There were reports yesterday of the Mets trading Aaron Heilman to the Rays for Lugo.
I wonder if the Mets would be interested in Chris Burke in exchange for Heilman. Heilman is a good young pitcher. It is mind-boggling to me that the Mets aren't using him in their rotation. I would rather have Heilman over either Rodriguez or Astacio.

Heilman has nice stuff from what I've seen, but I wonder if he might be Dotel-like, in that his success in the bullpen wouldn't necessarily translate to the rotation.

I agree.
Lugo has turned into a good player

I would do that deal in a heartbeat. Heilman is a hoss...

Why do the Mets want Lugo? Aren't they set at middle infield?

Maybe not,
"That's unbelievable," Anderson Hernandez, 23, said Thursday, shaking his head. "I never thought I could be the New York Mets' second baseman on Opening Day. I feel amazing."
Hernandez may not be in New York long, what with second baseman Kaz Matsui's impending return from the disabled list April 8. ...
Hernandez was traded to the New York Mets' organization before last season in a deal that sent Vance Wilson to the Tigers. The Mets moved Hernandez to second base, at first a frightening proposition for him....
"I had no idea how to play second base," he said. "The whole field was backward to me."...

The race for the second-base job, originally considered the most wide-open battle in camp, soon evolved into a competition of the survival of the fittest. Keppinger missed time with back spasms. Bret Boone abruptly retired. Kazuo Matsui began the spring 0 for 9 and later sprained a knee ligament

Not much I dont think. Mets dont seem to care.

Lugo played a little 2B when the Rays called up B.J. Upton in 2004- then they realized how terrible Upton was at catching the ball. And am I crazy, or did he fill in a bit at 2B after Biggio went down in 2000?

ESPN stats says 45 games in 2000. 55 total at 2nd for his career.

And Reyes has played 43 games (41 starts) at 2B - mostly two years ago, I think, when the Mets tried Matsui at SS.
