Title: Whither Marlins?
Post by: Golden Sombrero on January 21, 2006, 05:59:38 pm
Another wacky turn of events in the Marlins saga.  Could they now be flirting with the Carolinas?

Yeah... my heart bleeds for south Florida baseball fans.

Two world championships in 13 years of existence.

Boo-frickin-hoo.

"Marlins president David Samson has toured Portland, Ore. and San Antonio in recent weeks, exploring potential relocation sites."

San Antonio.  Hmm...  that would be interesting.  Wonder if that would cut into the Astros fan base?

More sad than the Florida thing specifically is the notion that Bud Selig & Co. apparently think its quite alright for David Sampson to go door-to-door around the country, like a Fuller Brush man, trying to peddle his franchise to whichever city is gullible enough to bite.

You know, I'm going to have to agree with this. It is a damn shame that somebody...anybody hasn't stepped in to fix the Marlins' situation. I know how shitty that stadium is to watch baseball so I don't necessarily agree that South Florida can't/won't support the game. MLB and the ownership of the Marlins has chosen to make Miami a scapegoat in this whole fucked up ordeal and they don't deserve it.
