The next number retired after "5" should be "7." No others should be retired until maybe Berkman down the line. The Astros have too many retired numbers already, in my opinion.

I agree. The Astros have WAY too many retired numbers right now. As of now, they should have exactly one....49. #5 and #7 should be next, but after that, no one comes close in my opinion.

I think "34"--Ryan--was a legitimate number to retire, too, but just those two before Bagwell and Biggio.

Exactly. Except, I really don't have a problem with #24. When I was a kid, he was the man. It bothered me seeing Jason Lane wearing it before it was retired. Of course, now I realize it wasn't the number.

Biggio and Bagwell are no brainers.

While I agree with the general idea here, when it comes to Nolan -- he did spend longer in Houston than anywhere else.

I'm on the exact same page as Hudson. I'd put Oswalt and Berkman on the watch list, but they're still years away from consideration.

Were Ryan wearing an Astros cap in the HOF, then I'd consider it. Let the Rangers retire his number.
