DH Alvarez
1B Gurriel
3B Diaz

Not Tucker, eh?

Straw has played 2 games in the minor leagues at 2B.

I saw that. Not yet, not until after home field advantage has been determined for the playoffs.
Would stop and watch every AB, just like most watch each Jordan AB.
Nice thump!
-
2nd and 3rd and nobody out and got NOTHING from it.
Wow.

Pop out, IBB, GIDP. Time old formula.

Btw, it’s 1-0. First pitch Springer Dinger.

Gary Pettis just casually snagged a rebound ground ball off the 3rd base dugout screen, full extension above his head during Jake's AB.
Then went in to giving signs to the runner without so much as a blink.
He's a badass.

Chirinos just got trucked at home plate, but held on to the throw from Springer.
I'd bet he's probably coming out. He took what looks like a pretty good shot to the noggin.
-
Ball to the wall with runner on; throw sails over Correa, Altuve's throw home is wide and probably late.
2-1 Astros.
Runner on 2nd, 1 out in the 4th.
-
Is Grienke grunting after every pitch?
Or is someone just making weird inarticulate noises near the field mic?

Just going to ask that.

Correa had a chance. Rare mistake by Brantley.
-
After the ball-dodging McHugh (or whomever) bobblehead, I imagine the bat-dodging Greinke will be next.
-
Just going to ask that.
iirc, he's always done that
-
Grienke walked a batter, then narrowly missed getting an inning ending dp when the ball bounced off his glove as he dodged a broken bat. Recovered for the out at 1st, then got the last batter looking on a nice bender.

Yes.
Sparks/Ford noted that the sparse crowd has the field mic picking up lots of sound.
Sounds like a tennis player.

He's pitched through a LOT of bad luck so far. Lots of soft contact hits.
-
2 out double from Abreu ties the game at 2.
-
Hit batsman scores now to tie game. And our offense has gone on a ground ball parade. Need more runs please.
-
Strikeout ends the inning.
I second the call for more offense from the team in gray.
-
HBP hurt him.
-
2 out walk to Alvarez, single by Yuli.
1st/3rd with 2 outs in the 6th.
-
There sure have been a bunch of ridiculously close plays recently.
-
Damn, I hope it stands. Bad tag by the pitcher.
-
Oh man. This is gonna be a tough one to overturn with the replays they've shown so far.
-
WP, close play at home. Alvarez ruled safe.
Cease looks to the dugout for a replay, meanwhile Yuli goes to 3rd.
Under review . . .
-
From the original view behind the plate, I thought the foot got to the plate first, but from the other side it wasn't so clear.
-

Not sure what he was thinking. He had all day to set up for the tag.
-
Yordan's slide seemed to be in slow motion.
Nice job of keeping that foot down otherwise he'd have been out.
-
For some reason they make Gurriel go back to 2B

The dust screen was a nice touch by the rookie.
-

HPU must have granted time.

Exactly
-
Cease put the tag sort of on top of the plate instead of in front of it. He was worried about a contact.
-
Walk makes it 1st/2nd, 2 out for Chirinos.
-
Guess that Astro is obviously Carlos Lee

Did the clues include something about a ranch?
-
F7 ends the inning.
3-2 Astros.

Or a buffet?

Come on, Greinke, Clean inning.

Done.

Come on, Greinke, Clean inning.
More exciting on the 3rd out than it could have been, but you got your wish. Nice play by Uncle Mike.
-
Grienke got ahead 0-2 on the leadoff hitter, then the count went full. Got him swinging.
With 2 outs he fell behind 2-0, then evened the count before getting (well hit) F7.
Couple of big moments in that inning.
-

Thought the sun might get him
-
Leadoff walk and a stolen base puts Jake on 2nd with no outs.

50 years ago, Springer would be bunting here. Of course, 50 years ago Springer would be batting 3rd.
-
Springer trying to hit a ball to the moon his last at bat, almost succeeds, but it come down easily in shallow left.
Went to a knee TWICE in that AB.
Drives me insane.
-
They're trying to tell you something here, Carlos. Please pay attention.

Holy fuck. This is crazy.
-
Ok, now it's fun time. I wonder who they're bringing in.
-
Man, the HPU tonight is taking a beating. Right in the collarbone.
-
Rats, I was hoping for more there.
-

Blame the shift. That was a single to RF.
-
Nice inning by Harris.
-
Blame the shift. That was a single to RF.
The shift definitely seems to be contributing to the philosophy of lifting the ball. If you pull the ball on the ground, you are likely to be out. Might as well try to make sure that it goes over the infield.
-
Harris was sharp.
That ball by Yordan was smashed.
-
Harris was sharp.
That ball by Yordan was smashed.
Yep. If he pulled it a little more, he would have hit through the shift.
-
Yuli's swing is pretty much the complete opposite of dragging the bat through the zone. He releases the barrel completely.
-
Leadoff double for Yuli, advances to 3rd on a Diaz flyball to right center.
-
Chirinos lobs a single over the drawn in shortstop.
Yuli Scores.
5-2.
-
Rough night behind the plate for Castillo.

Castillo is a trainwreck

Loaded for Brantley.
Oh good. Another pitching change.

That last one was absolutely horrible.
Not sure at all how he missed that.

Woof. I'll pay good money to not ever hear Kalas do his McConaughey impression again.

Healthy Pressly is awesome.

Nice to have Pressly back.

That was the Pressly from earlier this year.

If he asks for bongos and starts unbuttoning his shirt I'm switching to the radio broadcast.

Since Sparks is already playing his bongos over there?
-
2 2-out walks for the Astros.
That's numbers 9 and 10 for the game.
Chirinos singles Yuli home, Diaz cut down on his way to 3rd.
6-2 heading to the bottom of the 9th.
-
Since Sparks is already playing his bongos over there?
Not gettin wet, is he? I'd save that for special occasions.
-
McHugh sharp (with some help from Jake).
Astros win 6-2.
See you back for game 2.

Did I see them rolling out the tarp after the game ended?

Solid work by pen.

Probably, looks like a storm coming, but not enough to force a rainout

Blummer mentioned that there were some sprinkles starting.
-
Bregman still sore from the HBP Sunday. Not playing second game.
-
Straw in CF, not 2B, for game 2. Altuve starting. Things are fine, MusicMan.

I'm not surprised. It looked like that thing hit him square on the scapula.

BS.
Here is the deal, snuffaluffagous, most of us watched Tucker in ST 2018 and were excited when he came up and was going to play LF full time. He did nothing, and eventually Martin had to go back there every day. ST 2019 was no better-no HRs. To me, at least, equating Tucker’s ABs to Yordan’s is worse than a stretch. I will be curious about his ABs, but as Blum says, Yordan’s ABs are “must watch television.”
Tucker has to prove to me he can hit in MLB. AJ Reed tore up AAA too.

Thanks, I had no clue. I should have put (sp?) in there.
I should know this. When Mark was little, he was glued to every second of the Sesame Street broadcasts.

Chandler Rome tweet last night: A.J. Hinch on Gerrit Cole's hamstring injury: "We’ll get him tested even further and see where this takes us, but he doesn’t think it’s that serious. I’m glad he told us and we hope that it’s mild.”
