4th
Seattle gets an infield single off the bag at 3rd foot the game's first hit. Nothing comes off it.
Bregman leads off with a single off the scoreboard for the Astros first hit.
-
Yordan golfs a changeup to the wall in right.
1st/3rd no outs.

2B/3B
Then does not advance on the single by Correa and is thrown out 7-5 on the would-be single by Gurriel. Tough inning on tbe bases for Yordan.

No TV here but a force out from left field? Whaaaaat?

Alvarez doubled, then did not advance on the infield chopper single by Correa. Had a terrible read on the flair to LCF then stumbled a little, turning Yuli's single into a 7-5 FC ground out.

Soft looping ball that fell in.
Yordan was apparently frozen because they forced him easily at 3rd after fielding the ball.

Infield chopper fielded by the 3rd baseman no less.

Infield chopper fielded by the 3rd baseman no less.
He had a great view of the play though.
-
He needs to lose that Florida chain. The panhandle might puncture him on a slide.
-
Quick recap:
M's opener walked Alvarez and Correa to start the 2nd.
Malone, changeup specialist, enters and proceeds to strike out the side.
The 4th inning saw the first hits for either team.
Astros scored on what amounted to a swinging bunt by Correa but 1 run was all they got from their 3 hits. They even managed to run themselves out of a base hit.

Astros essentially went single, double, single, single to start the inning and got one run.

Nothing in the 5th but a weak tapper and 2 Ks.
Still 1-0.
Who won the HR contest?

This is simply not realistic. You are bound and determined to get on Yordan, which amazes me.

Millone gives us trouble with his slow stuff.

That was the reality. What part of it do you think I made up?
Sorry, I have not seen good base running from Alvarez. If you think that means I have something against him, I can't help it. I don't.
-
Villone gives us trouble with his slow stuff.
Sparks was impressed with his K of Yuli after falling behind 3-0.
Also telling that Correa went from a blast that was pulled foul to that little grounder that traveled 12 feet on consecutive swings.
-
Bregman has hit two balls square. That's a good sign because Milone's soft stuff is hard to stay back on and not pop up.
-
1 out double for Bregman.
Off the end of the bat but well struck. Better of late.
-
Alvarez fouls one off his knee. Down on tbe ground.
-
Ouch.
That could be a problem.
-
Oh no.
-
Alvarez will stay in the game.
-
Correa translating for the trainer.
Good to see the squats there.
-
WP puts Bregman on 3B.
-
Sac fly for Alvarez. 2-0
-
Bregman to 3rd on a wp.
3-2 to Alvarez, 1 out.
Alvarez hits a one armed flyball to the trach in center to score Bregman.
Nicely done, young man.

2-0 going to the 7th.
Eventually Seattle will trot someone out there who throws fastballs. Millone has been effective.
-
Amazing, after seeing Alvarez going down and rolling over 2x in extreme pain, then see him stay in and slam to ball almost to the wall in CF.
Seattle announcer: "Here's the pitch, (pause) clubbed!!!!.... (pause) caught in CF for SF."
-
Seager homers on a 3-0 pitch to leadoff the 7th.
2-1.
-
Oops.
-
That's it for Verlander.
6 IP, 3 H, 1 R,10 K, 2 BB
-
18 scoreless innings snapped for the Astros pitching!
-
Smith relieves Verlander.
Gives up a 1out single up the middle then picks up a K.
Moore up with 2 outs.
-
Smith jumps on the pogo stick and picks the chopper out of the air, makes the throw to end the inning.
2-1 mid 7.

Nice!!!
-
Baserunner here would be big, Jake.
-
Thanks, Jake!
-
Single and a stolen base from Jake.
-
Wild pitch puts Jake on 3rd, 1 out.
-
Reddick with the sac fly to left.
Better throw might have gotten him. But it wasn't and it didn't.
3-1 Astros.
-
Reddick with a sac fly. 3-1
-
Springer reaches E6 vs infield single, didn't see the ruling.
Altuve dusts off the old bunt for a hit attempt and pops out to Seager in foul territory.
End 7
3-1

Harris goes 1-2-3 in the 8th.
Astros lead 3-1.
-
*There's* the requisite Bregman popup.
I still am encouraged by his contact of late.
-
Alvarez runs w/o limp on GO to LF....
-
Alvarez out hitting hard into the shift.
Correa can't check his swing.
To the 9th.
3-1 Astros

His other left
Figured.
He should limp. That was a shot. Off day tomorrow.
-
Osuna in.
The Human Fire Hydrant flies out to center
Seager Ks swinging on a sweet changeup
Beckham fails to bend it, grounds out 5-3
Astros win 3-1
-
LF?
Shift wt 2B playing short LF RF....
I don’t multitask very well.
Just cking to see if you’re paying attention.
-
Clutch sac flies from Alvarez (same PA as his injury) and Josh.
Nice to see some situational hitting in a close game.
Also, this Verlander character is pretty good at pitching.

How is it that the trainer does not speak Spanish? If you work with major league baseball players on a daily basis especially where their health is involved you must speak Spanish. It is amazing that he hasn't been ordered to learn Spanish much less learned on his own initiative.
-
Seattle is one really bad baseball team.

I was shocked he doesn't speak Spanish.
-
To be fair, the trainer could very well speak some Spanish. Correa was on deck and ran over there. His services as translator were likely impromptu.
-
Well, there's Spanish and then there's Cu'ano.

Exactly. These guys speak English, but some are not comfortable speaking to the media without an interpreter. That gives the impression they do not speak or understand English, which is wrong.

Jim, you know people these days want impressions and sound bites, not facts.
