th and 19th respectively.
Lance Z says this morning it will be Kiffin.

Cleveland fans should be ashamed for booing the ump on a strike call they don't agree with.
what the fuck is separation timing?
Seriously...he's not hitting spots, and there could be lots of reasons for that.
I'm not saying you are wrong, cause I don't know, and while I agree that Keuchel operates on a margin, I'm not sold that it is just a command issue. My observation is that he used to throw his sinker early in counts and get a lot of ground outs or get ahead in the count. Now, he is not getting those ground outs as the sinker is getting squared more frequently. This has led to him trying to finesse the zone and rely on his change and breaking ball. This has also upped his pitch counts and led him to look more like a junk baller than a guy who works off his sinker. In sum, I wonder if it is just that his sinker is no longer effective and not that he has lost pinpoint command.
I think today is 4 hit game #20 for him. Still no 5 yet
Bottom of the Batting order....where rallies go to die.
Whitley is no stranger to the rain....
When Gurriel arrives and Bregman moves to LF, Gomez is going to find himself out of a job.
How do you swing all the way through the zone and follow through without breaking your wrists?
But not far enough to not be able to run it down and throw out the batter? Makes sense, I guess. All I got was "Smoak strikes out swinging, Martin scores, 2 outs". Some things just leave a lot to be inferred.
Rasmus has a cyst on his inner ear.
Fucking Marisnick.
Correct. It doesn't get you there faster.
It will be interesting to see how they fail to score a run.

@Aggie_Baseball 2B Ryne Birk (@RynoBirk) agreed to sign w/#Astros. 13th-round pick played at Seven Lakes HS in Katy.
HIt .296/.375/.467 over his 3-year Aggie career, .310/.378/.478 this past year as a junior.
Marwin leads off 7th with a double.
No, I don't think I will see it.
Please explain what you mean by "swine orgy" because I'm worried I won't be able to unsee whatever I may find in Google search results.

A.J. Hinch flipped the top two in his batting order for tonight's game. George Springer leads off, Jose Altuve bats second.

Someone did a promo pic for the sectional game today and used my son's pic - looks pretty cool!
Cool moment last night. Son came out of the pen to pitch in the regional finals. Pitched okay (1 2/3 ip, 4 hits, 1 R - unearned, no walks or k). Team won and is one win from state tourney.
The cool part was the game last night was at Pioneer Park. He has been watching Gstros games there since he was 4. Now he has pitched on the mound there.
He told me after the came, he was over throwing because he was so excited.

Feliz is becoming fun to watch. I just turned this thing on in the 13th. Do I want to watch the tape?
At least Valbuena can hit....oh wait. Why the fuck is he playing over Marwin.
Let me clarify...I don't need someone to do PBP, I need someone to buy me more win.
Did Gomez lose his helmet on a "swing" again? If so I'm glad I can't watch, this phone would be lodged in the tv.
RISP less than 2 outs. Springer has to make contact here.
Castro with a 1-out triple. I thought he was gonna need to stop and smoke a cigarette about halfway to 3BWay closer than it should have been.
Gomez's at bat there may be the worst I've ever seen at the professional level.Absolutely awful.
Is it just me...Devenski reminds me a lot of Brandon Backe...physically and his motion.Great call.
Picks mic back up for another dramatic dropping.Well yea...but we were all ignoring the elephant in the room.
I mean, seriously, all of us knew this, right? Right?
I want Kazmir backMe too, Jim.
Insane amount of check-swing grounders from the good guys to start the year. That was a focus this spring.
I'm guessing about half of Feldman's pitches have bouncedTwo bounced off Bernie's slide.
I think that is a bit of a stretch. I don't think they know for sure if they plan to break camp with 4 or 5 outfielders.
He had a small part in what I thought was a really great movie a couple years ago: Kingsman, The Secret Service
5. Carlos Lee for Matt Dominguez andRobColby Rasmussen
I am absolutely sick to my stomach.
Hinch leaving Harris and Sipp out there to slow roast was unbelievably painful.
Altuve has been virtually worthless.
What did you bitches say about Carter?
I'm in section 417 in the Pettite jersey!
Gather at the Reality Bites house and argue that Singles was a much better movie.
That was just damn unlucky.

I thought Carlos' shot hit the windows about fifty feet up. Did I mis-see that?
Also, my wife sounds hilarious when she says Conger Donger.
Well, Nunez liked that pitch.
Fucking shift. I thought Marisnick had a clean single there.
Brown said this team is the first AL team since the '74 Orioles to allow 2 runs or fewer in nine consecutive games. Wow.
If Gomez continues his upward trend and Springer comes back strong, oh my.
Mark--If you had to save one umpire in order to save your life, which one would you save?
90% of the coaches in "select", "premier", "travel" what have you, are idiots, and 90% of the players aren't good enough to make the high school team, let alone anything "advanced".
Just got here. Why is Marwin in LF?
Year round travel baseball ruins arms as well as neighborhood leagues. It is a sickness.
Wait...there are weather forums? Do y'all sit around do PBP for the big storm? Curse Al Roker and his use of the word "intriguing"? Speculate on trades?...they should trade those two satellites for one Doppler radar...
Yeah, for some reason I was thinking South Carolina, then I remembered Clemson.
Chris Burke?
I'm guessing the trivia answer is The Great Bill SpiersThat was my first guess, but he went to Clemson. So, not him.
Again, you have Springer in RF, Gomez in CF and mostly Rasmus and Tucker in LF. Marisnick is a spot starter and late-inning defensive guy/pinch runner. You can routinely work in 4 of the 5, but Marisnick is the odd man out.
Whoever fell asleep missed some excitement.
Marisnick should be in CF. I do not like Carlos Gomez. I don't like his attitude, I don't like the way he plays.
Hit the fucking cutoff man Colby!!!
looked like he tossed his bat in a pissy manner.
Maybe that player's number is revealed on the back of her shirt. Either way, I don't think it's an article of apparel you're likely to find in the gift shop of the stadium.
I like this lineupGreat lineup on and off the field tonight. That's right, no Ashby.
When does Rasmus get another day off to wash his hair?
They whiffed. They're still dumbasses.
Trade deadline done. Time for the stretch run boys, let's do this
Confirmed, nada
so, does neshek come back out?
Lowrie needs to get a hit, he hasn't done shit since April.
Hope this doesn't mean springer may be out longer than expectedThat's my concern too. I don't understand the need for an outfielder, especially having to part with Phillips. In Luhnow we trust I guess.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I disagree. I think he's been a solid RBI man.Me, too.
I'm not real impressed with Gattis in LF.As a LF he makes a great DH.
The double play he turned to close out Game 4 of the 2005 NLCS was a thing of true beauty. One of my favorite plays, ever.
43 to be exact. His heater is pretty straight. He needs to learn the cutter and the two seamer.Or learn how to paint corners with that flat four seam. Can't throw it by guys anymore down the heart of the plate.
How does a big league umpire miss a call like that? It wasn't close.I was just about to make a similar comment. Awful.
Options are limited on this club for the 3-hole. The only other guy I can come up with is Lowrie unless they put Grossman in the lineup and move Altuve and Springer down.
A good RBI hit by Springer, followed up by some dopey baserunning.
I wonder if Castro's knee is a problem at catcher, and if Castro may be the player who changes position.
Step 1: Get a football team.
Step 2: Sell alcohol (See: shitloads)
Step 3: Profit.
From friends and families and communities represented, I understand. Just don't understand why anyone would drive a half hour to see other peoples' kids play. And not even getting into what I see wrong with "showcasing" 5th graders. But whatever floats your boat.
I cannot for the life of me see why anyone would any to watch 12-year olds unless one of them was your own.
I hope Carter doesn't change his diet anytime soon.
I rather think he is settling in. Should be an interesting line up when Fowler returns.
Pretty generous strike call to end it.
Apparently is real name is "Mike" Grossman.
Oh please, please, please bring in Poreda!
It seems like you get better return with Japanese relievers than starters.
Why would Schaub being in Vegas during his week off seem odd to you?
Per the Lackey Rag:
I presume they hugged. Maybe shed some tears.
I've finally realized the best (only?) way to be an Astros fan is not watch the games.
it was ridiculous to leave him in this long.
Smalls jailed.
Julia Morales (via Twitter):
Julia Morales @JuliaMoralesCSN
Hoes just walked into Astros clubhouse.
lost 4-3 my iPhone just told me
My fault. I turned on the game about 10 seconds before he hit it. I'm sorry.
Carter with a rather shitty effort on that double by Sogard. Took him forever to get the ball and get it in.
Just popping my head in to take credit for the Matt Dominguez home run.
I see that the Astros are now behind 2-1, and I see that the run scored from 3rd on a double-play that ended the inning. Was the back end of the DP a rundown or something?
Wait..this thread *is* about strip clubs, right?
And now Luke Scott goes yard, and all of a sudden, it's a 3-2 game. Hanging slider. Shitfick
Indeed!
Biggest headcase: Harrell/Powers/Holt/Redding? Who's the 5th starter?
