Kenny Albert, Girardi, and AJ Dicknose.

T1:
Meadows...3-0...3-1...walks
Pham grounds into 5-4-3 double play
Choi strikes out looking
No score, Astros coming to bat
-
Nice slider for the GIDP. Needs to get the FB under control, strike 3 to Choi was outside but I'll take it.

Unorthodox, but 1,2,3 inning. Nice recovery from the walk

B1:
Springer flies out to deep LCF on the first pitch
Altuve pops out to shallow RF on a pitch in the dirt
Brantley flies out to deep LCF
No score after one

I'm Fubo'ing this (Fox and Dish aren't speaking to each other).
TV is one pitch behind the radio.
My options are to stick with it or watch the game in silence.
There's no way I'll disengage the Worrell button.
-
I can only listen and Ford had me out of my chair on Springer's fly ball.

Same here.

If you listen on MLB AtBat you can pause the Astros radio audio to synch with the TV broadcast.
-
V is overthrowing a bit. He seems AMPED.
-
And, his Deuce and slider look beautiful today.
-
I've got the radio guys going with the mlb.tv broadcast. I asked about the tv guys just in case it wasn't a groups of idiots. Who that group of non-idiots might be, I do not know.
I guess I'll stick with what I've got and be happy for once.
-
T2:
Diaz flies out F9
Lowe...0-2...1-2...2-2...flies out F8
d'Arnaud...0-2...1-2...fouling off pitches...chops to 3B, Bregman there with a nice scoop and throw to get him 5-3
No score

AJ Dickhead is one of the guys so you're making the right decision.
-
Nice play by Bregman

From 3-0 to a 3-2 pop out. Ugh.

You've already given them more time than they deserve.
-
I made it an inning and then I switched to Ford and Sparks because of AJ Dickshitter.
-
AJ Dickhead is one of the guys so you're making the right decision.
I think Girardi is worse. Far worse, actually.
-
Astros taking an alarming number of center cut fastballs.
-
Astros taking an alarming number of center cut fastballs.
And they are running straight as an arrow today.

B2:
Bregman...3-0...3-1...3-2...pops out F5
Alvarez grounds out 6-3
Gurriel with an infield single to SS...Astros first hit
Correa...0-2...bloops a singles to CF, Gurriel stops at 2B
Chirinos lines out to LF
Astros strand a pair...no score
-
Damn.
-
Damn.
Robbie squared that one up, just right at Pham.
-
I think Girardi is worse. Far worse, actually.
Very much so. AJ at least drops the occasional tidbit like why the umpire is more likely to miss the high inside strike.

Another nice play from 2.
-
T3:
Wendle...3-2...strikes out looking
Kiermaier chops to 3B, Bregman playing way in on the grass, fields it over his shoulder with his back to the plate, bounces the throw and Yuli with nice pick
Adames flies out F8
No score
-
Robbie squared that one up, just right at Pham.
He had the exact right approach. Good AB.
-

AJ is a dick (even as a broadcaster) and my hatred for him as a player perhaps factors unfairly in how I consider him now. But he does know about baseball, and he will occasionally make a decent point.
If he does, someone's going to have to share it with me.
-
Rays batters are already showing frustration at V and shaking their heads at the D.
-
He's safe.
-
Astros with runners on the corners, two out...
-
Bases drunk for Alvarez...
-
Dang.
0-1 was in the spot.
-
B3:
Reddick...0-2...1-2...strikes out swinging
Springer...full count...walks
Altuve pops out F6 on the first pitch in his eyes off the plate
Springer steals 2B
Brantley rolls one past the pitcher, Lowe deep in the shift, can't get it in time...infield single, Springer to 3B...Rays challenging, but it's not even close....yep, upheld
Bregman walks, Brantley to 2B
Alvarez...takes strike one...foul...0-2...1-2...takes strikes three
Astros leave the bases loaded...No score
-
5 LOBsters so far...hope this doesn't come back to haunt them.
-
Strikes 1 and 3 were perfectly placed.
Alvarez has to protect there.
-
Really wish Yordan was looking for that fastball away to start the AB.
-
Altuve has had two putrid at bats so far.
And everyone else is taking fast meatballs for some reason. Pretty infuriating so far.
-
Alvarez has to protect there.
He really struggles with two strikes, not unusual for a rookie.
-
He really struggles with two strikes, not unusual for a rookie.
He struggles with no strikes, which is the thing that annoys me.
-
Rays batters are already showing frustration at V and shaking their heads at the D.
Maybe they just need to blow their L on someone’s Ts.
-
T4:
Meadows pops out F5
Pham...0-2...flies out F9
Choi...3-0...3-1...3-2...walks
Diaz grounds into FC, Choi out 6-4
No score
-
Let's put some more pressure on this dude.
-
Nice jump, Edmonds.
-
Fuck...another 2-0 cookie..taken
-
For what it's worth, I believe I've heard twice that Glasnow has the highest called strike % in MLB. He's doing something that the hitters aren't seeing, dunno what that is.
-
Fuck...another 2-0 cookie..taken
That was inexcusable.
-
Horrible at bat by Correa. He is in no way ready to play.
-
B4:
Gurriel flies out to deep RCF at the wall
Correa...2-0...takes a cookie right down the center...takes another cookie right down the center...full up...swings and misses a curve ball that bounces in front of the plate...2-3 on the put out...terrible at bat
Chirinos...0-2...1-2...strikes out swinging
No score
-
That was inexcusable.
That pitch should have been ordering tacos at Torchy's.
-
Chirinos takes the FB. Swings at the breaking ball.
Out of order there, Robbie.
Yuli was the only batter that inning who lined like he had an a clue.
-
That pitch should have been ordering tacos at Torchy's.
Correa is still two weeks away from being ready to hit in a big league game.
-
Nice block by Chirinos.
-
T5:
Lowe singles softly to RCF...Rays first hit
d'Arnaud...0-2...pops out F6
Wendle strikes out swinging
Kiermaier...fouling off pitches...strikes out swinging
No score still
-
OK...time for another Love Street
-
Kiermaier hung tough.
Then got blown away.
Let's go bats!!
-
The leadoff hitter is on!
-
Fuck.
-
Springer takes three straight fastballs down the middle...deer in the headlights

What the fuck, George?

Serious question:
An AB like that, after a mound visit, did TB change their signs ABs deke Springer?
Because he looked shocked.
-
ALTUVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Jose did good that at bat.
-
Boom!
-
The dead guy with a barstool leg sticking out of his ass would’ve enjoyed that.

That at bat was absolutely embarrassing.

Is Glasnow crying?
Isn’t there some kind of rule against that?
-
Alvarez needs to be up there looking for something, not reacting.
-
Yordan is a black hole right now.
That's racist
-
That at bat was absolutely embarrassing.
At least he swung at one...GEORGE!
-
That at bat was absolutely embarrassing.
His next one will be better.

Alvarez needs to be up there looking for something, not reacting.
Maybe a fastball down the pipe?

Sure looked like it.
Maybe. He had to be sweating pretty good too. Could have just been that.
-
That's racist
Hey, I'm a scientist...
-
That at bat was absolutely embarrassing.
You'll have to be more specific.
-
That at bat was absolutely embarrassing.
It's been a weakness all seasons. He really struggles catching up to fastballs.
-
Pham is struggling in Lf. Stretching and flexing a ton after hitting the wall and not chasing the Bergman double off the wall. If Gurriel pulls anything over there, it’ll score 2.
-
Hey, I'm a scientist...
Batman's a scientist.
-
Maybe. He had to be sweating pretty good too. Could have just been that.
True. But he wiped at one eye, then his nose, then both eyes - not any other part of his face.

Hey, Dr. Evil would have you know that he went to four years of evil medical school.

Good fundamental baserunning by the Astros, btw.
-
B5:
Reddick...3-0...walks
Springer...takes a fastball down the middle for strike one...takes a fastball down the middle for strike two...takes a fastball down the middle for strike three
Altuve homers to LF, Reddick scores
And that chases Glasnow...McKay in
Brantley singles to RF on the first pitch
Bregman doubles off the LF wall, Brantley to 3B...Pham limping as he ran into the wall...what he was doing there I don't know, it was way over his head
Alvarez...infield in...quickly down 0-2...blown away on a fastball right down the middle
That's it for McKay, Roe in
Gurriel pops behind 1B...Lowe there...and drops it...Brantley scores, Bregman scores on the E4...Yuli not running, so has to stop at 1B
Gurriel steals 2B
Correa takes a hanging slider right down the center for strike three
But the Astros break loose a little...lead 4-0 after five
-
Stolen base... Yuli??

Damn. Talk about a hanging slider.

Love Street is working!!

Yes, take whatever they give you.

Up 4-0 after some of the worst ABs of the season. Hard to complain.
-
Yes, take whatever they give you.
What time is it?
-
Up 4-0 after some of the worst ABs of the season. Hard to complain.
It's good to get Glasnow out of the way.
-
Correa is not ready for prime time. Looks overmatched at the plate. Hope these AB’s are his quick rehab assignment.
-
That last Ray pitcher threw 2 sliders that just cement mixed at the top of the zone, and the Astros did nothing with either of them.
-
Verlander has got to throw up a zero here...
-
Such a funny story, Joe.

0410, but my stream is lagging probably 2 -3 minutes behind the game. That was really fuking annoying until we put up a 4 spot, now it doesn't seem quite so bad.

T6:
Adames strikes out swinging
Meadows...full count...walks
Pham grounds into 5-4-3 double play
4-0 Astros

Deja vu from that Correa AB.
-
Man, Correa is lost at the plate. He has no business being out there.
-
Correa is just not ready at the plate. Good thing the others have picked him up.
-
Correa is completely lost.
-
Way to kill the vibe, Carlos.
-
People that are not watching and just getting pbp here, please note that Hudson is not exaggerating on the 'takes meatball down the middle for strikes one two and three' business. It is truly as bad as you're imagining it might be.
