"Former major league pitcher Charley Kerfeld, 43, replaced Don Welke as a special assistant to Phils GM Pat Gillick. Welke left to be senior operations director for the Rangers, where Kerfeld spent last season as a special assistant to GM Jon Daniels."
Never would have guessed this back in 86. Of course, special assistant can mean alot of different things I suppose. What was it he demanded in his contract back then? Jello or something?

Maybe it means he supplies the Buffalo Wings at the post meal spread.

Shit. Who the Astros gonna get to run the train at MMPUS now?

Kerfeld is only 43? I would have guessed another 10 years. He certianly did not look 22 when he was pitching. Maybe it was all that hard living...
