Title: hold your breath for a quick plunge into the Clemens pool
Post by: pravata on May 26, 2006, 03:34:09 pm
Clemens?s agent, Randy Hendricks, confirmed that Clemens (as of 5/26) is in ?Week 2 of an intense, three-week workout period. So far, so good.? "... I do think he is leaning towards playing if he makes it through all of his workouts.?

I made a quick dash into the thicket, scaled and deboned the story.

Makes it through? Like, if he doesn't die?

From what I've read about the workouts, based on some Marine ninja training, I think he has to lift a fiery pot with his bare arms to get out of the building, yes.

Not sure what you're talking about...but the best part is when he tells his sidekick to go get his valise and a case of cartridges from Cassidy.

Plus he'll need some serious icy hot to the boy's. You can't just fire that up overnight.

So this sounds like a done deal according to at least one source up here.

"Roger Clemens is making yet another comeback with the Houston Astros, Newsday has learned. An announcement is expected as soon as today."

if you believe high-up Express sources, this deal was done as early as December. the Drama Queen took the media and fans in Texas, Boston and NY on a wild ride just to stroke his considerable ego.

I find that a whole lot more believable than the "Clemens tested positive" conspiracy theory.

Any ideas why he waited until June 1st?

i did not hear about any test, but a close friend of his said that he was staying away because the whole deal was getting too close to him.

September 2005: 20 IP, 5.40 ERA.
Postseason 2005: 16 IP, 5.62 ERA.

I think that's a much simpler reason than a "gentlemen's agreement" from a commish who has never made a media-savvy move in his life.

Makes since, and I agree with you on ol bud.  Besides, if a test was done, I don't think they could hide that from the media.
