man, he should throw harder than he does. good stuff, though, and he kept the ball down all night. FB 88-92 and a good breaking ball. he was totally in control of the game and has given up only one unearned run in his last 15 IP.

The 88 is his 2-seamer that has a lot of sink. He can throw harder, but I think his fastball loses movement at 94-95.

guess it is time to change my sig. Oh, well it is time for something new anyways.

that sounds like an excuse for not throwing hard to me. he is 6'8" and 250. he should be throwing it through a wall.

Don't know what to say. He's doing what the Astros have told him to do. What you saw was the result of all those mechanics changes he went through 2 years ago. IIRC, after he was drafted, at Tri-City in 2003, he was throwing in the mid-90's.

I saw him pitch last Wed. against Oklahoma. Kept looking at the speed and saying "it my only be 88 MPH but he is getting them out". Well pitched game on both sides. I think the Rangers called that kid from OK up yesteday.

not totally. they were on him this spring for not being mentally tough.
he has good mechanics now, but good mechanics do not mean that your top speed is 92.

I had been told he was down a bit because he couldn't figure out was wrong in April. Looks like someone got through.

If you know someone in Astros development, esp for pitchers like Dewey Robinson, he'd know. I'll ask a guy I know and see if he's willing to answer.
