Title: How is this guy employed as a journalist?
Post by: DVauthrin on December 20, 2005, 08:24:27 am
I have a degree from Texas in Journalism and I am disgusted this guy is employed based on his "analysis."

The Link

  Houston Astros

Needs: Starting pitcher, catcher, left fielder

Off-season grade so far: C-. From a financial standpoint, you can certainly understand the decision not to offer arbitration to Roger Clemens, but the Astros don't have a prayer of returning to the post-season unless he's in the fold. And another two years of Ausmus? Ick.

Where do I start.   Resigning Ausmus means catcher is not a need area, despite his insightful "Ick" comment.  Secondly, I must have missed the memo that Roger Clemens by himself got the Astros to October baseball.  Especially considering the team lost more of his starts than they won last year(hard to fathom, but true).  Roy Oswalt, Andy Pettitte and the three headed bullpen monster of Qualls-Wheeler-Lidge will be thrilled to know they had nothing to do with it.

I really want Mr Perry to find me a team in the NL that is head and shoulders above the Astros right now talent wise, because I'm not seeing it.   This team as it currently stands could easily be a division winner or a playoff team, and that is factoring in no upgrades.

He's not a journalist. Period. He's an 'expert,' which in internet-speak is a hack employed to write flippant 'opinions' to get people to talk about, and link to, the story. Like you did.

I don't mind Ortiz, I kinda like Justice, and even I think Perry is an idiot.
