I hope he doesn't get the win on Friday and gets traded Saturday.  Going down as almost the winningest pitcher in Astros history seems like a fitting way for this to play out.

Any chance Marlon Byrd owns land in Texas?  I kinda like that guy.

Yeah, I see that dogfighting is a felony offense in 48 states, including Georgia.  I apologize for being a dumbass.

I think Vick has gotten a raw deal, honestly.  I think the animal cruelty part of it is actually a misdemeanor (someone told me that; I don't care enough to verify).  What Vick was charged with was the federal conspiracy to commit a crime involving interstate borders (which I think is a bogus crime anyway).  I mean, yeah, he was acting like a mobster organizing an illegal activity that involved a lot of different parties.  Maybe I don't have enough respect for dogs, but I don't see that as too sick and twisted.  I'm involved in an illegal March Madness bracket every year.

Don't get me wrong- he was doing a very bad thing; but overall, I think he's just a really dumb kid with too much money.  As I remember I think there was also some pub about him contracting an STD in Mexico while operating under a really bad alias - I think there was a T-shirt about it - again, he's a dumb kid with too much money.

I think his punishment has been pretty severe.  He'll always be marked as a convicted felon now, with all of the civil rights limitations that go with it.  I want him to play football.  When guys like OJ are walking free, I don't see what the public outrage against this kid is all about.

So you're saying Nolan was the bigger loss?  I can buy that too.

Sucks...

Hey, been lurking since the OWA days.  This site is daily required reading for me.  Only posting now cause I'm really drunk....

Anyway, that's a good read.  I think the loss of Jackie Moore may have been the biggest Astros loss of the last decade.  And to a lesser extent, Mike Maddux.  I'd love to have both of these guys back.

The future looks pretty good for the Texas Rangers...
