With a picture! The Link it's like the Franco-Spanish War 1635-1659, who cares who wins.

It sure looked like a clean play.  Makes you wonder what Pierzynski said after the play was over.

Pierzynki baited Barret with the plate slap.  He was asking for it.

is it bad when your own manager pretty much calls you a big pussy?

"I asked Michael what happened and Michael said he (Pierzynski) hit him without the ball, but that's baseball to me," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said during an in-game TV interview.

Barrett said he didn't see the plate slap.  Said when he got up he saw Prezhinskrikski heading towards him and he reacted.

Prezhejinsnkski said that he got up to go get his helmet when Barrett bearhugged him and said "I didn't have the ball BITCH!" and then slugged him.

Barrett may be in the wrong line of work.

That Barrett was on the USA team in the WBC is an embarrassment.

Both these guys are colossal pricks, but Pierzynski's postgame comments were fucking laughable. If it was all about helmet retrieval and not rubbing Barrett's nose in dogshit, why throw the shoulder?

Pierzynski got clocked and Barrett will get at least four days off.  It's all good.

Barrett is a dick, crying about not having the ball. This photo shows he was fucking blocking the plate!

For once at least, Dusty Baker was right on the money.

There is a complete series of pics on the player galleries linked from that photo page.

The Cubs are a trainwreck, they can't even get their own internal head straight:

"I saw a clean play by A.J. That's how you play the game," Cubs manager Dusty Baker said.

"I think it was pretty gutless," losing pitcher Rich Hill said. "Him hitting Michael when he didn't even have the ball. That's not how you play the game. ... It's pathetic."

1.  If you block the plate without the ball, you deserve to get hit.

2.  If Barrett gets anything less than 10 days, then Bob Watson is still waiting for his balls to drop.

3.  Waldo hit it on the head - having Barrett "representing" the USA was inexcusable.

Here's some good stuff from people with no axe to grind whatsoever.  My personal favourite.

Also, here's a nice animated gif of the cheap shot in question.

I know it's Jim Rome, so you can't take anything he says seriously, but I cannot believe I just heard him say this:

"Barrett is not normally a dirty player"

I don't know that he's a dirty player.  He called for the plunking of Oswalt (once approved by his manager), but that's simply chicken-shit rather than "dirty".  He is a World-class whiny bitch who could do with a good shoe-ing.
