Glad Correa is 7th and Yuli is behind Alvarez.

This is a don't fuck around lineup
-
A little unusual for Marisnick not to be in CF for JV?

Better get used to it because that's what the postseason lineup will be.

I doubt it matters.
-
I wonder if Verlander can hold the Rangers to -1 runs.
-
Lynn not throwing a lot of pitches.
-
Yaz's grandson just homered in his first game at Fenway.

First game of the year Jake hasn't been in CF for Verlander, iirc.

Is this really a thing? In late September?

I don't know. But I am pretty sure this is a first.
-
Call me greedy, but I was hoping for a 2 out hit there from George.

Jake didn't start the 15-1 game.
-
Astros' lineup: "There's your run Justin. We've done our job."
-

Yes...everyone ignore me, I got my players confused: Chirinos has caught every one of JV's games, no idea about Jake. Sorry.
-
Correa looks full strength in the field; also swinging the bat well but not making good contact.
-
Calhoun looks like he's lost weight since when he was playing in RR. Looks more athletic now.

He did.
He used to be mid-career Tony Gwynn in the physique department.

Bregxit!

Yordan CRUSHED that ball!
-
Back to Back jacks! 3-0 Astros

Yordan CRUSHED that ball!
Someday he's going to put one in somebody's Torchy's taco.
-
Verlander done after 87 pitches. Surprised.

Gameday showed a center cut waist high fastball. I said to myself "that one might go to Torchy's".

Bet you’re not surprised what happened after that lol 3-1 Astros

Rondon has been very good. Yes, I was.

It landed even with the bank row of tables to the right of the batter's eye.

Chirinos with a routine pop fly triple.

That was some heads up baserunning.
-
There's your 2 out Springer hit.
-
Springer gets Chirinos home!
Btw Jomboy has to break down that triple.

Better late than never.

Did not start running hard till second base.

I think we saw this in ‘17 and ‘18. Primary starters throttling back to 85-90 pitches for their last 2-3 starts heading into the post season.
-
At 454 feet, Alvarez’s homer would have cleared Tal’s Hill by 18 feet.
-
Seems like about every 10 games or so Yordan hits a ball that makes me say "huh, hadn't seen one hit there before"
-
Did not start running hard till second base.
Yep.
When they showed the iso replay I kept waiting for him to glance toward third and haul ass.
He seemed to only glance up after he was at 2nd.
So glance up baserunning is more apt.

He slid into second.

Astros win 4-1.
19th W for JV.
Magic number for division is 3.
KC/A's scoreless in the 3rd.
Yankees trounced the Angels.

Unless it hit the pole.

I like Blum’s oft-repeated comment when Alvarez hits one:
“This is not normal.”

It’s nice to hear that line in a good way.

I find myself watching his every at-bat and being disappointed when he doesn't do something outrageous. It's completely unreasonable, but at the same time, he actually does these things often enough that it's not *completely* unreasonable.
