I know most people have heard about the NCAA ruling about "Native American Mascots". Well the university I work for was one of those affected. The new mascot is now Warhawks instead of Indians. Please check out The Link and let me know what you think of the new mascot. I am way to close to the issue to form a rational opinion. First they change the name(1999) and now the name. The university I graduated from no longer exists.

Might not be a bad thing.

i went to nsu and remeber the days of northeastern... I see your point. my daughter is now a demon. they find native american names questionable and leave demons alone..

Warhawks seems a bit redundant.
I'm still waiting for Louisanna Lafayette to change their name to the "Arcadians in an Intense Emotional State."

Or did the "Ragin' Cajuns" used to be the "Pissed-Off Coon-Asses"?????

Honestly, I like it. I know change can be difficult. I know I'd have trouble if my alma mater went through such drastic changes, but I like the new ULM mascot/colors. It's not too overthetop, and it's attractive. I was never fond of the old logo anyway.

The thing that will make me the madest is if the University of North Dakota end up getting to keep their mascot the "Fighting Sioux" nickname and Indian-head logo. The state filed suit over the ruling. The Link
I think ULM should have told the NCAA to stuff it, but the almighty dollar wins again!!! Gotta be able to compete in those cash games!!
