Thank you 2005 Houston Astros... this was fun!!!
No doubt, the better playing team won the world series, from the first pitch to the last. Tip of the cap to the World Champion Chicago White Sox... well deserved title!
Again, this was without a doubt the strangest, wildest, weirdest, most frustrating, most exciting, most gratifying and all out best season ever. All rolled into one.
Thanks!

Well put. Thanks OWA.
-
I agree completely, Noe. They sure gave us an exciting ride. I can't wait until Spring Training!
-
Noe, don't forget longest.
-
The 1975, 1987 and 2000 seasons were much longer than this one.
-
I mean for the Astros.
-
1987 and 2000, eww. How old were you in 75?
Agreed, though, Noe. I am spent. That was absolutely terrific, beginning-to-sucky-May-to-nailbiting-end. Can't wait to be there to see the new addition to the OF wall next opening day!

AH, got it. A little slow tonight, sorry.
-
Waited a very long time to be National League Champions.
That rocks, no matter how the series came out.
Need to set the sights higher for 06 and beyond
-
Agreed. The journey was great; the destination even greater. That they fell short in the end doesn't bother me. This has just been a fun club to watch, and I truly appreciate everything they've given us as fans.
And thanks to all of you here at OWA for making it even more enjoyable!
-
I really enjoyed this season and this team, so I would like to say -thank you- to the Houston Astros for the ride and -thank you- to the administrators, moderators, & contributors to OWA, this site has become as much a part of my everyday life as watching the games.
Side note...there are a lot of depressed people walking around my office today, and I just don't understand how someone could be so down after what this team has accomplished. During the game last night I had this calm come over me. I realized that last night's game might be the last one until April-06, so I just sat back and took it all in, ducks left on the pond and all. I didn't even try and find that spot on the couch where I sat when Ausmus hit his home run vs Atl, or go through the same routine in between innings that obviously won game 6 at Stl, no frito pie nor lucky shirt. Nope, I just watched the game and appreciated every out.

Agreed. Every bush league, junior high piece of bull shit a catcher can pull, I saw that choad pull in the playoffs.

Yeah. That sonofabitch can rot in hell.

Yes, this was lots of fun to watch. Hopefully by April my fingernails and hair will grow back. The good guys made it and I am very proud to be a Houston Astros fan. Can't wait until opening day. Congrats guys, you deserve a big pat on the back.

Nah, they're all bums. The lot of them!!

We may have lost the WS but man there are some great memories from the game. Clemens' sudden exit in game one, after all of the pre-series hoopla, and then Ausmus carrying a (probably shit-scared) Wandy Rodriguez through the next few innings. Man I admired Rodriguez through his Game 1 performance. I would have shit myself. And I don't think you can even compare catchers in those 4 games...Ausmus was such a pro (not too bad with the bat really either). Remember how red Pettite's throwing hand was from the cold in game 2? And what about that great run-down he pulled off at 2nd base? Roy seemed so confident and in control up to the 5th in game 3 and then suddenly....disaster (I still don't think that really happened...it think I was teleported into another dimension). How about Garner telling off Crede and C4 after Crede got beaned? Man I was proud of everyone on this site when they refused to lay the game 3 defeat at the feet of Astacio! And then Backe's heroic determination to win game 4 even if he had to do it by himself (and who knows, he might have). Man these are some good memories and they are memories of victory....you just have to have eyes to seen them.
Just for fun, lets try and come back from 20 games below .500 in 2006!
Go 'Stros!

Go 'Stros!
Why stop at 20 under?
Let's lose our first 62 games and then win the next 100 to beat the Co-ards by a game.

Uh, that's not funny.
