Kazmir to Cain and Perez to Hosmer.
Pettis should have sent Rasmus in the first. I would have, anyway.
Keuchel's game now is huge.

I'm sure it's selective memory on my part, but it seems like the Astros give up an inordinate number of 2-strike hits.
Keuchel's game is indeed huge. A win there, and McCullers is probably on top of the world and pitches well on Monday. If they're down a game and McCullers feels like he has to save the season, I'm worried.

Both of those two were to hitters who were ready to make outs. To me, that was the game.
I agree with your assessment of Monday and McCullers.

This doesn't make me feel good:

Lance McCullers on Game 4 "I don’t think going into the game saying, It’s just any other game, is the right approach"

I think the one by Cain was the turning point in the game. I was surprised Kazmir came out in the 6th, as he'd started his usual nibble fest the inning before.

Correa's near-miss (just foul into the RF corner) with the bases juiced followed by the GIDP ended up being huge as well...

Fuck it. These type of games are easy to analyze to death. It took everything going the Royals way after the Rasmussen home run for them to barely pull this game out.
Kuechel pitches Sunday.

I agree with this, but analyzing games is what we do. I agreed with Hinch in the 6th: let Kazmir try to get through the 6th and get him out at the first sign of trouble. Cain's hit was because Kazmir did NOT nibble on 0-2. The pitch was too hit table when burying a slider under his hands or a changeover low and away or a FB in his eyes was needed. Perez had Hosmer and threw one he could reach. That one was pure luck.

On the pitch Hosmer hit:
Only 20 other times this season, among the 702,315 pitches thrown, had a hitter swung at one that low and that far outside and made a hit of it, according to Baseball Savant (http://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-most-awful-beautiful-swing-helped-the-royals-even-their-series-with-the-astros-034333457.html).

On the pitch Hosmer hit:
It sounds like they're saying 702,315 pitches were thrown that far outside and low, but I'm 99% sure that's the total number of pitches thrown (in any location) this season (about 145 pitches per team per game x 162). I'm curious to know how many pitches were thrown in that location, and what the resulting ratio of 20 hits to that many pitches is.
Either way, yes - pure bad fuckin' luck.

I certainly didn't mean to suggest we not analyze. But that game made me sick. We can talk for days about how the Astors lost that game and spend less than one second talking about how the Royals "won" it. Yes. Their bullpen was good. I can't even watch a highlight of the Hosmer "hit". Makes me want to puke out weeks worth of frito pies.

I for one was SCREAMING "BOUNCE A PITCH, GODDAMNIT!" on both of those.

Just read what autocorrect did to my post. Ugh.
