Springer 9
Altuve 4
Bregman 5
Yordan DH
Yuli 3
Correa 6
Tucker 7
Maldonado 2
Straw 8
Miley
Former Stro farmhand Patrick Sandoval, traded in the first Machete deal, on the hill for the Angels.

Miley
...he's at it again. He's got to be tipping his pitches. I find it hard to believe they are just sitting on his cutter.

He's got the first inning blues something fierce recently. I can't explain it.

Second isn't shaping up to much better.
-
Miley is a wreck. He’s out after getting three outs. I feel bad for him, but they absolutely cannot let him pitch in the postseason.

Greinke didn't inspire a lot of confidence last night either.

Nonetheless, he has to one of the guys. I would not include Miley on the postseason roster.

Runs, and lots of them!

Yep, it is what it is at this point.
-
Yordan makes it 4-1. Yuli drilled, and a walk to Correa. Two on, nobody out...

The Yordan hears you.

Tucker saw the memo too.
-
Tucker with a 2-run double, off the wall, Tucker to 3B on a TE6...but....some idiots reached over and touched the ball, so they’ll send Tucker back to 2B and take a run off the board and send Correa back to 3B.
-
Throw the fan out.
-
Idiot keep your hands out of the field of play!
-
Machete with an RBI groundout
-
Idiot keep your hands out of the field of play!
Standing up, sticking your hands out is one thing. Natural tendency. Wrong, but natural.
Bending at the waist over the railing and reaching down is pure hysteria.
Idiots.
-
Idiot fan cost the Astros a run and a tie game.
4-3 Angels.
-
Stupid fan costs us the run and a tie game.
-
Idiots cost us a run.

There seems to be a consensus.

The Sanchez injury is looming large.
(phrase I never thought I'd use)

The Yordan shot was oppo taco just inside the fair pole and bounced off the tip top of the railroad track wall.
The Gurriel hpb was bush league garbage. Budgirl may need to rethink things.

I don't understand the gurriel thing at all. What was that about?

They absolutely cannot allow him on the field in the playoffs.

Can't the club eject a fan that interferes with a ball in play?
-
Holy moly what a play.
-
Can't the club eject a fan that interferes with a ball in play?
Yes.
-
That was a ridiculous double-play.

I've been upset with him being a whiney bitch for a while.
-
Bregman walks, Yordan fouls off several pitches (strike one should have been driven to Mars) then grounds softly to second.
2nd baseman dives snags it and flips it to the bag all in one motion to start the 4-6-3.
Tip of the cap.
-
That was a ridiculous double-play.
Fletcher has become a pretty good player.

One of the best I’ve ever seen

I'd think Yuli was a bit upset that it was about to hit him right in the fucking knee right before the postseason.

I think she was referring to Ausmus being a whiny bitch.

I'd think Yuli was a bit upset that it was about to hit him right in the fucking knee right before the postseason.
And for those that missed it, the first pitch to Yuli was way inside too.

I didn't see it. I was in church. He was being whiney long before today.
-
3 straight 2 out hits get a run in for the Angels.
First was a shift fuck single. Second was a nice inside out to right.
Third was a smash double in the LF cornet by pooholes.
-
Yuli gets an infield hit to leadoff the 4th.
-
I think she was referring to Ausmus being a whiny bitch.
I'm attempting to watch the Stros and UT simultaneously while drinking. At home, which puts the whole "pause, rewind, fwd" action into play. It's harder than it sounds, so disregard anything I say.
-
Correa singles up the middle, Yuli to 2nd.
-
Tucker chops one to 1st, runners to 2nd/3rd.
Machete grounds out to 3rd, Yuli doesn't try to score.
2 outs.
Up to Straw. He flies out to center.
All this was against Jewell (not the singer); Sandoval was on a pitch limit.
-
That would have been a tough throw home had Yuli gone home.
Maybe he didn't want to test the hammy twice in one inning.
-
Urquidy out.
Overall good job. In the second the got 3 consecutive pop ups. The first one landed after knicking the glove of Altuve allowing the 4th run to score.
Needed to finish the 4th better. He fell behind Simmons and Pujols and they both took advantage.
-
Abreu strikes out the side in the 5th.
Swinging, looking, swinging.
-

He needed to not have to come in the game trailing by three runs, two on, nobody out, and have to go three innings.
-
Verlander and Cole and pray for....???
Snowle
-
The Bard takes the mound for the Angels.
PBP for this inning will not be in iambic pentameter.
Springer lifts one to center “And so I shall catch the fly”
Altuve looks at strike 3, unhappy he turns to hpu "O hateful error"
Bregman flies out “And have is have, however men do catch.”
-
He needed to not have to come in the game trailing by three runs, two on, nobody out, and have to go three innings.
No doubt. He done good.
-
Name that Astro is Craig Biggio

So I’m assuming tomorrow will be no Springer, no Altuve, and no Correa.

Yordan may need a day off, somebody has to DH

Are you back in North America?
Finally.

My mom just said Pujols must be 90 years old already. I love her.
-
Yordan may need a day off, somebody has to DH
A day off from what?
-
Abreu walks Hermosillo, who then steals second.
Cowart Ks swinging
Fletcher Flies out to right
Simmons bloops one to center Straw's throw home is not close and Simmons gets to 2nd.
Score is 6-3
Pujols walks.
Calhoun out 3-1; nice stop by Yuli
-
A day off from what?
Whatever the rest of them regularly need a day off from.
-
A day off from what?
Trotting around the bases every ten at bats or so will really take it out of you.
Plus, with these expanded rosters there's more people than ever you have to high five.
-
Whatever the rest of them regularly need a day off from.
They need a day off from playing baseball. Unless Alvarez is worn out from picking splinters out of his ass, he needs to be in the lineup.
-
The Bard still pitching
Alvarez Ks swinging “And what a pitch … !”
Gurriel 6-3 “And when he caught it, he let it go again.”
Correa Ks swinging “O my offense is rank, it smells to heaven.”
-
Correa out of the game.
-

He might be suffering from the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.

Just a joke about Hinch's propensity to sit guys on schedule regardless of opponent or situation. I'm not complaining about it.
-
Devo in, pitches a clean inning.
-
Chandler Rome tweet: A.J. Hinch said last week Carlos Correa was going to play something similar to a spring training schedule during this homestand. This is the second game of his first back-to-back since coming off the IL. We will know for sure after the game.

And Stubbs stomps his dick to kill the rally.
-
Garcia (not Jerry) in to pitch
Tucker hits a sky high foul pop up that bounces off the catcher's glove, eventually legs out a double to left center
Stubbs walks, ball 4 is a wp, Tucker to 3rd
Toro hits for Straw, hits a SAC F9, Tucker scores
Springer Ks swinging
Pitching change: Buttrey
Altuve reaches on an infield hit, Stubbs cut down easily at third. Thought the ball got through the infield. It didn't.
6-4 Angels
-
Somebody grab pbp

And Stubbs stomps his dick to kill the rally.
With Bregman and Alvarez up.

Between the idiot fans and the dumbshit baserunning...

Astros with three quick groundouts in the 8th. 6-4 Angels

The shift has killed the Astros tonight

And I’m afraid Hinch is going to run his usual AAA lineup out to back up Verlander tomorrow. They’d better fucking win another game because the A’s ain’t losing another one.
-
Maybe they win the division tomorrow. Today's not looking good.
-
Astros should be able to get home quickly.
Oakland up 9-0 on Arlington.
-

I'd like to see the real line up tomorrow and have a division win to celebrate at home.
-
It’s amazing to think Rondon was once considered closer material.
-
I'd like to see the real line up tomorrow and have a division win to celebrate at home.
I would too, but that’d be bucking the trend.
-
Maybe bucking the trend is what's needed. After all the starters need to play again together before the playoffs too.
-
With JVs 20th win at stake, I bet AJ goes full strength.
Of course I know bubkus so there's that.
-
TE2, 4-pitch 2 out walk.
Shitty baseball continues.
-

Reddick and Brantley did no start tonight. Correa left the game early. I’d be shocked if Springer, Gurriel and Correa play tomorrow.
-
Last chance for the Astros, down 8-4
-
Astros whimper in the 9th, go down 8-4
Magic number remains at 1
-
For those who missed this game, congratulations.
-
I have to decide if I am setting and alarm for 2.00 am to watch, not knowing the line up isn't helping.
-
AJ said Correa's exit was planned.
Talked about Miley's frame of mind, acknowledged that he's only got 1 start before decisions have to be made.
-
For being a fucking giraffe, Tucker runs really well.
Agreed. Lidge was the baby giraffe, is Tucker a full grown one?
-

I think so. Tucker isn’t uncoordinated, he’s just tall and lanky. He’s built like Ted Williams and Joe DiMaggio, and both of them could run too. It’s just awkward to see nowadays.

For me, I just couldn't trust Miley. I know that’s harsh, but it’s not that he’s had a rough outing or two. He’s been shockingly horrible for his last six or so starts. Like, having no business in the big leagues horrible. I don’t know what happened, and I feel for the guy because until August he’d been having a good year. But it’s the postseason...hard decisions have to be made.

Gotta be Urquidy or Valdez.

Perhaps it's naive, but I have confidence in Urquidy. He just seems bulldog tough.

Much moreso than Valdez. He just can't throw strikes with regularity, but when he does, damn is he good.

I’m right there with you.
-
I think in a 5 game series Miley is on the roster along with Urquidy. Miley starts with a short leash. Sometimes when you have a “new season” (post-season) it can be a mental reset.

Would Hinch and the Nerd Cave think about an opener for Miley? Rondon? Devo?

Me too. Miley at least has some skins on the wall.
Might be choosing between high wire over crocodiles vs sharks though.
