foulpoleuptheass to congratulate us on the Astro win.  Has he been ejected a la russa or is he still dropping f-bombs to umpires like the classy organization he so admires?

Who CARES?  I don't understand the fascination with the opposing team's fans.

Yeah.  Why would another team's fan ever go onto the site of an opposing team and post a bunch of friendly e-mails?  Makes no sense to me.

I don't feel the least bit bad about it.  The umpiring was a fucking joke.

I'm glad we won, I don't have to be excited about the umpiring.

Appreciate you keeping a close eye on me.

I've been reading them for days, all of 'em, and from time to time have thought about posting.  My point was we probably shouldn't be surprised when Cardinals fans show up here trying to be decent (or not), not that there's anything odd about fans wanting to post elsewhere.

Just think, Alkie, I just said there was nothing odd about your behavior.

Birdsonthebat is a good site.  Kind of like the Card version of us.  Those idiots from the Post-Dispatch and the Sports Lounge, however...

Look, I have ZERO problem with opposing fans in here (like Morpheus).  People who aren't just here to troll and be dicks, I usually find entertaining.  Might learn something.

I just felt like if *I* were on the other side of Cuzzi's Spotlight Game tonight, I'd have been NUCLEAR.  I don't think he cost the Cards the game, far from it.  I think he lowered the integrity of this particular game.   Will I take the win?  Fuck yeah.

But I don't have to look back and say blindly (because we won) everything was fine.

It wasn't.  I've always hated Cuzzi.

Very interesting Alkie.  Hard to determine if you were being just an upstanding good fan for the Astros or setting them up for the shot to the kneecaps.

I've found Birds on the Bat almost unreadable, mostly because of AstrosBuddy.  Why they put up with that guy I can't imagine.  Didn't there use to be an AB here?  A minor major annoyance?

I haven't minded the Post Dispatch site.  There are some stupid posters, but also some good posters, and there's a ton of traffic.  Sooner or later every notion floats through.  Plus some of them wail more than at the AB site.  Slightly.

I agree.  The strike zone varies from game to game, umpire to umpire and always has.  As an MLB player you have to adapt to it.  The strike zone was high and wide all day for both sides.  What you saw was LaRussa's frustration with the lack of offense by the best offense in the majors and Edmonds frustration at his rapidly rising scapegoat status for the fortunes of said offense.

the umpire gave LaGenius at least 3 chances to keep his seat. first, he made a zipping motion on his lips. then, he twice said "you're going to go." when he did not shut up, he went. i think he had it planned...the Tank Commander falls in battle to rally his troops.

I'm still here...doing what I came here to do.  Which is see what the Astros fans have to say about the games.

The Astros played another great game and the Birds played another less than great game.  The home plate ump sucked the entire game for both sides and decided that simply being a bad ump wasn't getting him enough Tv time.  (I say that only half joking)

Backe pitched a great game and was able to take advantage of the idiot behind the plate, as did Soup.  MMP's diminsions gave the Astros a home run and took one away from the Cards.  Marquis probable signed his ticket out of STL by running his mouth earlier this week and then when he gets into the game he fails to make two basic plays, fielding a bunt and laying down a bunt.  Pujols is the only guy in the Cards lineup thats showed up the last 3 games and even thought the play turned out bad, I like the agressiveness of him going on the play in the 9th.

do you whine about every park your heroes play in, troll? was LaGenius pissed when his pitchers benefitted from the wide strike zone? does your team ever just plain get beat? you had runners at first and third with NO outs, and you did not score. take your whiny ass excuses and fuck off.  go lick your wounds somewhere else.

Let me ask you something.  I mean this quite seriously.

Do you guys do this in every park, or just ours?  After every road series, do you measure the difference between Busch and the road stadium and say things like "well, if we had just been playing at home, that would have been" or "that wouldn't have been"?

Do you think the Cardinals were not aware of the dimensions in MMP and this is why they failed, again, to "take advantage of them"?

Perhaps you could call them and warn them.  I'd hate for this to continue going unnoticed until after the games in which the Astros hit a jobby into the Crawfords and the Cards don't.

"As did Soup" means that Suppan took advantage too.  I"m not whinning about your park.  Not blaming.  I said the Astros played a great game.  The Cards didn't get any breaks and the Astros played a great game.  in a 2-1 game one team didn't simply dominate so a break here or a break there EFFECT the game.  I"m not whinying, bitching or anything else.  Just stating what I thought of the game.  In the last 3 games the Astros outplayed the Cards.  Because I mention things that effect the game doesn't mean I'm diminishing how great the Astros played.

I'm not blaming the park or botching about the park.  Just stating that in another park the game plays out differently and the Astros did a great job today taking advantage of the situations and the Birds did not.

Huh???  Were not Co-ard fans here, but nobody accuses them of being little league.  The point you seem to be missing is that the field of play (MMPUS) is the same for both teams.  The dimensions don't change between the top and the bottom of the innings.  If the Crawford boxes are cheap and easy, then your team is entitled to take advantage of them also.

More to the point, he is here to tell us that our home ballpark does not conform to the 325/375/400/375/325 markings of, say a 1960s Concrete Cookie park, say in St Louis.

If he hadn't, Harold knows what us moron Astro fans would think.  We might get the impression EVERY team has a section of seats and a foul pole in fair play.  We might never know that 315 down the line is not USUALLY a homerun in other ballparks.  Good lord, we may think a fly out to dead center might be outs in other cities as well.  Imagine the horror.

Do it.  Imagine.

Here's the breaks, neither Sanders nor Mabry could get a ball into the outfield with a runner on 3rd and less than two outs.  Twist all you want about the architecture.  The Cardinals lost to the Astros because the Astros executed and the Cardinals did not.  Period.

I'm sorry I was pointing something that effected the game, I guess I shouldn't do that.  The Astros have taken advantage of the short porch in left and the Cards haven't I've already said that.  I"m not saying it's not fair, I'm not saying the CArds should have won.  I'm saying the diminsions of the park effected the game, just like they would have if the game was in Busch.  No more, no less.

You know, if they had played NLCS Game 4 at McLean Little League field #4, St. Louis would have won 131-127.  I wish MLB would realize that the short centerfield porch there is a really unfair advantage for the Cardinals.

Bullshit. Edmonds is one of the best hitters in his era. He showed that form by lining a double to left. He has made use of the Crawford Boxes in the recent past. Former MVP Walker had a good hard line drive for a hit. Nunez and Gruz just plain suck.

Quit whining.

Bullshit. Edmonds is one of the best hitters in his era. He showed that form by lining a double to left. He has made use of the Crawford Boxes in the recent past. Former MVP Walker had a good hard line drive for a hit. Nunez and Gruz just plain suck.

Quit whining.

Edmonds and Walker have a combined 3 hits in 4 games in the LCS.

Good pitching. Get used to it.

I wish I would have mentioned that the Astros pitchers had a role in that...oh wait I did.

Wait!  You mean 325 to left in Bush Stadium?  Does that mean that a 341 tape measure home run to left would have been out there, too?  How is that taking advantage of the parks dimension.  How about, the Astros scored two runs and the Cards scored one in the first nine innings of this game.  No breaks just baseball, dumbass.

MMP's diminsions gave the Astros a home run and took one away from the Cards.

You know, if they had played NLCS Game 4 at McLean Little League field #4, St. Louis would have won 131-127.  I wish MLB would realize that the short centerfield porch there is a really unfair advantage for the Cardinals.

The Astros use the Crawford boxes to bait opposing players into trying to pull the ball and hitting into game ending 4-6-3 double plays.

my favorite part of all of this whining is that the BFiB think their team does not have to actually play in the park they are in. they sit there smugly, think "that one was out in Busch," count the run and bitch about "the dimensions" of the park where the game is being played. what a great system to avoid accepting losses.
