Just a nice little read on Lidge.
web page
-
"It doesn't deserve a lot of analysis," Lidge says. "I hung a slider, and he's Albert Pujols. I knew it was a bad pitch. The second it left my hand I knew he was going to kill it. When he hit it, my heart sunk."
....
"I believe in momentum, but I believed in (ace) Roy Oswalt more. I think Pujols would give up that home run in exchange for being in the World Series."
-
Good article. He seems like a fiery competitor -- the anti-Mitch Williams.
-
Lidge is the man. He'll come back better than ever, no doubt about it.
-
And the there was one.
The Link
-
So one out of my 2 jerseys is safe for 2006, that's good...
-
if you have a Lidge jersey, it likely is not safe.
-
And see that comment, that comment right there makes me think Justice has even less insight into the Astros inner workings than Ortiz does.
I know for a fact that the Astros have been shopping Lidge this offseason. Excuse me a FACT.
Justice claiming that the Astros won't because Purpura knows it would be a mistake, or whatever means Justice hasn't talked to anyone in the Astros front office since the World Series.
His article is teh shit.

Friends tried to comfort him, but it didn't do much good. After posting a 0.55 earned-run average in 10 career playoff appearances before the 2005 NLCS, Lidge finished with a 4.26 career ERA for postseason duty.
Not to quibble with a USAToday article, but this is incorrect. His career postseason ERA is 2.52 now. With 38 K in 25 innings.

Did you obtain these facts with official MLB stats? If so, better bust out the checkbook....

I know; in fact, I thought about Jeff Bagwell's career stats yesterday for a minute, and I immediately mailed in a check (I hear they're setting up on-line payment options, so this will get so much more convenient).

Think of it kind of like the music download controversy. It's okay to think about stats, or look at them, just don't share. In spite of what we were taught growing up, apparently, it's not nice to share.

Although it's sloppy and mistaken says "career ERA", I think that statement meant to say that he had a 4.26 for the 2005 postseason.
