Title: Our Sad Division
Post by: Alkie on October 05, 2006, 04:19:56 pm
I don't know why this just occurred to me, but has anyone noticed the parity among divisions the last 5 years?

2005 - AL Central wins WS
2004 - AL East wins WS
2003 - NL East wins WS
2002 - AL West wins WS
2001 - NL West wins WS

5 divisions in 5 years.  But....who's missing here?

Since MLB went to a 6-division format in 1995, the only division NOT to win a WS..............ours.

Maybe I will root for the Cards.

I'd rather wait for the Astros to win the WS than root for anybody else in this division, expecially the Pooholes Red Feathers.

Yeah, it lasted half an inning.  I started Gamecasting the Cards game and thought "I can't do it, I'm sorry.  It's like rooting for the Braves."

Our sad league. I can't believe David Wells and Jeff Weaver are the second best starters on two playoff teams.

That being said, Boomer did provide me with one of the funniest baseball moments in the last few years when he was pitching with a runner on third, Chipper Jones up, and Wells managed to knock his hat over his eyes during his wind-up (one presumes because of the tight angle getting around his belly and over his head). He couldn't stop because that would have balked the runner on third home, so he threw blind and ended up popping Chipper right in the ribs. Just a fantastic moment.

Padres just brainlocked the rundown on a Pujols RBI single, failed to cover 2nd.  Poohles waltzes in to 2b, and presumably demands that the entire stadium worship his accomplishment.

Jakes 1-0 in the 4th.  Fuck 'em.
