Since the mud and blood have been good enough to supply the local nine fans with playoff biesbol for a very long time, it has become a tradition in the TZ to pick the X-factor player.
Or as we commonly refer to it, the Mark Lemke Award.
Anyway, last year, the winner could've been either Brandon Backe or Dan Wheeler (my pick would've been Backe). So it's time to submit your pre-playoff pick for this year's X-factor award.
My pick: Jason Lane.
-
Jose Vizcaino
-
Bruntlett
-
Mike Lamb.
-
Brad Ausmus
-
Bagwell.
-
Journeyman Pinch Hitter Jeff Bagwell
-
Another vote for Mike Lamb
-
Bidge
-
Palmeiro
-
Jason Lane.
-
Gotta go with superman: Bruntlett...
Of course, that will probably ruin his chances.
-
Taveras, who will best all records set by Beltran last year.
-
Luke Scott
Edit: Remember that game ending double last week (Gipson out at the plate)? Same thing, only this time it's his first major league home run.
-
Lamb or Lane....cause we need one of them to step up...
I'll go with Lamb.
-
Gotta be Luke Scott. After the horrible start to the season, he busts out in a big way for the Blood 'n Mud.
-
What the hell. I say Adam Everett. X-Factoring with both the bat and glove.
-
Mike Gallo. Just get that one guy out and then sit down. Just get an out.
-
Bruntlett. With the bat and glove. And dirt all over his uni. And some blood.
-
Bagwell. He's been holding back.
-
Mike Lamb
-
Jeff Bagwell
-
Bruntlett
-
Lamb.
-
No way is Lane or Lamb an X factor, these are the guys theyr'e going to count on. Everett's the guy. I see a crucial double down the line at some point. Not to mention a whirling play on Furcal up the middle.

If it's a whirling play on Furcal up the middle, then they'll be no play at all. Furcal's to fast.

Which is exactly why it'll be a great play.
-
gotcha!
-
Furcal scares me...he will be the Braves X factor
only to be trumped by
Willy T. and his amazing bunts, bloops and speed
and at least 4 great fielding plays for the series
-
Franco of all people scares me...especially today.

The only x-factors with Furcal are A) how long is the sentence and B) when will he begin serving the time? If no one shows up at MMPUS with a sign that will bring back terrible memories of getting Piazza'ed in the county lock-up last year, well.. color me disappointed.

His not going to jail this offseason may be the key to this series. He was incredible last year.

First time poster, loooooooooong time lurker. Actually, I posted periodically on the old site as "DomeFoam". I figured it was time to get back in the game, so to speak. Go Astros. Fuck the Braves!
-
Lane or Bags. Make it Bags for old times' sake.

According to the douchebag ESPN analysts, Franco was the x-factor today. His lack of stretch on Bradley's chopper to Giles seems to have been crucial in the 5 run 8th.
