Title: First Game of Spring - Astros lose to Native Americans 7-3
Post by: No? in Austin on March 03, 2005, 04:38:24 pm
It was indeed the first game of spring and it was cold and drizzly in Winter Haven, but excuses aside, three Astros starters did not fare well today.  Pete Munro, Tim Redding and Carlos Hernandez all pitched two innings of ineffective baseball.  Munro allowed three runs, Redding allowed two and Hernandez allowed two.  Mike Gallo, Chad Harville and Zeke Astacio all pitched one inning of work as well.  Astacio's work was an extra inning of work agreed upon by the managers to get the kids some extra work.

The Astros got 8 hits while the Native Americans committed four miscues, but Houston could only muster three runs.  Eric Bruntlett and Brad Ausmus had the best performance on offense while everyone else had trouble getting going today.

Both teams meet again tomorrow at Kissimmee and Roger Clemens will take the hill for the Blood and Mud men.
